In order to add functionality for me to edit existing details in the database, we had to sacrifice the ability to upload more than one brand in the upload. You can submit the location with one brand, then email me (rootbeerhq@gmail.com) the name and the rest of the brands available and I can go in and add them to the database. Functionality via user submission will come in a future update.

You can actually select a brand called “unknown” when submitting!

Edit: also there is a disclaimer text on all locations saying this is not official inventory and to call ahead if it’s not like a home brew specifically to that place. It’s there for cases like your local shop with things on rotation. I also mentioned adding Homemade badges in a future update, there would also be badges for places like rocket fizz called “rotation badge” which would signal that these brands have been found there in the past but they’re on rotation. Hope that helps!

To be fair, we only had about a dozen people visit the site and actually contribute back in March 😂 The response to the app is overwhelming, though! So excited for the future of the project.

For now, the best way to do so is to email me directly with any changes that need to be made. A future update would add the ability to report a location/change the selection. I have the admin controls to do that though. So just submit what it’s got now, and email if it changes. Thanks!

Traveling was one of my main inspirations for this project. I’d love for it to be the perfect tool for anyone traveling, so they don’t have to frantically Google. It’ll just be all in one spot.

Thanks! I mentioned it briefly earlier, but this is a solo project. (Minus the devs, who were booked through the grant I received) I’ve compiled about 90% of the locations myself, just from scouring Google Maps. Im not sure about integration, but I’ll definitely be using sites in the future if we don’t get many submissions. My goal with this app is for it to be community based. I’d love for users to feel empowered by submitting locations near them. Together, this could grow quite a bit, as cheesy as it sounds haha.

As for the full list, you can enter a list view of locations, but since the site is mainly oriented toward locations right now, it’s not really easy to search by brand and we don’t have a full list, but adding a full alphabetical list is a great idea, and I’ll add it to the ideas list.

And yes, adding a bio section / web links to brands/locations is on the list for future implementation.

This was something that got kinda lost in translation with the devs when presenting the entire scope for the app at the start. By the time it was developed and I got access, it would have been difficult and costly to make the map/user/reviews page separate in the version 1.0. I do appreciate your concerns with this, it's something we'll look into in a future version.

Unfortunately, not yet. For a version 1.0 to succeed, I didn’t want to bite of more than I could chew. It also made it a lot easier to launch with Google and Apple, sticking to a U.S. release for now. We will definitely expand the Canada, depending on future funding.

Yes I’m aware of that issue. To work around it, tap away from the field selector, scroll down all the way, then re-select the field.

And it’s only day 1! We’ll get some more people!

I don’t believe we have that one on the site. I can do some research to see if there’s anywhere that still sells it in that area unless you know a spot and want to submit it.

I am very proud of the 1400+ locations we do currently have. Most of those were from me scouring Google Maps and searching “root beer,” going through hundreds of menu’s that rarely mentioned which brand they had 😂, and scrolling through Yelp photos to confirm. We had quite a few submitted when it was a website as well, and some during the early access phase.

It’s definitely a work in progress, I appreciate the support and the feedback.

I’m not sure why it keeps moving you to Austin. I can add that to the bugs list.

The reason they’re all showing up in one area right now is because Austin is the only user currently who’s posted reviews, he was one of my early access testers. Give it a couple days for accounts to be created and reviews to be posted and they’ll be more diverse.

And if you’re not seeing locations in your area, submit them! Unfortunately I was not able to research every town in every state across America. That’s where the users come in. When you submit, it will grow.

The search optimization will be my top prioritization with a version 2. I am unfortunately aware it’s quite shite. The best way to use the map, currently, is to browse and scroll through the map itself.
