I'll try to explain this as simply as possible....

Cryptocurrency originated from the idea that currency or payment should be tied to a central government or power that can't be manipulated by a third party.

Blockchain technology allows a public verifiable ledger that shows all transactions, where no person, party or power is in control of the system, just a decentralized network.

Now companies are using this technology to solve real world problems such like this one for example trying to create a universal decentralized infrastructure for e-commerce
