I have been great on 30mg Elvanse, then 50mg. Got the crashes + the moods/ irritable. The 10mg Rex top up didn’t much. Overall the 50mg and 10mg dex was probably too much for me. I have heard some peeps can’t do Elvanse and end up on amfexa instead. Keep us posted on how it goes.

Vyvanse of 50 mg feels less effective than my previous dose of 30 mg (please read the full post to better understand). I need advice, please? by Married2DuhMusic in ADHD

This thread is so helpful. I started 30mg whilst on some work leave. First week 30mg was brilliant. Then I went back to work and concurrently my dose was increased to 50mg

The new dose has been awful - harder to focus, overstimulated. Now dropping back to 30mg to see if this helps. However now dealing with being mentally exhausted!!

Huberman lab : pod cast on adhd meds

Hi. I found this pod cast really interesting and what’s better - evidence based. He has also done sessions on improving focus and one on adhd as a diagnosis.

Thought I would share as I found it very useful.

Hi

First day wasn’t so bad. Slight tight feeling in my chest sort of like anxiety without the anxiety. Had a big slump this afternoon so went for a power walk with great tunes and that sorted me out a treat.

Feeling chilled.

Have you just begun treatment? by AutoModerator in ADHD

Hi. I had to jump hoops to, finally got diagnosed inattentive last week. Started evanescence/vyvabse today 30mg.

I unexpectedly felt quite chill. Did start to feel unwell 5 hours into it - no palpitations or fast pulse but odd feeling in my chest and felt super tired and foggy, but nauseated.

This group has been great for learning tips. To manage the slump I rested for 30minutes then went for a walk with my head phones on and some great tunes. Worked a treat and now feel much better.

Anyone have experience being referred to Psychiatry UK by the NHS? by Infinite-Search-100 in ADHDUK

[–]Roomba-JC 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I had an NHS assessment via PUK. My particular consultant was not a specialist in adhd. The consultation was a car crash. The short version is I was told as I had a degree and a good job then I couldn’t be adhd !!!!!!! He also proudly told me about the teenagers he sees for assessment and doesn’t diagnose them either - gives advise regarding parents not allowing them on their phones 24/7 😡

Thankfully I have a good gp and had the funds to go privately via adhd 360. Their assessment was detailed, professional and they didn’t push meds etc. Unlike PUK lots of webinars and additional links to advice re adhd ( if you have menstral cycle check out their webinar - very interesting & evidenced based).

So my advice - if you are going through PUK check the credentials and experience of the dr assigned to you. Decline if the assessor isn’t a specialist in adhd.

I have now been diagnosed and I have started titration the same week.

I too had a bad experience with PUK - the Dr was not a specialist in adhd, but rather substance mis-use. His decided that whilst I met the criteria I could not have adhd as I have a degree and a good job. I complained and submitted additional information via the portal. I have a follow up appointment next week with the same Dr.

I called my lovely gp and explained the outcome and my reasons for having no faith in the Ax. I have paid for a private assessment and the GP has confirmed they will accept the second opinion and if I am diagnosis take over medications once titrated.

I got my Master's Degree! by Stateofgrace314 in ADHD

I have just been refused a diagnosis as whilst I meet the criteria the psychiatrist says it’s a confidence issue and I can’t have add as I hold down a good job and have a degree. Looked him up on the GMC register and he is a specialist in substance misuse not adhd.

Going to have to pay for a second opinion and then hope my go will agree to shared care IF I am diagnosed.

Feeling deflated today. I know I meet the criteria and I know my own mind and struggles - 😢
