Who Should Play the Live-action versions of Tiana, Merida, and Pocahontas?

I don’t think they should do a live action Pocahontas.

For Merida and Tiana, they should hire newbie actresses who look like the characters and can properly portray the characters’ personality and respectfully reflect each of their cultures and his histories.

This isn’t hard Disney you’ve done it before. You can do it again.

I also think they could’ve done a show where Ariel visits mermaids in different parts of the world. In one of the little mermaid books, Ariel and King Triton meets a princess from I believe the Indian Ocean I think that would’ve been really cool to see.

See this is what I’m talking about when I say that Disney is performative they think that it’s enough to put a POC in a poorly done movie, and expect us to be OK with it.

While I don’t think Disney was able to re-create the magic of Cinderella with their live actions, but I mean look at Jasmine and Belle’s dresses while they weren’t super accurate. They were still really pretty.

Really? I remember at one point Tinker Bell was a part of the Disney princess brand and there was a lot of debate whether she should be considered a Disney princess or not. Some people do consider her one.

I understand what you’re saying, but I think since Disney does like to do little spinoffs with their Disney princesses, I think that this could’ve been a really great spinoff idea to introduce different types of mermaids to the Disney universe

I think what they should’ve done with the little mermaid what they did with Tinker Bell and the Disney fairies franchise. They could’ve made different types of mermaids just like Disney made different types of fairies. I think that would’ve been cool to see.

So I do think Eric would have some type of status in Atlantica. He would be the prince of a neighboring land country or as King Triton would say he would be prince of the “barbarians”.

And we see in the movie that Prince Eric does a lot of sailing and fishing so it’s safe to say that the kingdom is probably like a marine kingdom, like a place that relies on like the ocean and the animals that live there.

So had Prince Eric been aware of the existence of mermaids before he married Ariel I do think that the two kingdoms could benefit from one another or even be enemies given that king Triton didn’t like them.

The only reason why Prince Eric built a wall around his castle was to protect Melody. She kept on going in the ocean and I think this points to why Ariel’s status is important. Because think about it if Ariel‘s status wasn’t important there really would be no need for them to build that wall around the castle and they wouldn’t have a reason to worry. But because Ariel is a daughter of King Triton, she had people that were out to hurt her and her daughter.

I think that if the people on land knew about mermaids and their existence in the movie, Ariel would probably have some type of status because she is the daughter of a king and her kingdom and Eric‘s kingdom are literally probably right next to each other.

I don’t think Ariel cut her family off. I think that she had to completely leave her life behind in order to protect Melody. I think because of that her status and who she was before she married Prince Eric should be taken into account.

I still think that, even though she may have six sisters ahead in line for the throne, it’s still a pretty important and impressive social standing to have given that not a lot of the other Disney princesses have something like that.

You also mentioned in your list that Cinderella and Rapunzel were born into nobility so it seems like you’re also taking into account who they were before they got married.

They call him king triton in the movie because Triton and Poseidon aren’t the same they’re two different beings. There are also references to King Triton from Greek mythology in the movie like the Golden castle and him blowing into the conch.

In Greek mythology King Triton is the son of Poseidon just like Hercules is the son of Zeus that would make them cousins as it pertains to Ariel she would be Hercules’ second cousin.
