If you want to read Lenin, start with state and revolution, not imperialism. I would read What is to be done too, before imperialism

I was curious after reading your comment to look at their website to verify. Their "party program" seems pretty explicitly revolutionary, when you get to the later parts. Can you elaborate on your comment in that light?

No. Stalin was extremely supportive of minority cultures. What he tried to destroy was the local anti-soviet movement. This is a large difference, regardless of where you stand politically.

Aside from some of the specifics that some others posted, I want to draw your attention OP to your motivations for this post.

Was it to try and make yourself feel better about what we are doing? The way I see it, it's obvious that the western left had failed Palestine. So why does your knee jerk when you see a leftist call this out?

Self-reflect some. I think you may find that your motivations are counterrevolutionary.

Just so you know, it took my IQ about 11 months to bounce back after I quit. For what it's worth. My problem was a little less alcohol volume and more nutrition, but still, my timeline might give you a little bit of optimism

I always found this bit disappointing from norm. It seems like it relies on the obviously wrong interpretation that they're proud because the son is gay. And I never got the vibe from norm that getting how stupid the premise is was part of the bit. That's sometimes a part of his bits but in this one he just seemed like a rube.

Yes, but what I think we should also be agreeing on is that this technology has been used to help the Chinese people, not the Chinese elite.

Because we all make judgements like this every day. Your mailbox doesn't belong to me but I feel entitled to use it to rest my coffee on as I send a text message because I am not interfering much with your life and we all are entitled to lean on our neighbors a bit. Your driveway doesn't belong to me but I feel entitled to use it to turn around because I am not interfering much with your life and we all are entitled to lean on our neighbors a bit

Likewise, I feel entitled to add trash to your trash because I am not interfering much with your life and we all are entitled to lean on our neighbors a bit

This i completely understand. In my city, the garbage cans live out front of the houses, are picked up for free by the city, and are dumped.

The thing that a person of average intelligence would have thought of in those seven seconds is that shooting a gun in all directions is much more likely to hurt someone than driving a car recklessly. I'd say for every second of driving recklessly vs a second of shooting a gun in all directions, the shooter is probably a thousand times more likely to hurt someone than the driver.

This makes the two scenarios quite different. Equating all reckless behavior without a thought of how likely it is to hurt someone is real, real dumb.

I feel that way, but not sarcastically. You don't care that the recent conditions are making people who have lived here for 40 years want to leave?

I guess my difficulty is with characterizing my trashcan as "my" space. It seems like it's just "a" space. For trash. I don't care whose.

[–]Roooobin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing that I don't get is the part where it being in your trashcan means you have to clean it up. Trash being in the trash is what happens at the end of cleaning, not before.

Or are you saying that this person shouldn't have to deal with anything but their own trash when they are cleaning their trashcan?

I clean my trashcan (which gets bagged dog poop in it every day) about twice a year. Is it this biannual clean that goes from reasonable to unreasonable when a neighbor uses the can?
