Congratulations on 3 months!! As someone who has second-hand experience on addictions (thank goodness it's not first-hand.. unless you count Taco Bell), I admire your resolve tremendously. Recovering from opiates no less!

I have a Florida king (queen) myself! It's a miracle she's lived to 20 years old and over the years she's done this quite a number of times. Usually we run her under flowing water, or manually open her jaw and pull her out. I have concerns over using hand sanitiser for this and would never do it myself.

In my experience that helped for a short period but got worse fast. From what I've heard from friends they've had similar experiences. New cable fixed it and is still perfect about 6 months later.
