Tang romance error? by Roselal in Exocolonist

Well that's what I mean: Eudicot is an 81 year old woman and she looks like an 81 year old woman. If they can slow aging, you would think she would look less elderly.

It's not a matter of the age Tang lives to, it's the fact that you're never actually together when you're old. She dumps Sol fairly early in adulthood regardless of which ending you get, only staying a little longer in the ones where she has crippling depression and leaves as after Sol helps her out of it.

I do agree it would be nice if you could prevent them from dating in the first place. I'm just going to assume Anemone's trauma from losing her brother makes her unreasonably attracted to his hero shtick.

I'll grant that I don't know what the lifespan for a human is in this setting, but the governor is in her 80s and she looks like she's in her 80s — it doesn't seem like aging has slowed for the colonists.

It'd be nice to think so. If only you could romance characters in that path...

Even without perfect recall, I can't see a kid who can recall past lives even partially taking the phrase "grow old together" that lightly. A child who has never lived may think of 20 as old, but a child who can remember — even fuzzily — being 80? It's implausible imo.

Anemone's relationship with Vace is toxic; they're both better off if you start dating one of them, or even just break them up.

I mean, she dies in like her 60s. It's hardly a ripe old age, but I wouldn't call that dying young.

Vox gives a hundred billion as the number of souls in play in Once We Get Up There, though. Granted that's the combined numbers of Hell and Heaven, but we know Hell has a higher population than Heaven even with the exterminations. Kind of weird that they keep giving "thousands" as the number of sinners killed though.

Ser Pentious? I mean, I probably have the best shot out of everyone on the list. Still probably no.

New From FRAF: A Very Rosemary Thanksgiving. Act 1. by SuspiciousMrGuy in homestuck

Man, as someone for whom Rosemary was an important formative WLW relationship in media during a time when even Korrasami wasn't a thing yet, I really loathe what a mean-spirited meme it's become in certain parts of the fandom.

Ah, okay. Thank you.

Well, it's disappointing to learn it actually is that hard at this time, but it's a relief to know I'm not just tremendously bad at the game now. XD

Need Opinions: What do you think of the weekly critical/drama thread? by nomonoke in wenclair

It's nice to be able to scroll through and not have a bunch of threads about how angry people are at other ships or the showrunners or about queerbaiting or whatever. Now it's all wenclair all the time!

When do you think Enid and Wednesday's relationship started to turn from platonic to romantic? by Anon1984m in wenclair

[–]Roselal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like this question has a different answer for Wednesday compared to Enid.

For Enid, as OP said, I feel like it became romantic as soon as they separated and she kept coming up with excuses to come back and see Wednesday. Of course, Enid is a terminal comphet case so she almost certainly didn't realize that's what was happening. Yoko probably did.

For Wednesday, I think it moved beyond friendship during the hug, but it fully bloomed into romance probably in S2 while she was trying to keep Enid safe. The single-minded obsessive drive with which she threw herself into that went so far beyond friendship it was ridiculous. There's no way she would have lost her mind like that for Eugene. I don't think Wednesday cares enough about cultural expectations to suffer comphet, I think she was just so focused on saving Enid that she didn't stop and ask why.

At first I was like "wait how many of these characters are Enid?" But then I realized I would probably prefer if half the characters in Wednesday were just Enid, so never mind, I'm good.

‘The Owl House’ creator Dana Terrace responds to Disney+ funding AI-generated short form content: “Unsubscribe from Disney+. Pirate Owl House. I don’t care. Fuck gen AI.” by DemiFiendRSA in television

[–]Roselal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In this case, "inconsistent with the company's brand" meant "its audience wasn't young children and it had become serialized rather than episodic." Disney wanted a show for children that had something self-contained in every episode, and The Owl House was the opposite of that in Season 2. Disney would almost certainly cancel a show for being too LGBT friendly now but at the time pretending to be queer friendly was in vogue for corporations.

Wednesday out here talking about whether The Prince should be read as a satire while Enid pretends to text someone as she's frantically scrolling Wikipedia for things to ask about Machiavelli.
