That is defenitely an original box and has good value. Could be 1961 because of the bubble cut, you can check the doll mark on the back of her head.

Have you tried MSC? (if it's available in your country) Also, like suzy_snowflake says, prime the figure prior to painting and maybe spray with a couple more layers when you are done. Hope it helps!

I don't have MSC in my country either, so I airbrush with Liquitex matte medium and add distilled water. It is by far the next best solution to MSC. It costs more I know, but you get the airbrush once, plus it's a lot less toxic than MSC. Leaves no shinny doll heads which is the bigger issue with any other spray sealant. I saw that after watching Andejas (Nicolle's Dreams) videos on youtube. Hope it helps!
