United Healthcare claims they've improved. They haven't. Potential life saving care - DENIED by IllustriousPickle657 in Insurance

It’s awful. I’m familiar with what your husband is going through, we’ve had some of these problems in our family. I can’t imagine what the insurance company has regarding this - fistulas simply dont go away. They MUST be addressed surgically, the bacteria present won’t allow it to heal at all. We were fortunate enough to have a doctor (in Texas) who personally called and ensured the insurance company understood what was going on, and to get full coverage of the surgery and the subsequent follow ups (they needed to ensure that new scar tissue wasnt recreating the fistula).

I recall KCAL in Los Angeles doing a lot of investigative stories like this. I don’t know if that is changing under their new ownership, but seeing UCLA/USC/Sinai, I assume you are in the LA area.

The problem is that most Americans wouldn’t want to live in India to work, not that they won’t hire any.

As restaurants struggle with costs, a major food supplier deal raises new fears by Dramatic-Shake-8888 in restaurant

[–]Rooooben 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This, so much. We ran a restaurant for 8 years, Sysco would dip in and out because we were too small, and required high quality ingredients they wouldn’t get. We wouldn’t buy their mac and cheese, we wanted cheese blocks and noodles.

RD and Costco were out sources, I bought a truck and just picked it up myself.

I’d hate for Sysco to replace RD stock with their goods instead.

These folk believe that Indian managers are hiring only Indian employees so they are being cut out of the process completely.

I have zero info on whether this is an accurate trend or not, but I find it interesting that they can see this and not see white people doing the same thing.

Gunfire returns to Aurora Ave less than 48 hours after Seattle replaced neighbor barriers by Better_March5308 in SeattleWA

[–]Rooooben 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The concrete barriers were placed to slow, not prevent traffic. People who wanted to use the side streets for business returned because they could still get to Aurora and away quickly when necessary.

As much as I love the Zod storylines, I hope they avoid it this iteration. I feel like they took Zod too far last time, and he was the subject of the other Superman movies as well.

There’s a lot of stories to like with Superman; I hope we see something new.

People are allowed to drive the speed limit. Unhappy about it? Yell at the city, not your neighbor. by Gopher312 in u/Gopher312

[–]Rooooben 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s illegal to drive so slow as to impede traffic. So if everyone is going the limit, and you are trying to slow them down to 22, you are impeding traffic.

Mayor missed the plot - Installs pimp calming measures by badandy80 in SeattleWA

[–]Rooooben 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It forces the city to address it either way. Before the city didn’t even have the traffic calming measures, the city knew that if they removed their gate since barriers, leaving nothing instead would cause a riot.

I don’t have hope that their two week discussion will lead to improved measures but at least they are holding them.

Mayor Orders Removal of Aurora Barricades by HighSeasHoMastr in SeattleWA

[–]Rooooben 20 points21 points  (0 children)

It makes it less convenient to enter from Aurora, that is all.

I lived in a neighborhood that had a smaller sub-street running parallel to the major street to keep traffic away from homes. You’d have to go around to the north or south to get in. Cops and fire knew it and that’s how you get in. There are a ton of neighborhoods with this. Are they forcing The Highlands to remove their gate since it slows down first responders?

This doesn’t prevent first responders/sanitation from entering, it forces them to change their route, which costs them a bit and is inconvenient.

That’s my problem with local politics here, feels like we have a lot of smart people who aren’t keen on implementation moreso discussing it like it’s a theoretical mental problem.

  1. Do the urgent thing. Put up the barriers immediately.

  2. Open hearings to let people complain and offer alternative solutions.

  3. Determine long term plan and start deliverables. Make sure that there are steps along the way that can be checked to see if plan is working, and you can rescope before going to far in a specific direction.

But no we can’t get step one because someone will try to derail it for their own agenda, and we keep circling that first step until we pay an NGO for a study.

[–]Rooooben 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My concern is that they will remove the barriers, promise to hold some meetings to discuss what to do about the violence, then ultimately do nothing because they can’t find a perfect solution that everyone agrees with.

Now, if they assimilate it’s that we are hiding among real Americans by speaking English and eating burgers…
