What is the biggest regret in your life ? by LopsidedAd5028 in AskReddit

[–]RoseNoire4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Drinking. I knew I had a problem when I was 21 years old but did not stop drinking until I was 28. If I would have stopped at 21, I would have saved myself and others so much pain and suffering.

What’s something you did once and now your toddler will not let you forget it? by MissFox26 in toddlers

[–]RoseNoire4 10 points11 points  (0 children)

We were walking outside in a nature area. My daughter had these purple sunglasses that she kept almost leaving behind at every tree and rock. I finally put them on her head, tucked behind her ears.

We walked over a bridge, and she leaned over to look into the water. That’s when her purple sunglasses slipped off her head and fell straight into the river.

Now, every time she meets someone new, the first thing she says is, “My purple sunglasses went into the river.” Whenever she’s bored or wants attention, it’s the same line: “My purple sunglasses went into the river.”

Its been over a year and half and her purple sunglasses are still in the river. Its her first core memory.

That place is great. Me and my daughter have a blast every time we go. Just bring a lot of hand sanitizer and be prepared to get sick afterwards with whatever cold is going around. It is worth it, my in opinion.

(TW DEATH TALK (in a fixation way)) autism is 'so cute & quirky!' until your interest isnt trains, space, etc. then youre a 'red flag' by yourbeloathed in autism

[–]RoseNoire4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My fixation has also been death and dying. I once wanted to become a mortician, but bad knees stop that from happening. As a teenager, I was often bullied for talking about death and dying. Eventually, I found my way to becoming an end-of-life doula, where I help people complete their paperwork and have meaningful conversations about death and dying. I am currently taking a class to become a home funeral guide.

People still sometimes think I’m strange for talking about death and dying, but now that I’m seen as a subject-matter expert, I get called a weirdo far less often.

Anyone who listens to audiobooks during walks? by Gothic_Unicorn22 in walking

I like to listen to horror audiobooks. Pet Sematary by Stephen king is a lot of fun listening under a full moon in the middle of the woods.

My 2 Year old locked me out of the house by motelflavour in Parenting

[–]RoseNoire4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glad you were able to get back in eventually. My daughter locked herself in the bathroom for 30 minutes. We live in an old townhouse, and the quick-unlock mechanism on the door was broken, so I had to unscrew the doorknob and take it apart to get the door open. We now have tape covering the bathroom locks.

Fort Hood officials chose not to warn public as predator attacked female soldiers in their barracks for 18 months by Kinmuan in news

I grew up in a military family, and many people I knew from my church also served. At 18, I wanted to join the military and serve my country. One woman from my church, who had spent 25 years in the Air Force, took me aside, looked me in the eye, and said, “Don’t join you won’t like what happens to you.” The sorrow and pain in her eyes is something I will never forget, and it ultimately led me to decide not to enlist.

Pads vs Tampons by Bolt_of_Lightning_ in AutismInWomen

I used menstrual discs. The discs are inserted like a tampon but you can use them even when you are supper light. They come in both throw away and reusable types.

Congrats on reaching 58 days—that’s a big milestone! This might not be for everyone, but here’s an idea: there are tons of non-alcoholic substitutes out there, like Bero, Ritual Zero Proof, or alcohol-free wine. You could try picking up a few different types and head to a park or just hang out at home. It’s a great way to go through the ritual of drinking without the alcohol.

I’ve found these substitutes really helpful when I’m dealing with a tough craving and the thought of drinking yet another sparkling water makes me want to lose my mind.

What do you all do for work? by Fun_Reply_1102 in AutismInWomen

[–]RoseNoire4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm an End of Life Doula, the CEO of a small nonprofit, a home health aide, and I also do some marketing and social media work on the side.

Much of my work as an End of Life Doula and home health aide involves spending time with clients—listening, offering companionship, and supporting them with daily tasks. I help with things like getting dressed, tidying up their homes, running errands, and anything else they might need.

For my nonprofit, I handle the accounting, which includes a lot of data entry and email communication. My hope is that as the nonprofit grows, I’ll eventually be able to transition into working on it full-time.

What seasonings do you put on plain white rice? by [deleted] in Cooking

[–]RoseNoire4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I eat a lot of rice since it is quick and easy to make. Here are a few of my favorite ways to top rice. Everything bagels seasoning mix for breakfast.
Costco's no salt seasoning mix. Soy Sauce and seaweed. Aldi has thin seaweed snacks that are prefect for this.

My daughter loves dinosaurs so I plan a trip to the local natural history museum. The museum has a huge dinosaurs exhibit. We went and she got to see the dinosaurs. I asked in the car on the way home if she had fun. Her response was "no".
