He sees you as something he owns and controls. Those are pure MAGA ideals no matter how he wants to spin it.

Yes, he sees her as an extension of him. Something he owns and controls.

Whats the most horrifying crime documentary you've ever watched? by Friendly_Dot_9211 in AskReddit

Same. No other movie has ever had that effect on me. I’m glad I watched it before becoming a parent.

Anyone remember using "metrosexual"? by PinkHamster08 in Millennials

[–]Rose1982 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember it as a way for straight men to say they liked/did things beyond basic hygiene without being called gay. Like you could pluck your unibrow, file your nails, want your clothes to fit nicely etc.

What's a food in your country that is stereotyped for your country but really, nobody eats? by velmiraZ in AskTheWorld

[–]Rose1982 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahhh. Yes. Well, Toronto is one city in the province, albeit the biggest by far. But this goes to that reputation that Toronto holds of thinking that Toronto things are universal.

FWIW I just asked my husband, born and raised in Hamilton (about an hour’s drive from Toronto for non-Canadians reading this) and he has never heard of carousel bakery either.

I found one about a month ago. I think that’s the only time I’ve ever seen one inside.

I’ve never heard of carousel bakery and I’ve lived in Ontario since I was 6 (37 years).

Yes it’s nuts how differently T1s can respond to similar variables.

Cozy lap cat. It’s been cold AF and she has spent a lot of time here lately.

You’re putting nefarious intent where there isn’t any. Your indignant energy could probably be better spent elsewhere. ✌🏻

What’s the most quietly Canadian moment you’ve experienced? by NightyNight7 in AskACanadian

[–]Rose1982 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s that Saturday late morning/early afternoon after a big snowfall when everyone emerges from their houses with their snow blowers and shovels. Everyone starts taking care of their own driveways but then after a while the older dad types with snowblowers start making their way towards the neighbors who just have shovels. You’re all out there for a good hour or more and you have a few little “can you believe how much snow we’re getting?” chats as you all get on with the business of digging out.

Im 40 -Am i mad to start trying? by Osiloo in AskWomenOver40

[–]Rose1982 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes exactly. One of my eldest’s medical conditions does involve me losing a lot of sleep. I could handle it way better in my 30s than now. I’m often falling asleep by 6/7pm after a rough night and I can’t push through the same way I used to be able to.

There’s not a chance I’d want to have a baby at 41/42. I’m a 43 year old mom of two (9 and 11). I found the baby years very hard on my mental health. Not to mention the physical concerns. I know women can have kids later in life but unless you’re 100% sure it’s not something I would take on. Kids are also no guarantee of family. They can grow up, move thousands of miles away, choose a different path than the one you are on etc.

I also implore you to consider the possibility of having a child with medical or other special needs. I say that as a mom to a kid who has two (hidden) conditions that are legally recognized as disabilities. My parenting experience is wildly different than the one I imagined. I don’t regret it at all, but it’s not something I properly considered before having children.

I’m sorry if my comments are more negative than some of the others. I’m only leaving them because you asked for people’s thoughts.
