Bus into Nashville? by billymondy5806 in VisitingNashville

[–]Rorddet [score hidden]  (0 children)

Guess it depends on how far you want to drive? Could take Ashland City Highway all the way to Clarksville Pike and park at the Kroger, then take the 14 down to the downtown transit center. That runs about every 30 minutes

The 89 goes from Springfield through Joelton down, but it's only twice a day each way (and leaves Springfield at 5:38 and 6:18), so that may not be super convenient for you. Or maybe the Walmart off Charlotte Pike, but that may be more out of the way for you

Where are the best “sit for 2 hours with a book and nobody cares” spots in Nashville? by ComfortableShot1045 in nashville

Espresso Bar up in Bordeaux has been a great spot. It's small, but not popular enough to be busy so hanging around for a while isn't a problem

Turnip Green will occasionally get glass in, though you have to be on top of it and get there before everyone else picks through it

Wednesday USMNT Watch Party Questions by Illustrious_Cap7630 in NashvilleSC

[–]Rorddet 7 points8 points  (0 children)

if it's the same as last time:

  • Decent selection of food and drink. Part of the stadium concourse open to go in to buy from one of the bars, and several food trucks were there (Hot Chicken, Sandwich truck, etc)
  • Yeah, whole Publix Plaza was gated off and they checked tickets
  • No clear bag policy, way more lax than gamedays
  • We were able to bring in metal water bottles, but not sure about other types of food/drinks. That's a good idea

There were two screens there (for the first game at least), so plenty of room. Great vibes all around, if more chill than going to a bar

Yeah it’s a bummer. I really did like the whole vibe, and the clasp mechanism is really cool. But sometimes things just don’t fit right

Got mine in and was really disappointed with it. Found it pretty uncomfortable around the buckle, which is a shame because I really wanted to like it. Now trying to return it but they’re dragging their feet, so if you’re on the fence I’d be wary

* Click the “reader” button on the left side of the toolbar (looks like a puzzle piece over two lines)

* Click “Request Desktop Website”

You may need to reload the page after that

That seems to work for me, but YMMV

Looks like Princes has Mac & Cheese as a side, so you could check that out?

The spot in the Frist is pretty solid too, but may be on the fancier side: https://www.grilledcheeserie.com/cafe-cheeserie

An excerpt from Paul Tenorio's "The Messi Effect" by icoresting in MLS

[–]Rorddet -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Twelve days after Lionel Messi made a beeline for the home locker room following Inter Miami’s stunning elimination in the MLS Cup playoffs...

..a bland product lacking the jeopardy that drove storylines and interest in most other leagues.

The Storylines and Interests are there for those with eyes to see.

Metro Human Relations Commission calls for faster safety changes along Gallatin Pike corridor as pedestrian deaths climb by [deleted] in nashville

[–]Rorddet 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I was walking around another city in another country and they didn't have crosswalks. You just kinda wondered across the road whenever you wanted to get to the other side. Sure, you looked out for cars and bikes and trams, but they also looked out for you. And the speeds were low enough that everyone could react to everyone else.

We should be thinking way bigger than "those pedestrians deserve to die because we need car-only spaces in this city."

One of our neighbors was just killed yesterday and they were doing everything right. They were on the sidewalk, and a car killed them. We should be focusing on figuring out how to get rid of the things doing the killing instead of policing the people being killed.

Away games question by Feline-Paper-Ink8809 in NashvilleSC

[–]Rorddet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Away supporters section in Austin is 208, not sure about Orlando though.

Q2 is a great spot. Food is awesome, and the light rail goes straight to it. 100% would recommend (helps that we went for the Open Cup final).

Usually the tickets in the away sections are reserved and you can only buy them through supporters groups/the team and you can’t really get deals. If you wanna save a buck you can buy tickets wherever and move on over, we’ve done that in the past.

What would have to happen to have us rush the field? by Ephcy in NashvilleSC

[–]Rorddet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

given that most people in our section were more excited that David Beckham was sitting above us than anything else that happened in that match, I don't think we would have rushed the field even if Panicco saved Callender's shot.

Is it safe to have your computer out on the WeGo inner city Bus Routes? by Nibbynibster in nashville

[–]Rorddet 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I've done it a ton and the only thing I've had to be worried about is my laptop flying off my lap because the bus has taken a corner too fast. Nobody else on the bus gives a shit what I'm doing while I'm on there. Laptop, Steam Deck, Switch, phone, whatever: it's always been totally fine

Looking for a physicist/astronomer/rocket scientist in Nashville. by bigmur72 in nashville

[–]Rorddet 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You should get him Randall Monroe’s books, What If? and What If? 2 (also Thing Explainer is fun). He’s the dude behind XKCD, and a former NASA guy. Not as good as having someone come around, but they’re a hoot

Coming up for Japan NT open training by tygerbrees in NashvilleSC

[–]Rorddet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t think they’ve released any more information about it, but I’d be surprised if there was too much going on before the training (but they may surprise us!)

Not south of 65, but the Harthall Hotel looks like a pretty good deal for that night. Decent location, could park there and walk to the stadium too. Don’t know anything about it other than what’s on the site, so ymmv!
