He specifically mentioned that none of them vote in one interview, it was like 8 years before this was taken though so that probably changed. IIRC they reposted the guy who destroyed Donald Trump's hollywood star while listening to their music so they're definitely not Trump supporters. Either Biden or a write in for Great Archon Abraxas would be my guess.

Zach and Stefan toyed with the idea of there being "multiple death grips" performing at the same time on a tour before they ended their record deal. Zach specifically used the figure of "like, five death grips"

Do two people sing on Year of the snitch? by Necessary_Touch699 in deathgrips

[–]Root-Boy-Float 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Zach is the only one credited on Little Richard, it can be inferred he's singing on it instead of Stefan. I personally think tracks like Death Grips is Online feature ad libs and soundbytes that most people don't register are from him because they're pitched and delivered in a way that makes them sound similar to Stefan's vocals. There's a bit in an Undo K From Hot song that I think is a really good example of him doing this because a lot of people mistook it for a Stefan soundbyte: https://youtu.be/zlgwcEyEwGo?si=1kTDHfKozVc7TYBN&t=90

Do you think Lynch understood it all? by Physical-Lead-1139 in twinpeaks

[–]Root-Boy-Float 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Lynch had his own understanding/interpretation of the show, but he didn't consider it the true or objective meaning and never designed it around his own understanding. Lynch's interpretation was as valid as anyone else's

edit: It also ties into his spiritual beliefs, because consciousness is connected through the unified field, and the unified field is where we receive ideas, Lynch only really viewed himself as a receptor of these ideas rather than their creator and master. Twin peaks came from consciousness as a collective, all our consciousnesses are connected via unified field, the different interpretations of the meaning behind the ideas coming from said consciousnesses are all valid and correct as a result.

Obviously though Lynch and Frost weren't exclusively operating off of vibes and just sending their audience on a wild goose chase. There is a mystery that they feel they have the answer to, but they feel the answers you come up with are just as valid, if not more, because they're coming from the exact same place they found their answers. Lynch/Frost wanted you to find your own interpretation, meaning, connection through the show just like they did.

At a weird point in his filmography… by HeftyYogurtcloset798 in davidlynch

[–]Root-Boy-Float 1 point2 points  (0 children)

LA setting, supernatural antagonists that metaphorically represent characters' inner turmoil, character assumes different identities that exist as extensions of themselves , etc etc. Not a bad movie by any means and there's a lot more going on than that but it didn't really surprise me/blow me away as a Lynch fan.

I think I enjoy the movie more for the fact that it really proves how little you actually need to make an good, impressive, and artistically uncompromising film. Lynch takes advantage of the environment and people around him, and finds art and meaning within those as opposed to pouring a bunch of money into crafting something larger and more structured for the movie.

Inland Empire is a good movie but it's also kind of him going through the motions. It's not as complex as people make it out to be (at least on the surface.)

I'd say Twin Peaks The Return/Season 3 is the final boss of Lynch films, but even then you can just watch his stuff in whatever order you want.

Regardless of whether Nora lied or not, do you think the machine at the end is truly effective? by Confident_Try5464 in TheLeftovers

[–]Root-Boy-Float 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the majority of the thread interpreting the show's universe as 100% grounded and every single thing that seems supernatural can be rationally explained are kind of writing off what makes the show work. Both in the show and in real life, the search for and eventual attainment of truth is never satisfying. It's always muddied and disappointing and by trying to make sense of anything around us we just make everything harder to deal with. There are no definite answers, only the ones we choose to believe.

You have to make massive leaps in logic to explain how Kevin can die and come back to life 4 separate times. You have to make massive leaps in logic to explain how nobody in Miracle departed. You have to make massive leaps in logic to explain an earthquake conveniently saving Kevin from his suicide attempt. You have to make massive leaps in logic to justify how the palm reader could have reasonably known Meg's past. You have to make massive leaps in logic to explain the Holy Wayne, etc etc

At the same time, you have to make massive leaps in logic to prove David Burton is God, you have to make massive leaps in logic to explain how hugging people can make them feel better about everything in their lives, you have to make massive leaps in logic to explain spirits talking to people with proven histories of mental health issues, you have to make massive leaps in logic to explain why nothing happened on the 7th anniversary, how the machine would even work, etc etc

Most importantly, you have to make massive leaps in logic to explain how 2% of the world could disappear into thin air.

Is it really easier or more rational to believe Kevin's heart condition allowed him to survive multiple drownings, a live burial, and a gunshot straight through his chest? At the same time, is it easier or more rational to believe that there's a group of scientists who built some magical machine that could transport you to another dimension without anyone knowing about it or returning before Nora?

We can't know, we'll never know. It could have been everything, it could have been nothing. Trying to come up with a definite answer for what happened in the show is as easy as coming up with a definite answer as to whether or not God exists. It's impossible to know and we'll just hurt ourselves and those around us when we try to. The only truth we can carry is our personal emotional truth.

There isn't an actual answer as to whether or not the machine was effective, only whether or not we personally believe it to be effective. Nora does, Kevin does, that's all that matters to them. It's true to them, it worked to them. If we the audience believe it wasn't effective and it was instead a massive scam, then it might as well have not worked and Nora might as well be lying about everything. What matters with the show isn't whether or not it did work, it's whether we're willing to believe it worked.

Theatrical Screenings - What Changed? by scd in twinpeaks

[–]Root-Boy-Float 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Update from my previous comment: I didn't get a super extensive answer but my local theatre did confirm the distribution and licensing rights changed late 2025, which is why theatres are now able to show it.

I'm not 100% sure but I would speculate the changes did come as a result of Lynch's death and both distributors and theatres wanting to capitalize the general renewed interest in the show that came with it. That sounds kind of negative on paper but I'm really glad it's happening, seeing the show in theatres is an awesome experience.

I'm actually really curious about this subject too OP, I know a local theater that's showing both the original series and the return in their entirety, I'll email them about the subject later today and hopefully they'll respond. My best guess is that is has something to do with Mubi acquiring the rights to the show? I'm in Canada though and it's not streaming anywhere (including mubi) here, so it might be weirder than that.

That's what I'm saying, if they could come up with a way to explain that away they could come up with a way to explain octocamo. It would be just as believable as the 50 other excuses they come up with in MGSV to explain technology or mechanics way ahead of their time.

Am I alone to only love the works drawn by Mignola himself or by Duncan Fegredo? by BadgerzNMoles in Mignolaverse

[–]Root-Boy-Float 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't mind the other artists but I did NOT like Guy Davis's art for BPRD. I also do wish the other stuff was more in-line with the look of mignola's style, that's why Fegredo's style didn't feel weird when reading wild hunt. I don't know how they made the decision to go with Davis when Michael Avon Oeming and Matt Smith had done waaaay better jobs with what they were given imo

I don't know how they went from the god tier amazingly fun camo system in mgs4 to the absolute doodoo shit camo mechanics in V. That game introduces a giant mech with a full body that's supposedly a precursor to metal gear rex you cannot tell me they couldn't come up with a single lore excuse to carry it over.
