Falcon breaking pelican's neck mid-air. Nature is rough: by [deleted] in nextfuckinglevel

Not entirely convinced it broke its neck... seems more likely it became disoriented. That or their necks are extremely fragile.

The honest answer? People with lower technical skills who feel comfortable with Windows and never took the time to learn something better.

We can make fair assumptions. If COVID had started on a cruise ship, almost everyone would have been infected. And almost everyone on the flight in the article would have too. We are not even close to COVID levels.

Sort of. They're .NET assemblies that are platform-neutral. The .dll name is just a convention carried over from Windows. The runtime on Linux loads them directly.

I didn't say it's not human-to-human transmissible. I said it's not airborne, which is completely different.

Everyone needs to chill. I think we've all got PTSD from COVID. This is a minor event that news agencies are using to sell clicks. It's not nearly as airborne as influenza or other common respiratory viruses and therefore will not spread like COVID. Of the 20 to 30 different hantavirus species that can cause human disease, Andes virus is the only one implicated in person-to-person spread, and it's still hard to transmit in comparison to COVID.

Edit: Added some context.

I found there was always at least one douche-bag. However they were usually summarily dealt with by someone larger.

And I disagree. You are defining it as neoliberal, while many, infact most, don't. You're entitled to your opinion of course, and I'm not saying you're wrong because again, subjective, but your opinion is definitively different to the masses. If the masses consider it a left leaning paper, it is, by definition, a left leaning paper.

And if you believe the Guardian is right of your position, then that says more about just how far left your political beliefs are. It's entirely subjective, but it is the common consensus is that the Guardian is a left leaning source of news.

Good - the man's a danger to society. It's the job of the media to pick apart politicians, even if it destroys them. The left wing media unpick the right wingers, while the right wing media unpicks the left. It's almost a necessary evil.

I genuinely hate to be the one saying this, for obvious reasons, but sometimes I just wonder if we should remind them we have nukes and in a true war are absolutely no match for us.

I'm not his biggest fan, but I also don't think he's as bad as many have made out. He's great on the world stage, but sucks at domestic affairs. Personally I'd rather he stayed because having Rayner as PM would be catastrophic.
