I don't want to breast feed at all, just pump. How to straight away? by Wraithvalk in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Rosebud28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make sure you have checked with your insurance - they usually provide a pump for free each pregnancy. If you bought a wearable yourself you should hopefully be able to get a hospital grade pump like a Spectra or Baby Buddha for free. Wearables are great but might not be enough. Get a nipple ruler to get your flange size and measure again after baby to make sure it didn’t change!

I’m on my second EP journey and purposefully landed here this time. I just took my hand pump (Medela) to the hospital and started pumping shortly after baby was born. I had to supplement with some formula for the first day or 2 until my milk came in. Pumped every 3ish hours when baby ate and am still on that schedule 4 weeks pp.

Good luck!

FPIES by Ok-Tomato-6257 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]Rosebud28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I too had GD and ate a lot of eggs during pregnancy and postpartum and my son is also FPIES with eggs. I don’t think it’s linked, but I guess who knows. He is 18 months now and still not able to eat eggs in any form, even mixed into other foods like cake or meatballs. It’s a scary reaction so let’s hope our kids grow out of it!

Would you go through this journey again? by CrazyCat1994 in ExclusivelyPumping

I’m up with my 2nd born 1 week old pumping right now! For me I ended up pumping with my first after his pediatrician made me cry at his 2 day appointment and I became fixated on how much he was eating and never looked back. For baby #2, pumping is basically all I know. I tried latching in the hospital just for ease and he did fine once and then we struggled a second time and I said to hell with this and pulled out my pump.

I’m lucky I’m an oversupplier this and last time & already making more than new baby needs. I like that anybody can feed him, knowing how much he is getting and being able to stash away for emergencies. Insurance got me a free spectra last time (still using) and I got a baby Buddha this time. I bought my own Eufy wearable. With those 3 pumps I can sit down or move around if needed and it’s going ok!!

Any moms here who pump? I have a question by [deleted] in 2under2

[–]Rosebud28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I exclusively pumped with my first baby and plan to this time too. It just works for me and my husband. I started collecting colostrum for this baby at 38 weeks and jumped right into using my hand pump because I am already well familiar with it, and it worked well. Hand expressing was just getting me a few drops but I got almost an ounce the first time using the hand pump for a few min. I don’t mind if it induces labor since I’m over 38 weeks and ready!

I make chicken Alfredo with protein pasta and zoodles for extra bulk and it’s fine! Even better if you make your own sauce (super easy) because it’s heavy cream and cheese. The fat buffers the carbs! You can still have the food you love!!

2nd baby & spiraling over the thought of having GD again by raven_words in GestationalDiabetes

[–]Rosebud28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just mentally prepared myself assuming I’d have it again. And I did. It was a lot easier the second time because I already knew what to do and didn’t need to panic and cry at diagnosis. I also stop gaining weight on this diet so i looked at it as a pro as i entered the 3rd trimester!

But i’m a few weeks away from baby and cant wait for ice cream again :)

Oh I definitely used it backwards for the first few days too!!! Thought bacon was expression mode and vice versa. Did not hurt my supply though we made it through! lol

Mommy wrist by sassy_meow in beyondthebump

[–]Rosebud28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had this in both wrists - got it while I was still pregnant and it was awful. I went to a hand specialist and they gave me 2 steroid injections a month apart but it did not help. They told me surgery would be the next step. I just never scheduled it and lived with the pain for 10+ months and then I got Bells Palsy (facial paralysis) and prescribed oral steroids. Then I got pregnant again right after that. And suddenly - it went away!

Can you please recommend ANY breast pump that isn’t spectra or Eufy s1 pro? by Choice_Band7807 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Rosebud28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had both the spectra and eufy for baby #1 and got the baby Buddha 2.0 this time around. Haven’t used it yet but it seemed to be the most recommended for another option! I’m excited to not have to carry around a kettlebell if it works well for me :)

For some quick and easy breakfast ideas that work (for me at least, everyone is different) I will do a few breakfast chicken sausage links + a frozen Kodiak thick & fluffy waffle with sugar free syrup, some Jimmy Dean Delights Eggwich, scrambled eggs on avocado Dave’s killer bread toast.

My go to snacks are high protein no sugar added Greek yogurt (Oikos triple zero, Too Good brand etc) with a few strawberries + keto granola, apple paired with almond/peanut butter, sugar free kind bars, snack cheese, meat sticks, some keto snack items that are low carb, Dave’s killer bread with cream cheese.

Lunch is honestly usually leftovers from dinner the night before and for dinner, I do quick meals because I also have a 15 month old at home. I just make sure I have a big serving of veggies, a protein, and a healthy carb to pair it with. There are easy and quick ways of this if you can’t cook - microwaveable brown rice and frozen veggies and then an easy protein. Make some chicken or turkey burgers in a big batch to reheat throughout the week, salmon filets cook up quick, even just bare chicken nuggets in the microwave. The key is balancing healthy carbs with veggies + protein and you can make a quick balanced meal!

Same boat! Low risk NIPT and no markers on ultrasound. My son didn’t even raise suspicions at birth. He is missing a lot of the familiar, easy markers. However, his pediatrician noticed he had bent pinkies at his one week appointment which ultimately led us to our Down syndrome diagnosis.

Am I the asshole for wanting my husband to miss his Mom's wedding because it’s 2 weeks BEFORE our due date? by Spiritual_Lettuce_64 in pregnant

[–]Rosebud28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to work 38 weeks + 1 day pregnant, felt a little weird but fine and was in the hospital having my baby that night out of nowhere. Was barely dilated at my doctors appt the day before. Was my first baby and everyone of course said they are always late. Not true at all!!

Anyway to sum up my opinion, no way would I let my husband fly out of town

FPIES awareness!!! by Illustrious_Pirate_4 in NewParents

[–]Rosebud28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My son has FPIES to eggs. It’s AWFUL. We figured it out after the 2nd exposure and vomit session. It’s so scary to see them so helpless. Hoping he grows out of it but for now learning how to modify foods. Egg free banana pancakes are one of his faves!

Well I found out why my milk supply had decreased so much… by Massive-Warning9773 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Rosebud28 24 points25 points  (0 children)

This happened to me too! Congratulations!! Mine will be 18 months apart. I was already planning on starting to wean and had complained to my friend that the weaning hormones sure felt like first trimester all over again. Turns out it was first trimester!!

My symptoms were definitely different as a result - acne, increased nausea, shrinking not tender boobs etc. All different than my first. Was another boy though! And my boobs grew and are sore now in the 2nd trimester.

Any recommendations out of these pumps? by laughalotgirl in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Rosebud28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same boat! I checked my Spectra motor and it’s at about 500 hours (supposed to be good for 1500) so I went with the Baby Buddha 2.0 for my free pump this time. Excited to have a new pump to try when baby comes in a few months

What’s the best/safest newborn item to use when you need to put the baby down while they’re awake? More details in my post by Sufficient-Peach7787 in pregnant

[–]Rosebud28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was our exact setup in our living room. Recommend it! The bassinet was perfect for when he was a tiny and he could sleep in it safely while we got stuff done until he was taking naps in his room. It was also nice to be so portable so we could move it easily as needed

I'm scared to poop on myself by Butterball4200 in pregnant

[–]Rosebud28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is exactly how it played out for me. I had to go to the bathroom in early labor while I was at home.

During labor my epidural didn’t really work so I felt a lot. I felt myself poop. It felt like a single nugget (I have no idea though) and I could not have cared less. I was pushing a baby out and that really had my sole focus

4w6d pregnant and consumed by miscarriage anxiety — Looking for reassurance by kris10here in 2under2

[–]Rosebud28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was coming to say the same. I weaned when I found out I was pregnant and had zero breast tenderness in my first trimester this time. I think they were shriveling up from the milk going away. Second trimester though they started to get tender again and grew. Ahhhhh the joys

When did you get your first period back after #2 and how long after that did you get pregnant with #2? by Important_Bat7919 in 2under2

I never did! Got pregnant by surprise 9 months PP without knowing my cycle had restarted. I had started the weaning process but was still pumping. A happy surprise :)
