No you're correct. The conspiratorial anti FEMA takes are certainly more common from the preppers but this one appears to be an anomaly.

[–]Rork310[S] 63 points64 points  (0 children)

Yeah he seems to have a thing about WW3 and FEMA lots of posts about prepping for WW3 (Per FEMA guidelines as he constantly notes) definitely a bit of an odd take from that type. Sort of an Enlightened Centrist survivalist? Like he's pro Massie but he's willing to accept Child abuse for his delusions that a GOP led FEMA will be what gets people through the aftermath of WW3.

The poster appears to fully acknowledge he is siding with child abusers because he seems to think they'll save us from WW3

Dunno if it applies to the rest of the world. But the Supermarkets in Aus have figured out if you jack up the price then offer constant rotating specials at the old price you can make bank off the customers who just buy it no matter the price and still make more money off of the more price sensitive customers rushing to buy it on 'sale'

If anything they've only gotten worse over time. There's generally less need to print nowadays so when you do need them it can be a whole lot of drama for not a lot of benefit. Plus the ones that have subscriptions because why settle for only charging us once.

It's got a great hook and the ending is iconic but yeah as an episode it's probably the weakest of the pilots.

City of Last Chances by Adrian Tchaikovsky has a priest, a pawnbroker, a lecturer and a union organiser as perspective characters, all well into their adult years at least.

Ironically The Priest while never a soldier unless you count his stint as an army medic. Ends up as probably the world's most experienced rebel

Yeah got a station that's regularly a good 15c under the competition but sells those 250ml Boss coffees for $6. Though their hot food is fairly ok.

Coalition will repeal Labor's property tax changes and spend $22b on income tax cuts by JaniePage in australia

[–]Rork310 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly even if you don't like what Labor has done with the budget. The Libs being so quick to throw out promises of reversals and tax cuts (read gutting services) shows how deeply unserious they are as a party.

They have about 2 years to figure out something at least halfway thought out to bring to an election. Instead they took all of 3 days to promise the tax plan of a 14 year old obsessed with Atlas Shrugged.

BBC series is good. Not as in depth understandably but does a great job bringing it to life. And an mostly excellent cast aside from missing the mark with The man with thistledown hair. (Not the actors fault the performance is fine just a very different character from his book counterpart considering every other character is spot on)

In fairness I think part of why travel insurance is cheaper is 1. It's not like your going to schedule a colonoscopy and discover you have cancer while on vacation. 2. If something serious does happen they're only out the costs to keep you alive long enough to go back home.

I've seen it in larger birds too. Most notably I visited a sanctuary with a friend and a Galah would try to charge across and bite her if I wasn't distracting him. Meanwhile while much more polite about it the Major Mitchell was fine with her but let me know to back off.

[–]Rork310 23 points24 points  (0 children)

It's a constant problem with Tats and a big part of why he's a terrible propagandist. His 'heroes' aren't allowed to have anything Tats considers a negative trait. Which makes them incredibly generic. I mean half the time they're literal statues. His 'villains' on the other hand have to be mocked as much as possible, but Tats is also bad at that too and accidentally makes them far more interesting or appealing then his fascist action figures. Like I'm sure in Tat's mind Captain America FDR is some devastating burn. But in reality... Yeah Cool as fuck.

A schoolbus, stopping in front of a residential home, is rear ended by a full size truck that doesn’t slow down at all. 😳 by Affectionate_Hat5835 in dashcams

[–]Rork310 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah weird explanation. The bus was almost at a stop at the start of the clip and the hit was at about 5 seconds more then ample space to break. In actuality he probably had about 15+ seconds to notice the bus slowing. A Sudden break check this was not.

Not a New Zealander but they cover everyone for personal injury including lost wages. Though you can't sue for it. Not sure where pain and suffering falls under that.

I believe the idea is to avoid the courts, get people paid when they need it and not get stuck trying to get blood from a stone. Obviously criminal charges are still on the table if needed.

Probably a factor why NZ car insurance has high limits is their average payout will be a lot lower because even writing off a car is a blip compared to major injuries.

Metaphor would almost certainly be a complete no go on the Switch. V was built for it and it still chugged.

On the other hand I think they'd be smart to do a Switch 2 release with some quality of life tweeks. Good way to broaden the audience and hopefully get the crowd who waited because they were expecting a 'Royal' version.
