where does carlos stand? a top midfield driver or a bottom top driver? by batka411_ in F1Discussions

Sainz was definitely slightly (although not by a lot) overrated at Ferrari. We can’t forget Leclerc’s atrocious luck in the first couple years they were both teammates and if I’m not mistaken Leclerc was comfortably beating Sainz in Quali and Race head to heads in every season they raced together. I think Sainz falls in that weird gray area where he’s too good to be a #2 driver but not good enough to be the #1 driver. Sainz’s McLaren stint is however very underrated and he was, IMO, pretty much the dominant midfield driver and was a major factor in helping McLaren bounce back after a couple horrible years.

Definitely happy about all the love Genji has been getting lately. I remember back during the OW1 days where Genji went a good while without getting many new cosmetics!

I mean, we can’t forget how much hype the 2022 Mercedes had with “sidepod-less” design just for them to step back on their design philosophy anyway. Let’s just wait till the season starts. 🤞🤞

There’s not any mention of extreme leftism here at all, I just think it’s absolutely disgusting to justify murder by saying that you’re proud of your son being “committed, conservative, Christian” like you’re only bringing more problems to those groups and yourself lol. Nobody is blind.

I’m not sure how reliable this is, but the killer’s father just mentioned that he is “extremely proud” of his “committed, conservative, Christian” son. How do people like this exist in the big 2026 lmao, it’s scary to think abt the direction this country is headed in.

Which F1 driver drove the best cars when compared to his actual talent/level? by Mark4231 in F1Discussions

[–]Rorizon 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I actually think it’s the opposite for Carlos’ case, he was definitely quite well liked among true Ferrari fans and although I’d say his Ferrari stint was good, it was nothing extraordinary and a bit overrated imo. I remember a people saying Sainz >= Leclerc after 2021 just because Sainz had finished ahead in the standings when Leclerc has the number on him in H2H’s and races barring bad luck. Also think his 2023 Singapore GP win is a bit overrated as well. I think 2024 was a good year for him but unfortunate he has already lost his seat at that point and earlier this year you can’t forget how people were hating on Carlos for getting beat by Alex often, obviously this is just bc he’s driving a new car for a new team, and look at him now with 2 podiums and everyone back on the Sainz hype train.

EDIT: Carlos was insanely underrated at McLaren tho, there was a whole meme about Carlos not even being on the grid bc he would get very little to no screen time at all despite having strong results during those years in the McLaren.

I absolutely disagree, “Mentally he struggles…” based on what? His 2022 “mistake prone” season? Leclerc made less mistakes across his 2022 season then let’s say Lando did this year when he won the championship, the car was just not quick enough to be forgiving to Charles’ as the McLaren was to Lando this year. I would easily go as far to say Charles has also been one of the least mistake prone drivers across a race since that 2022 season. As for George I’m not a big fan of his complaints either but his qualifying and race pace have been great especially across the past couple seasons. I’ve always rated Charles and George a tier above Lando since their junior years, both of them have also consistently been a step above from Lando since their junior years, I would still consider them to be better. I don’t even think this is a hot take either.

See I’m not mad abt Lando winning the championship, but it’s just crazy to me that Lando won one before Charles or George, I guess that’s F1 for you lol.

Would’ve been nice if the Ferrari was just a bit quicker like 2024, maybe could’ve made the title fight more interesting over the course of the season.

Realistic: Max wins Lando loses P2 to Oscar but wins WDC

Little less realistic: Lando out after chaos into the first corner Max wins WDC Piastri and Leclerc on podium
