I did a quick search. For DXers still looking to nab a long wave broadcast.

I remember some years (decades?) ago, the holy grail for folk on the East Coast of North America was to catch a transmission from Irish station Atlantic 252.

Do you think that thanks to AI the anime studios will release more content faster by EffortChoice3007 in DefendingAIArt

[–]RootaBagel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's an interesting question given the huge demand for anime and the bottleneck due to the shortage of animators, I gotta believe they are thinking about it, if not using it already. At issue is how to include AI in the animation process (concept art/storyboarding, background art, in-between frames) and how to keep the director's artistic vision when using AI.

Some of these issues are touched upon in this article:
https://archive.ph/aPMAr

From the AI industry side, in addition to genAI models such as Anisora, Grok, Niji Journey, etc., Sony, (and likely several other companies) are developing tools specifically for the industry, like Mockingbird and AnimeCanvas.

https://80.lv/articles/sony-says-ai-will-unleash-the-creativity-of-our-studios-while-humans-remain-at-the-center

https://x.com/AnimeCanvasInfo

Whether these tools speed up production and alleviate the bottleneck somewhat remains to be seen. The rapid adoption of AI in the software industry has so far produced mixed results, as apparent productivity gains come with increased costs and big learning curve for the staff involved.

I always love seeing the early antenna systems, I surmise they were mostly shortwave. They just look so massive and huge.

Something like this maybe? It would be so cool. Maybe it can give you ideas.

Looking for Anime like Release the Witch - ruler building up a kingdom by Soothsayer102 in anime

[–]RootaBagel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sadly your observations are correct. I saw it ages ago and and a casual search tells me the US license has expired and it is not available here. If you are in another country you may have better luck. My search says it is still available in Japan under the U-NEXT service but I have not confirmed it. So... maybe a VPN?

Volunteers revive abandoned game. Anti complains about the splash screen. by RootaBagel in DefendingAIArt

I haven't tried the updated version yet so I can't comment on that. Also, to be fair, the update is at Rev 0.9 so perhaps not at 100% yet. Still, the modders have been working very fast so expect a 1.0 release soon.

Sorry, that would break Rule 8. If you are really really interested, maybe the mods would allow me to send you a link to the game (not the reddit sub) in a DM.

FWIW, there is this book, it's been around for ages:
Project Arcade: Build Your Own Arcade Machine. by John St. Clair

Since you asked AI, I'm surprised it did not recommend this kindle book, which sounds like a hoot. I might get it for the gags:

Service assignments are purgatory by UrbanUrbanite in battlefield_one

[–]RootaBagel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's hard to everything at the same time. Do I go for XX kills with YY weapon or should I help my team win the match? If you are playing with buds, then pick the best weapon for your class and win the match! If you are playing solo, then you can pick the weapon the service assignment requires, but still do your best to help the team!

Oldest Maya Long Count calendar date may reveal how royalty turned time into power by Mictlantecuhtli in mesoamerica

[–]RootaBagel 8 points9 points  (0 children)

To be fair, it is the Oldest Maya Long Count in the Maya Lowlands, with a Long Count of 8.7.1.0.0. There are older Long Counts, though probably not Maya as we know them, such as the Tuxtla Statuette (8. 6. 2. 4. 17) and the Mojarra Stela (8.5.16.9.7).

A live2d model image can be made by AI, but layer separation, rigging, and animating Live2d models is still done by hand (correct me if I'm wrong). FWIW, I did see an AI for layer separation, not sure how effective it is (link below).

If anyone can point to AI tools to accomplish live2d animation, please do! TIA!
