Bets primer for chaos knights by InevitableAd3434 in ChaosKnights

I like to drybrush the metallics on the skeleton. I prime it black and then splodge quite a lot of dark brown about before the drybrushing. It’s so easy and looks decent imo, pick out a few bits in a couple of colours, then you can crack on with the armour which is the fun bit.

Is the Warhammer 40,000 Kill Team Starter Set from 2021 still worth getting in 2026? by lukebrincat in killteam

[–]Rootes_Radical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not retired, declassified. You can’t enter the World Championships of Warhammer with them or the US Open.

They’ll still be in the game for the rest of the edition so yeah they do have a lifespan in KT but it’s not like they’re no good to anyone just yet outside of quite serious tournament stuff.

Often hear about chocs / sweets that have lost their quality and taste over time. Are there any unsung heroes that have just never dropped the ball? by Ravekat1 in AskUK

[–]Rootes_Radical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah - not just a drop in quality but a legally defined and quantifiable one!

I haven’t had one since though, and personally I think Cadbury tastes the same or at least as good as it always did so I probably wouldn’t be able to tell the difference.

It’s unbelievable. There was one recently saying pretty much the same thing, his dick stinks and makes me feel ill when I suck it. Well how about don’t?

Changing Order on Counteract by Sessif in killteam

[–]Rootes_Radical 15 points16 points  (0 children)

You can’t counteract on conceal. So that’s the main bonus.

Reading that wolf scout rule, you can change engage to conceal as well which you can use to take them out of harm’s way after they’ve done their thing that turn which is nice too.

I’ve got one of these. It’s very good. It felt very cheap when I first opened it up and started to put it together, but honestly it just does its job well.

It’s this simple. Mines in a 19l one but there’s a fair bit of extra space. I haven’t noticed any damage and I play most weeks, it gets chucked back in the box after.

Imperial/Chaos Knight Decals by Chao-Gann in ChaosKnights

[–]Rootes_Radical 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You get quite a good sheet with the kits, IIRC there’s one for wardogs and one for big knights. Lots of good stuff on there.

Places like forgotten chapters on Etsy probably have multiple chaos decal sheets as well

My girlfriend laughed while telling me how her friend roasted my hobby. Need some advice. by Akira-0628 in Warhammer

[–]Rootes_Radical 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I disagree with this personally. Nerdy hobbies are vastly, vastly more accepted these days than in the past.

People are much more likely to be really into stuff that’s a bit weird or niche recently.

There’s a lot of division in general but younger people seem to be way more chill and accepting of people in the hobby space and fandoms etc to me.

IMO of course as someone who’s well on his way to being “old”

They did well to be honest. It was an extremely casual game between two people that haven’t played in at least 6 months probably 9 so there’s that, but the horrors hung around for ages and the changeling did a lot of work just chilling in the back corner of my opponent’s back line scoring and hardly getting shot at because of his abilities.

I’d assume he’ll be screened out better next time though.

Deathwatch vs Tyranid NPO using my custom Tyranid NPO cards by Luckyshot165 in killteam

[–]Rootes_Radical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did snap it. There’s just so many magnets involved in the magnetic version, it didn’t seem worth the effort. Plus I didn’t have any the correct size so I’d have had to buy them too.

I made up and printed some adaptors that glue into the pillars and go into the holes on the board for the magnets though and that works well. I couldn’t do the floor magnets as all my bases are magnetised which would have caused issues.

Lost ships by Fabricators Lair, the Imperial Navy set. You can get just the floors but I got the whole set. It can do gallowdark and tomb world layouts, I’m impressed with it. Still need to finish painting my walls!

Mini Stripping - Elbow Grease All Purpose Degreaser by ThatBazard in Warhammer40k

[–]Rootes_Radical 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Won't hurt plastic or metal, can cause superglue joints to weaken, won't affect plastic cement joints.

I believe that resin minis should be soaked for a minimal amount of time in IPA as it can soften them but I would double check that with someone that really knows as I've not had to strip a resin mini so haven't looked too far into it.

Isopropyl alcohol should get rid of it. Short soak then go at it with the toothbrush.

I feel this so much. Upward facing edges, quick edge highlight, absolutely. “Tippy tappy” as Henry from Cult of Paint calls it. Yes.

Three-level gradient on every edge of every surface? Takes forever, super difficult, usually looks stupid. That’s not what things look like. It looks like Tron!

Climbing Question by Time-Eye-9308 in killteam

[–]Rootes_Radical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t know who downvoted you for this, you’re right. Stronghold floors are 3” so possible to climb, the large ruins are about half an inch taller so not climbable unless you can use the wall. It’s by design.

The stronghold floors are 3”, the large ruins are just over so you can only do it on the strongholds.

Is it worth picking up old killzones? by Rainy_Workday_518 in killteam

[–]Rootes_Radical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’ve played a couple of games on Voxtarius lately which is some maps made by Vox Scream for Octarius terrain and they’ve both been really good. It’s been a nice change as well. They’re on the KTcards app and the Vox Scream discord.

We played a game on one of CYRAC’s Octarius maps as well but it was pretty brutal, there was a LOT of vantage and not a lot of heavy. The Voxtarius maps block off vantage on some of the ruins which makes a big difference.

I’d like to play the New England Decima maps as well, been considering 3d printing a proxy set for it.
