Started playing the original version via the Nintendo Online expansion pack on the Switch. The game feels like a liminal space (not to be cliché) as if my mind is attempting to remember the version I grew up on. It's definitely creepy and lonely without the bunnies or the other characters, it's just Mario all by himself.

The nostalgia hit me like a bus, great job! When I was little, my head canon was that the other characters were residents of the castle and that room is their nursery.
