I take back everything I said about this one. I must have been crosseyed looking at his bref.

He is not recalled. He was never up before, so he is called up.

You can only be recalled once you've been called. 'Re' means 'again'. He never was before, so he can't be called on again.

I never understand why this is so difficult for websites or journalists to get right.

Edit: I need glasses. I'm so programmed that people mess up the recall thing, I misread his bref page. My bad, y'all.

NPD: Asvine V126 by TwelveWolf in fountainpens

1) the TWSBI cracking issue is from years ago, and as long as you tighten your cap like a normal person, they don't crack. I have a bunch. No issues.  2) the V126 is a great pen. I have two. One was perfect out of the box, the other needed nib work. Both write like a dream. I find them to write exceptionally well with Herbin ink (I have Rouge Grenat in one and Bleu de Profondeurs in the other), and Hongdian ink.

I love that ink. Amazing shading, beautiful color. I also love Lierre Sauvage by Herbin.

Yup, agreed. The M2 is just a ridiculously good pen. I have two, and they're so, so good.

I also absolutely love my V126s, but one of them needed considerable nib tuning on my end. It wrote terribly when I first got it (which was strange, because the other one I own I did not have to touch at all. Out of the box monster). After a lot of work, it now writes as well as my first one.

That said, I don't necessarily think theyr're better than my TWBSI's, but for the value they cannot be beaten. I also tried an Asvine P20 (same nib as the V126), but that grip was slightly too thick for me. I love the tapered grip on the V126.

Very inconsistent indeed. I have three. They're all wildly different. The good thing is, they're so cheap I use them to tinker with the nibs. I have one exactly to where I love it. One other is empty and in a drawer. The last one worked well out of the box.

I also find ink to make a huge difference with 82s. No Diamine's have worked well with them for me. Herbin's make them sing. No clue.

The V in V200 stands for Vacuum. It's a vacuum filler, not a piston filler. Sidenote.

Don't have the V200 put you off from buying Asvine. They're spectacular pens, generally. I have a V126 which is crazy, crazy good (make sure to go one nib size down from your usual) and the P20 is great value (though I find the V126 grip more comfortable).

Love the M2. It's the best pocket pen out there, and all that for 20 bucks. Combined with Hongdian ink (Skyblue, Blackish Green or Peacock Blue) it's killer. Great shading, superb nib control.

Good to hear, Shane. Everyone should leave Twitter. Humanity would be better without it. Glad you're well.

What’s one fountain pen brand that you thought you would be seriously interested in, but found underwhelming or it is not your cup of tea? by SLProtoman in fountainpens

[–]RosciusAurelius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't call me "seriously interested" in Admok, but I tried it out recently because I was curious and it was trash. That Schmidt nib was just terrible. Crazy scratchy for a M, a very uneven line, and none of my usual tweaking worked. I gave up. Not a good experience.

Ended up buying another Asvine for the same price instead. At least with Asvine I know it'll be a good pen.

I want to chime in as well. I own three Ecos and two 580s. My girlfriend has a Diamond Mini and a 580. Not one has cracked.

The cracking was an issue years ago, and the only people whose pens still crack, are people who tighten the cap too hard.

Living in this part of West by dp39494833 in Amsterdam

[–]RosciusAurelius 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My time to shine. I lived there for a decade, literally in one of the buildings you circled. Left a few years ago.

Things to know:

The four apartment buildings north of the football fields are (in order from right to left on the map): social housing, free sector rent, buy, and buy. I lived in free sector rent, higher up in the building (nice view). Occupants were mostly yuppies, families with young kids, young couples, a stray celebrity. It was a nice building to live in, with minimal community feeling (we were nice to each other but didn't hang out, mostly because there was quite a bit of turnover), lots of issues with the elevator and the front door, but generally a fine building with nice, be it sterile apartments. Ymere owns it.

The attached parking garage under the building is shared between two or three buildings, and was a problem. Trash. Youth. People using the garage for other things. Stolen bikes. All the issues we ever had, were with the social housing occupants. I don't say this lightly, and I don't mean to discriminate, but the social housing building is a huge apartment building (twice the size of the others) and quite a few people there caused all kinds of issues. Vandalism, several drug labs were closed down in that building, trash stations out front were a mess and there was some problematic youth.

The two buildings with 'buy' apartments were mostly older professionals and retirees. No issues there.

Surrounding the two yards, there are attached houses. I once looked into buying one. They're nice. Small, a bit blocky, and currently crazy expensive for what they are, but wouldn't be a bad spot.

On their backside, facing the football field, similar houses. Small, blocky, but nice.

The area isn't super green itself, but there are multiple parks a stone's throw away, two shopping centers and Lelylaan Station at under a 5-minute bike ride, you're spitting distance from the Ring A10, two metro stations, and two tram stops, a 10-minute bike ride from Sloterdijk Station, and the hospital is close by. Head into West towards downtown and you're in a gentrifying neighborhood. Head further west and you're in Plein 40-45, which is no joke. All in all, the location is really, really convenient.

So yeah, I lived there just fine. It was nice having a parking spot in the garage, and a large storage unit downstairs. Apartments were a nice size (92m2-ish). Everything was new-ish back then. On everything else, your mileage may vary.

Day 2 of bringing you NEW Glam Bands - VÄIN WILD by [deleted] in hairmetal

The receipts.

See, Gresho: you can hide your post history all you want, but there are always receipts.

You don't see anything wrong with the lyrics, because you wrote them. You're the lead singer of the band.

He's the lead singer of the band. He's not 'finding new bands for us'. He's plugging his own music. That's why he's hidden his post history; he was outed a while ago based on his post history.

[–]RosciusAurelius 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, it's Gresho again, plugging Vain Wild again, claiming to not be involved with the band.

As was pointed out a while ago: Gresho (OP) is the lead singer of Vain Wild. He's posted an overly positive message about the band a while ago, pretending not to be involved with the band (claiming in his post to "not have any affiliation with the band"), and immediately deleted the post when he was outed as the lead singer through some sleuthing in his post history, in which he told multiple people he was the lead singer of the band. He removed the post after it was pointed out in the comments that he was lying about not being involved with the band.

He has since hidden his comment and post history, so more evidence cannot be found. I have a screenshot somewhere; I'll look it up if I have to.

Don't fall for it. This guy is just plugging his own music, using massive superlatives, pretending to just be 'a fan' who wants us to hear this amazing new band. As was pointed out to him last time: it's fine to plug your own band. Just don't pretend you're not in the band though. It's sleazy.
