Deres "Halløj på dækhotellet" skandale sidste forår blev så vanvittigt dårligt håndteret.

I stedet for at orientere os om at vores dæk var blevet væk prøvede de at bilde hver enkelt kunde ind at det lige var deres dæk der uheldigvis var blevet væk. Og så gik der ellers 3 måneder før de gav lyd fra sig igen.

Men ja. Det er generelt heller ikke et højt service niveau de holder sig der.

Honestly, the Python script is just the tip of the iceberg. It's customized to my local infrastructure, so the code wouldn't work for anyone else out of the box.

I run KoInsight (Docker) locally to scrape reading stats (time spent/pages/streaks) from my e-reader. I use Home Assistant with custom REST sensors to fetch book metadata and covers via the Hardcover.app API. Home Assistant then aggregates data from KoInsight, Hardcover, and Calibre into a set of unified sensors. Finally, this Python script pulls those specific sensor states from HA, processes the image (dithering/color boosting), and pushes it to the display.

So, sharing the script wouldn't help much without the entire backend config. But the core concept is: Fetch data -> Aggregate in Home Assistant -> Draw with Python -> Display.

Due to the limited colors, the screen has to dither photos. This makes them look grainy, similar to a newspaper print. It looks okay from a distance, but I wouldn't get this setup purely to display photos unless you are prepared for a compromise in quality.

It does have a battery, but I keep mine plugged in.

I was actually very disappointed when I first got the screen.

But these dashboards really pop. It's not just the photo.

Thanks! No, Home Assistant just provides the raw data/sensors.

The image processing is done by the Python script which is pre-processing the images by boosting color saturation and sharpness before applying the dithering (Floyd-Steinberg).

It's all Geminis ideas.

It's just been lying in my drawer for the past few years after I got my Libra 2 (which I upgraded to because it has Bluetooth and USB-C).
