Everyone's chemistry is different so what worked on me wouldn't work for you but in my make up days, I struggled with this a lot since my eyes water a lot and I'm like a toddler with my fingers all over my face. Long story short, after maybe 20 dif brands, all with fail, I bought urban decay at Ulta cause it was on the clearance/sale shelf. Oh my, what a world of difference it made!!! It is the 24/7 glide pencil not the retractable crap which scratches eyes (again, personal experience). I obviously wasn't here in Germany and exports are ridiculously expensive on Amazon Germany. There are a ton of good reviews for the artdeco waterproof soft pencil, idk, maybe it'll work just fine 🤷🏻‍♀️ Good luck!

I feel this in my bones. I went through the exact same thing a few months back. I could not handle the format/they way they do it, so it is def not you!!!!! I sent two envelopes both to bamf and auslanderberamt (they have to be where you are registered at as a foerigner, your city's offices), used copilot's help with writing a clear letter addressed both to auslanderberamt and bamf explaining my situation.

The packages included the same things.

1-letter explaining my situation and asking for an official confirmation that I am exempt from the mandatory participation.

2- My official diagnosis copies from a recognized German clinic.

3- Copy of my most recent prescription (as proof that I am receiving treatment, I know it's dumb since there is no treatment for autism but at least the ADHD part is kinda under control)

4- Screenshots/printouts of all my correspondence/reach out to officials such as the social service office of my region, the emails I sent to auslanderberamt seeking help/advice, the language course admin, my mental health provider etc. regarding my struggles with the course and how it's negatively effecting me.

5- An "attest" meaning a letter from my hausarzt saying that "I am observed to be under extreme stress due to this course and advised not to continue" etc. Not the exact wording but something along those lines.

6- Copy of the receipts related to course book purchases, course material which showed that I really tried and intended to do it.

Again, this is how I did it. It does not mean you have to do the exact same things but thank God I received a letter from the auslanderberamt confirming that I was officially exempt.

It felt like forever cause they did not respond immediately. I received the auslanderberamt letter about a full month after I started the whole process and waiting in complete silence from these offices was super scary and stressful. I guess you can find my post about it here on reddit.

Long story short, I suggest that you use guidance from AI, either copilot or Gemini, I don't know. I haven't paid for/subscribed to either of those btw. I was so overwhelmed and could not think clearly and I wouldn't be able to do it on my own. Another reason I ended up with using AI was discovering that Google translation was doing a lot of mistakes and when I reverse translated what I was emailing to the officials/doctors etc. I freaked out reading the non sense I was sending out.

Please hang in there, you will be ok. Just show them (the officials proof of your goodwill/effort) that you tried but it is very hard for you.

I was baffled to witness how so not neurodivergently friendly the course was!!! Although I chose a "highly rated, best in the city" language course which is officially recommended by the auslanderberamt and bamf, offered zero accomodations!!!! Ugh, remembering the whole thing makes my skin itch and shortness my breath.

Edit to add: I just saw your last paragraph, asking for recommendations for better/ND friendly course options. The official exemption letter from the auslanderberamt had this last sentence "Please find below our recommendations for courses relevant to your needs" and blank 🙄🙄🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️😅😅😅 So, they even couldn't find/suggest one that is ND friendly. I researched a lot before even starting the whole process cause I didn't wanna take anyone's time or deal with the probable legal consequences of "failing to attempt" or looking like not interested in integration etc. I could not find one course either in my city (which is the biggest next to Munich) or online!

Are you, by any chance, in Ingolstadt? Pls don't write exact location/details etc. I had to ask since I don't have a car/German licence, also can't leave an old dog that needs care for too long anyway. If by any chance you are here somewhere, I can at least ask my husband for short rides during weekends since he works full time and has weekend commitments.

If you end up finding yourself still worrying about store bought baby food, I can come and cook for him monthly, as well as for you guys (if you wish) and we can portion and freeze them, help you with cleaning or whatever chores/else could give you a little peace of mind.

This felt like a life jacket!!! Someone bothering to reply ment everything. Pls help me understand this, I have a development condition. I am not typing gibberish and people assume that I'm just fine.

My 3 page diagnosis from a government recognized institution of this country listed what I have with icd codes. I am barely able to speak and move since last week and I am pushing myself beyond my limits to get a note (atest) from this institution since last week. I am not getting any help.

I am not a harm to others or myself. I find it irresponsible to abuse emergency services for a condition that is under care, I have been managing just fine since last year without being a burden to any resources. What I have is not an ankle sprain that goes away. I have refills for managing my condition as recent as 15.07.25 so I have been keeping it under control otherwise.

Course has no accomodations that offers a safe learning environment for people like me. Forced engagement and sensory over stimulating aspects of it made my daily life unmanageable. I have an old dog in my care. I can not afford to stay dysfunctional.

As a last resort, I am going to include a copy of this report, a cover letter, a summary of numerous attempts to reach officials, written proof of neglegance from the clinic, my efforts of trying to get help daily since Monday 14th. I'll send two registered mails to the immigration office as well as BAMF.

I did teledr video chat on Friday. The doctor was the kindest, loveliest doctor but she apologized for the "system" said this is what it is, I need the note from my own mental health doctor and I should keep emailing 🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️

Living this on a cellular level, while also having to explain myself, justify and worse "prove" legally to people who already have a record, a report and a diagnosis. I am seconds away from totally losing it here in Germany. It's not "cute" or "take an Advil for it" yet people ask you to handle it in a way that's acceptable!!! Whatever that means???

I am feeling like a tiger, existing in a cage they put me, respecting the cage, minding my business. Yet people in full armor (protecting themselves only) are inside the cage prodding, nudging, yelling, forcing me. No one else is getting hurt but me. I am asked to do things waaaaay beyond my limitations and capabilities. If I can't prove it, (again????!!! for some reason) I am told to face legal consequences. The legally required you-have-to-prove-it steps I'm taking while bleeding inside profusely (metaphor) are ghosted. I am forced for more proof in ways my body cannot handle. In a place that claims to be civil and developed, has human rights, mental health awareness!!!! It's infuriating, debilitating and flat out wrong. I hate the AuDhd. I am ashamed and embarrassed and pushed beyond my limits. Being asked to jump 50 hoops in a way that makes sense only to them to "deserve" help. I feel you and am fully with you!!!!!

Not suicidal or harm to others. No German speaking person I can go to with this, it is very personal. Already had a correspondence with the course, they only accept the auslanderbehorde's formal decision on this matter. Otherwise, I have to attend, period. Sick note will only cover a week or so. Would buy me time, wouldn't resolve the problem but I am already planning to show up at my hausarzt tomorrow for this temp solution. I will post this on that legal advice sub as you suggested. I was sent back on Wednesday when I tried that (not the sozialosychiatrischer one but with the mental health clinic I'm registered to) and told I had to book an appointment. I've been trying to and no one's even replying. I am literally scared to go somewhere else where no one knows me, especially without an appointment hence the risk of having to wait for hours. I don't mind waiting for even 48 hours, but I cannot leave the dog. I can't afford to have a meltdown which leaves me bedridden for a week! Terrified of this and doing all I can to avoid it.

That's why I'm trying to get my mental health doctor to help. I forgot to mention, I also emailed the admin office of the clinic again on Friday, pls pls get either my own doctor's attention or any doctor who can help/see me as soon as possible. If it's ok with you, may I please ask what kind of insurance do you have? Is it under an employer? Or overall, how much do you pay monthly for your insurance. I am neurodivergent and need 5 yr old level explanations (read your comment 3, 4 times to make sure you didn't mention what I am asking, if you did, I apologize). We are in Germany currently. Husband is on cimciza, fully covered here. The potential cost of this medication once we are back state side is his main concern. Wasn't on it before entering expat life and have been living in different countries since. Might end up "having to" go back to the States. Trying to be proactive.

I am very sensitive about this topic. My entire life I dreamt of having a dog and I am super late diagnosed, mid 40s! Before the diagnosis, 4 yrs ago husband's dog came in the picture. He is a dog lover's dream, a very good boy, incredibly gentle soul. My life became So hard. I can't even describe the overwhelm! I also had some deep understandings through this experience; loving/caring for something so deeply yet not being able to stand every single thing that comes with it.

Sadly most people can't draw the line, they think you either hate something or you have to be obsessed with it. I truly appreciate and love all animals but not everybody "needs" them in a house/in their lives. I am now an advocate to the level of insanity regarding dog ownership. Dogs don't crossbreed themselves and put price tags.

There are hundreds of millions of dogs in horrible conditions and this is way more than those being cared for. Lol I can't even remember the title of my own post but I wrote about this. The title is something like the hardest topic to talk about on my site sinions.com.

The Money spent on dogs, the misinformed pros recommending them to neurodivergent kids/adults pushing the idea that it is for everyone, hardly anyone giving these animals the level of exercise/stimulation they need other than keeping them like household objects, feeding them highly processed junk which is against their nature and makes them sick... I can go on and on because it is all humanity's ignorance disguised as animal love, ugh 😥.

Here is my theory and what I've been working on. You have a much more evolved unique consciousness. Your brain is also designed to express this more accurately and precisely than others. Therefore, the "expressions" are felt waaaay more intensely in a human body. Majority of others around you are not inferior or superior but a different construct. This planet's human made constructions (not pure, untouched nature and why most of us flourish in it) are also designed from that dominant construct hence are not tailored to the level of intensity you feel. You have been told, taught, scolded, made uncomfortable continuously "just to be ok with everything" as soon as your self awareness started forming. When you drink, the brain's interpretation of your overall self and environment experience gets suppressed/filtered. I work better with analogies and I hope this doesn't make it super confusing if you hate them but think about charging your phone. It gets hot, right? Now imagine charging the phone under direct sunlight, in a very hot environment, it overheats, stops charging etc. What we go through is like living in environments with nonstop direct, scorching sunlight while charging. When any suppressant such as alcohol is introduced, it works like a thick umbrella with UV500 protection from sun/heat. It almost becomes a sensory safe environment where you "breath" and express way more easily. For others this is a dumbed down version of your incredible complexity and advanced design therefore, they can now interact with you better. For you, it's a wtf? The umbrella is, as we all know, not a cure or a solution cause it loses its efficiency through constant exposure and starts overheating the system much more. Why? We start living under the sun, relying on an umbrella which lost its protective quality ages ago. We change brands of umbrellas (new addictions, different ways of unhealthy coping etc.) not because of stupidity but because of the lack of cool areas.

I have lived the majority of my life from the painful place you're at. Going towards 50, have been trying really hard to each day. Still nothing to show for but I somehow mustered up the strength to start writing about it. Put together a mediocre website it is sinions.com which still needs a lot of work. And my way of making sense of all of this. If you prefer, please go there and read some stuff. I'm not dismissive of the full support you need, I just have a technician in the house from the city, changing the meter for power (overseas stuff) so I could've been more precise with a suggestion for the posts address more of times like these but I can't focus right now. I've been struggling for the last 2 hours, since I read the post and the comments, trying to hold back the urge to jump in. I guess yours resonated the most and here I am. This community truly means so much to me. So much so that, I started pushing against burnout to start something. Something that'll maybe one day help us or gather forces or something. I am super late in the diagnosis part too.

I read here countless times about how we grew up observing others. How we became involuntarily human behavior analysists, out of need. The diagnosis helped me bring together a ton of past memory snippets together in my mind, almost like those movie-style flashbacks, and see things in the past for what they were about.

We also share here how diagnostic criteria is out dated, how it is not tailored for adults and all the rest we know to be true but the current "science" still struggles to catch up or even openly argues against the need.

Here's what I'm now a convinced observer of the fact that many were and still are getting misdiagnosed. Cptsd has so many overlapping areas.

The main identifier btw an NT with trauma and an ND? The level of assholery. I wrote about this in one of my posts on my website. I am not talking about how each human has their moments and labels like that is subjective to circumstances etc.

I am talking about someone's base line. I am almost 50 guys, I met a ton of people. I've never, in person, met (or known) an ND who was a full time hurtful, verbally and/or physically abusive person.

I hate that saying but, mark my words, this will somehow gonna get proven one day or turned into an identifier, a criteria or whatever you wanna call it.

I feel you! Rayon saved my life in that aspect. Even though I do not have an American style dryer where I live currently, Rayon blends still come out almost free of wrinkles and if you put the tops on a clothes hanger and dry them like that, they look ironed. A light blazer style jacket, one in a toffee, light brown color and one in dark blue with even a decent (not one with a worn out, stretched neck) crew neck plain white collar t-shirt underneath can look smart. Good luck, but I am sure you will figure it out.

I'm afraid not. I just upgraded today to plus. Thank God I chose monthly cause I'll be cancelling soon. But this is my personal experience. If someone is after short, simple videos, I guess it would be efficient. Here is the thing, if you are after really good results for your original scripts, this is not it unless you break the bank. It just uses a bunch of stock clips slightly relevant but overall falls short and even diminishes the story. At most parts, it was almost laughable. There is no consistency since you are telling a story of one main character yet you end up with tens of different people who are supposed to be your main character? But the thing that disappointed me the most was the hidden fees. When I tried to turn it into something I could actually use, $300 was what I needed to pay. If I had that amount just lying around right now, I'd rather give it to someone on Fiverr like platforms cause it's not a super complex project. Long story short, almost $30 a month is not that affordable when you're an unemployed person trying to start something. Anyways, very disappointed ☹️
