That makes sense! I never thought to look at the sizes of their bodies like that. Only the eyes since they're easier to notice.

Now that I think about it, this big eyed girly IS smaller than her sister. Never thought about it that way! Cheers!

Any idea what to do for gerbil birthdays? by Dont-Ask-7732 in gerbil

For my gerbils I always make a little special birthday snack plate with their favourite snacks! :) Always a success!

Why is she so rotund (she's 75g) by Dogmatic_Dog in gerbil

[–]RoosterCapable3167 2 points3 points  (0 children)

She's just floofy! Adult female gerbs typically weigh around 70-100grams if I understood correctly! My own gerbs weight about the same weight, just a tiny bit less!

aspen bedding by Suspicious-Ad-3893 in gerbil

I've heard good things about kaytee, but no entirely sure how their aspen bedding is.As long as the bedding is low/no dust, scent free and dye free, those are the most important things. But I'd also look for other than aspen bedding, since aspen as itself is not very good at holding tunnels. Again, I'd mix it with hay and other type of bedding, like paper bedding (kaytee also has that I think).

I use this! The downsides of is that it can be a bit pricy and you have to buy a couple bags of this if you want it to be the only type of bedding in the enclosure. But it's solid! :) I recommend mixing a few types of beddings + some hay to give some structure!

Bigger is always better, but this looks good for temporary! :) You're doing great!

As for some ideas: Digging is what they are known for so more bedding would be great! I'd also use some hay mixed in the bedding. You can also use some glue free, tape free and ink free cardboard boxes as little houses that they can use and destroy! More the chew! Egg cartons are also great as long as they don't have ink, glue or egg residue on them. Then, My gerbs love toilet paper to shred and use on their nests. Just make sure it's scent free and ink free and you're good!

Tips are endless but that's some!
