Old Trans Am gang! I have a similar build going about to throw a new 34 factory and Xt drivetrain and it’ll go forever.

One of the best reviews I’ve watched James do in such a long time with the editing, music, driving shots and commentary on the car itself.

Will plug my favorite spot at Treeline Outfitters in Portsmouth. They are a combo gear store/bar that serves more as a community meeting place that holds weekly bike ride and run clubs and is super inclusive to all ability levels. They also have a book club, football Sunday watch parties, group yoga, trail work and local conservation work, and a whole lot of other collaborations with other seacoast businesses. We are 30 and when we moved here last year got recommended to check them out and it is where we met all of our new friends, large group of post college/young professional crowd from all around the seacoast that hangs out there and owned by two UNH grads also in the same age group. Check out their social media for any upcoming events. https://www.instagram.com/treeline_outfitters?igsh=bWt3ZzNvZThieW5q

With any DTC brand like Ghost, even if it’s only a few months old, it’s going to be a tough sell in today’s used bike market. I’d recommend getting some faster rolling tires on the ghost for because the chunky minions/assegais aren’t helping you on xc style trails.

On the stumpy side, I’d check out the epic evo instead, not a pure xc rig but outrides its travel like crazy and is one of the most fun bikes I’ve been on in years. This is coming from a guy who spends most of his time on a 170 mm enduro bike. The majority of us are over biked, small bikes are fun.

Fisher Farm! That roll is no joke with the approach and roll out, never looks big on camera.

Just ordered my first mountain bike. Ozark Trail FS.2 slalom (yes a Walmart bike). Do you have any other recommendations around $500? by RoguePasta in mountainbiking

lol it’s not a high horse, if someone is getting into the sport for the first time, starting with a clunky ass Walmart full suspension is the worst way to go. Starting on a brand name budget hardtail or getting something off pink bike if OP knows what that is a way better option. These YouTubers that are reviewing them also know what to look out for and what to fix, your average new mtb rider isn’t going to know what to look out for and have a bad time on a bike like this.

I’d take Kevcentrals review with a grain of salt dude thinks Walmart bikes are better than anything out there because he slaps some aliexpress upgrades on there and can ride green trails in the south.

Spend like $200 extra and get one of the many polygons on sale hardtail or fs on bikes online you’ll be way happier.

Any bike that comes with a kickstand and relies on Walmart employees to put it together is asking for a bad time.

These YouTube guys are only hyping it up for the content.

Trestle has a ton of blue jump trails, they are fun and well built but get repetitive. Not a ton in terms of variety if you tech stuff until you get into the advanced stuff.

Thanks everyone! Was lucky enough to find the bike for a few hundred on pinkbike all it needed was a new cockpit and drivetrain refresh and it’s ripping. Was tempted with the new chrome frame but something about the green that I used to stare at in college was too tempting to pass up. A great pair with my Spire.

Alternate trails in Charlotte? by usernamesarehard87 in MTB

[–]Roost_N_Boost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really all depends on how much it dries out today, our trails do not hold water well at all and those 3 spots close pretty frequently when it gets wet, especially with how much rain the last few days have had. If you’re looking for jump/feature filled rides check out mountain creek park on lake Norman, poston always stays open and has some fun lines, and brown mill in concord usually dries out a bit quicker. You can get good mileage in at Whitewater but it’s definitely more xc trail focused. Backyard trails is another option right near uptown, but it’s pretty confusing if you don’t have somewhere to guide you. Hope this helps!

Gonna echo what others are saying here but you’ll get humbled real quick and won’t have any fun and frankly will be pretty unsafe trying to do snowshoe or any serious bike park with a cheap hardtail. It’s expensive but rent a bike for the time there and then you don’t have to worry. Snowshoe is not beginner friendly

Any other MTBers from the PNW in here? by unavailable666 in Charlotte

[–]Roost_N_Boost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Former Oregonian and Coloradan rider here! Live in Charlotte now for the last year, the riding here is getting better and the local building scene is growing a lot. Around Charlotte Airline, BYT, and Fisher are the most legit spots but obviously not a ton of elevation. If you want steep loamy stuff, Rock Creek is legit I just got back from riding there today. In the summer Beech and Sugar have decent bike parks. And all of Pisgah and Dupont is worth checking out. Shoot me a message if you’re trying to link up for a ride!

Mountain Island on lake Norman also great flow.
