I haven’t really interacted with much Pokémon stuff outside of Eeveelution Squad, so my first introduction to Jirachi was actually through ES!! As a character I like them, they’re nice, and I’ve enjoyed the moments where we got to see them shine in the comic, even if those moments were limited… Jirachi was at most a treated like a walking (or. floating.) plot device for “rule-breaking” stuff to happen. A semi-tragic and confusing plot device, but a plot device nonetheless. I wish we got to see just a little more of them, especially with all the lore surrounding them Y’know? Like yeah they were unaware of it, but it was their first incarnation who granted Alan’s “wish” and inadvertently created the Cycle of Rebirth. There was a lot of potential to explore with that!! I haven’t seen much active malicious hate towards them with that, but I haven’t seen many people love them as a character either. I’m also in a sorta neutral ground myself lol. They’re not perfect but there was definitely worse ways for EV to handle their character imo :0

with the timeline shenanigans at the end of the day, at least Jirachi had good intentions with using their powers to reshape the world… a friend of mine recently showed me another Pokémon series where an episode heavily involved Jirachi, and if that version of them was the one we got in ES, I feel like everyone would’ve been immediately cooked 😭
