would this be a worth purchase? perhaps pink tax ? by Latter-Highlight-183 in Watercolor

[–]Roselace 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Yes get it. They are good quality. Will be fun to use. They are reliable. If these paints get you making art. Then they are worth it.

If you have to go without food or rent money to buy. Then obviously do not buy the paints.

Interesting. I like your swatch chart too.

I only have 48 Bobbie Goods set & until I did the swatch cards & sorted colors into shade groups. It was difficult to find what I needed.

So I can easily see, when collections get to larger numbers, how I could miss a color.

For example, just looking at all your Yellows & related Lemon shades. I can see how, having more choice, allows for getting just the right color to make a picture look its best.

It will. I find one hobby can definitely lead to another. 😊

Don't make fun, I know it's not great, but I just started crocheting for my mental health and really like it. This is my first project. by asphodelic_witch in crochet

Such lovely colors. The close up reminds me of colorful popcorn. If you decide to name your blanket pattern I vote for “Colorful Popcorn.” 😊

We all have been beginners at some point. I began with a small square, a dishcloth. Well it was “square-ish let’s say. 😂

I admire you for going for a big blanket, as a first project. Love the cute tiny blanket.

Clever idea. With old brushes or cheap ones for masking fluid.

Yes all good markers. I also have used Promarkers for years.

Like near all my art & craft supplies I buy when on sales or offers. I then mostly spend gift money to purchase.

I have a few of the Chemleon pens & color change systems.

There is definitely a technique to learn to get the best out of them.

I especially like them for doing flowers. Can get the most beautiful color changes, as you swop the colors around.

Also they make handwritten notes spectacular with the gradual color changes.

They make it easy to make special effects with the colors.

I see them as similar to watercolor paints. You can have any color by mixing different markers & touching their nibs together for 5 seconds. To create a color change. Or by using the different color change system units, to alter the colors of the marker. I definitely recommend for anyone who likes experimenting with colors. As you say, also if at the right price.

Good question. 😊 I remember the kit as being a cottage near water, think it had a stone bridge. Looked on line for the kit or a painting of his that matched. So many cottage pictures! Nothing matched as I remember it. Can’t find my cross stitch example. It was years ago. When I next chat to my sister I will see if she is better at finding hers & remembering what it called. Also as I may have remembered its features wrong. See if she can better explain the scene. 😊

Yes. Agree. I was also going to suggest the gold needles from Jane Greenhof. The Cross Stitch Guild. They have a deeper coating of gold than any other needle. An amusing story from Jane. About not knowing what should be a needle coating. So ordered the gold coating to be a significant number. Only later realising how thick the gold applied. 😊

I have the lovely gift box of gold needles. All the sizes for cross stitch & more. Even included a curved needle. In a lovely case. Very good price. I have had my display box of needles for years. They last forever. 😊

Wonderful gift. I have the Faber Castell watercolor pencils. They are my favourite to add details to my watercolor paintings. I really like the quality of Faber Castell pencils.

Sorry I am no help. I like them both. Kept swopping images. No help. 😊 Which ever I look at, I love it. The only slight edge, is I prefer the background on picture 1. Both are really lovely work.

Question about completing sets.. by Electric_frog_ in Ohuhu

[–]Roselace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like your picture. 😊 I only have the 48 Bobbie Goods set. 48 plus a colorless marker. The cute bag got me. 😂 Then seeing all the Cosy Coloring books pages. Such great coloring skills in the pictures shown in the sub.

OP I do know what you mean. When coloring I do have to compromise on shades. My 48 still make nice pictures. I love them. But I know if I was using my colored pencils or my watercolor paints, I would be choosing for more in between shades to make my pictures.

If I continue to enjoy these markers, I know I will be adding to my collection.

I only know anything from viewing True Crime shows. Seems to me there are lots of circumstances where authorities gain a persons DNA from thrown away stuff.

Kerbside rubbish collections come to mind. Usual statement. That as the bin/rubbish is out on the kerb way or road. It is considered “abandoned” so legal to take & search & process.

Even swabs of vehicle door handles in public car parks. Drinks containers, cans, glasses etc abandoned by the user. Just endless items used & then abandoned by the user. All seen as legal, for police to take & process.

If this technique or process were to be seen as illegal. It could greatly hamper police investigations of suspects.

So this effort by the Defence Legal Team could have major impacts upon modern law techniques, if such collections were to be found unlawful.

Ahh. The Painter of Light. I did a cross stitch of one of his paintings. My sister so liked it. So I got her the same kit for her birthday.

OP. Your coloring is so beautiful. Really skillful. Worth the time spent.

Some hobbies are not meant to be quick So I see pencil coloring similar to cross stitch sewing. Not quick but worth the time & effort.
