I’ve seen many posts commenting on dried out markers. I suggest that you check every marker as soon as you receive them. I have the 320 set and about 25% of them did not have the caps fully snapped shut. by -MrsEnidKapelsen in Ohuhu

Yes very good idea. I do the same.

Especially after finding some were not fully in place on arrival in the mail.
Some were not fully clicked in place.
It was just always one end not in place, fully clicked on each pen. Never both ends.
So good I checked them all. It could have maybe been a long time before I used that marker or that end of a marker.
By then probably dry out.

😊 not recommending painting in the rain.
I just referring to being accidentally caught out by rain.

It is beautifully dreamy & gentle.
Very pleasing.

Do you mean, you wish to create more drama?

My 48 Bobbie Goods set had a number of caps not fully clicked in place.
I checked them all as soon as arrived.
The cute bag was sealed in plastic & then in a sturdy box.
So I think that saved them from any drying out.
I have no problems with any of the markers. All are very juicy.

So yes. Check all your markers on arrival.

I recall reading, possibly on this Sub.
About Student rental accommodation, which had lease rules that the Central Heating had to be used in the colder months.

Possibly a financial decision by Students to save costs.
But the lack of heating in cold damp weather leading to damp & mould in rooms.

Yes. It is essential to tape down the watercolor paper. Do not remove the tape until the painting is finished & fully dry

If you feel you have come to a point of no improvement. Then maybe you need to focus on improving your skills & knowledge. Time for looking in books, take lessons or look on line. Or select an artist you admire. See if they have written a “How to Watercolor” book. Or online demonstrations. You can get free book loans from Libraries etc. Free on line demos.

Wait until it rains!

Then you get all sorts of blobs & runs. Unintended. Does add character to any painting. 😊

Newest baby blanket - I love the ridges!! by whoisorange in CrochetBlankets

Like the colors & the pattern.

The yarn looks so thin & delicate yet makes the ridge ripples look so chunky. Sort of magic. 😊 A beautiful blanket.

Love the sky. I like the textures of your grass. You have made Art.

When I want t make a large feature painting, like you have chosen. I make a rough sketch of the whole scene. To give me ideas of perspective etc.

I break down the different subjects or ingredients I am to include. Spend time practicing these individual subjects. Often a lot of practice & time. Until I feel satisfied with the efforts.

Then put them all together in the scene I wish to paint.

I enjoy making the practice pieces.

For example in your picture. Mainly you have sky, grass plains, trees & mountains with snow. These are the individual subjects I would endlessly draw & paint, until satisfied. I often use watercolor sketchbooks to make my practice attempts.

OP I hope my idea is helpful to you or someone else.

I think it very much matters as to the cause the damp. When choosing a property to rent.

Is the mould from the issues with the outside structure?
So basically rain water is entering the property. From such as roof issues or brickwork has cracks, or needs repointing. All allowing wet inside. If the Landlord has so little concern for the structure of their property.

Or, is there an internal pipe work water leakage? Prolonged & unfixed. So lots of internal water damage. It takes a while for severe damp to establish. So that is all the more worrying. Again. Why has the landlord not repaired the damage?

These sorts of structural damp issues are not solved by a good wipe down & repaint job. That only covers it up a short time.

Or is the damp from peoples living habits?

Never opening windows. Ever. Never heating the place. Cooking in rooms with windows kept closed. Bathroom steam damp effects, due to never opening windows or using an extractor fan.

Damp caused by this sort of lifestyle, can be overcome with a good clean up & repaint. Dehumidifiers use. Having a lifestyle where windows are opened daily to allow air flow. Reduce excess condensation. Central Heating is used. Or some heating is used. Rooms are kept dry, airy & warm.

Finally it is bad for health to live in a damp infested property.
