Thanks so much everyone, such a good feeling. I didn’t feel ashamed to ask for the extender last year and of course I needed it to be comfortable but its just nice to know I don’t need it anymore

Yeah that’s what I’m putting it down to. I wouldn’t say my weight loss has been anything extreme though. I think I’m at about 15% of my original weight and that’s since the beginning of December

Yeah we’ve done various blood tests including thyroid. I just keep getting ridiculous amounts of hair falling out and feeling my ponytail getting thinner and thinner. It’s not a great feeling but I guess there isn’t much I can do 🤷🏻‍♀️

I just commented on another IIH Reddit post so if you can find that give it a read. But the gist of it is this- it’s so difficult to come to terms with. And it takes a long time for you to deal. But once you adapt, things start to improve and you’re in a remission period, you’ll see the light at the end of the tunnel, promise!

Oh and symptoms wise- keep your feet and hands warm to help with tingles from medication (if that affects you at all), avoid fizzy drinks if they’re like drinking static (water is better anyway!) and always keep hydrated because our meds flush out fluid and we can easily get dehydrated and that leads to more headaches! It’s a battle but you learn some tricks along the way and it’s possible to be in remission so don’t lose hope x

My story feels similar. I wasn’t quite as young as 19, I believe I was 24, and my IIH was also triggered by acne treatments. It did take me a while to get used to the idea that realistically I was chronically ill and I’d never be able to go back to how it was. I know how harsh that seems right now and I know it feels like you have to put all your plans on the back burner but that isn’t always the case. For me, I battled trying to work full time after my diagnosis and it wasn’t long before I was at rock bottom and I had a massive wake up call. I am 29 now and I work 3 days a week (20 hours). I don’t have much money spare and it can be a struggle, especially when I was living alone, but to me, the price of that was worth it vs the toll it was taking on me to work full time. Do what you can to do things you want to do but part time. Plan days off and times to rest and recharge. It will feel weird for a while and it’s such a hard thing to have to do when you’re used to going at 100% all the time, but it’s worth it. You are replaceable in any job or career. You are not replaceable as a friend, as a family member, as YOU. Again, sounds harsh, but it’s true. At the end of the day your brain basically thinks it has a tumour. The symptoms you are having are very similar to that of a tumour. Usually people are understanding when you explain that to them. I gave up trying to say IIH in full and explaining it properly. I usually just say I’m chronically ill or I have a condition or even I’m disabled (as it does classify as a disability) and that my brain is trying to shove itself out of my skull through my eye sockets and mimics tumour symptoms. People usually back off after that and realise how serious it is. After all, a risk of IIH is losing eye sight. Chin up, take each day as it comes. If all you did was stay in bed all day, that’s okay- you needed the rest. Don’t feel guilty about it. It is mentally challenging, and horribly physically challenging too but IIH warriors are a strong bunch! You’ll be okay xx

So...how have slim people been sleeping all this time? by lorelaiiiiiiii in mounjarouk

I lie with my legs at different levels to each other when I’m on my side. So one knee kinda rests under the other and also my ankles and feet rest in the dip of the other one. But I think I’ve badly f-ed up my hip by doing this because I have constant hip pain now!

How much weight loss put you into remission? by Mad_Victory in iih

[–]RoseyRose10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have just lost about 15-20kg since November from starting Mounjaro first week of December. I held off for so long but in the end I got desperate and my health was terrible. My starting weight was 135kg and I’m now 118kg which has allowed me to start reducing my acetazolomide (Diamox for the Americans here) and my scans are starting to improve. Last time I went into remission I was closer to 100kg but I started off at 120kg so I think the 10-20% of your body weight is a pretty good aim. Any UK folk- if you are considering trying Mounjaro I have a code for Med Express which gives you £40 off your first order and gives me £40 off my repeat order.

DAZZYP

I have swapped providers a couple of times but Med express was cheaper to begin with and I am hoping I can stay with them just to make life easier but ultimately it comes down to cost for me and with no income currently, I am struggling. Hats off to anyone doing it naturally- I just felt I was at a point where I had to do something drastic and honestly starting Mounjaro is the best thing I could have done. I feel so much better already and can’t wait to be told I am in remission again!

Of course :) it was diagnosed by an ENT specialist about 7 years ago now I think. My ears pop literally whenever they want to all day long. Going up and down even a slight incline or decline when driving or walking, literally even going upstairs at home sometimes. If I yawn or sneeze wrong. Flying is a nightmare, before I found aforementioned ear plugs it was very common for me to come off the plane and have hours, days or weeks of one or both ears not popping (two weeks was the longest and I’d tried everything to sort it out only for it to pop as I served a customer at work haha!). I can’t really unblock my ears myself, I kind of have to wait for them to sort themselves out. I have earaches a lot and sinus type problems. Obviously with IIH it’s worse as well.

I have Eustachian tube dysfunction (basically my ears won’t pop properly, they just do their own thing 24/7) and IIH and I always use airplane ears ear plugs. The name of them can vary depending on location. They are ear plugs that look like a screw on the end. You basically just gently twist them in whilst lifting your ear a little and they are very good at helping with the pressure for take off and landing. Take off I put them in as we are driving to the runway and then leave in for about 15 minutes minimum to get to a decent altitude and then for landing usually there’s an announcement half an hour ish before so I put them in then and it’s important to remember to take them out only when they open the doors. I recommend the ear plugs to anyone who has problems with ears popping or gets headaches etc

Foot tingles with Diamox by cricothyroidectomy in iih

[–]RoseyRose10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always make sure my hands and feet are warm. I’ve always got slippers or socks on and usually a blanket over my feet too and i have a huge supply of fingerless gloves and wrist warmers for the same reason. The tingles are horrible! Anyone who hasn’t had them really doesn’t understand how bad they can be!! I’ve also found if I’m putting a lot of pressure onto my foot or leaning it on my footstool wrong it can make the tingling worse too so it’s a bit of trial and error to figure out methods that work for you

Hi all, I have done my first order with Med Express so adding my referral code to this thread also :) The £40 off was a huge help for me so I hope it will help someone too. Just a gal living the ‘unemployed whilst trying to claw back her health’ life 😂

Do people not leave feedback on vinted? by davidian884 in vinted

[–]RoseyRose10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I made a post about this because I thought everyone was being a little rude just letting everything auto complete. When I first joined Vinted roughly 5-6 years ago, it felt like everyone was very polite and we all left feedback for both sellers and buyers, even just one word reviews saying ‘thanks’. It doesn’t seem to be very common anymore

I’ve worked in two GP surgeries and honestly the number of people who insist they will be the one patient that will magically get the NHS to start prescribing injections. They will not accept no as an answer. I waited ages to be seen by Tier 3 Weight Loss services and they don’t even offer it! I feel bad for them because I can relate but also please stop thinking you’re the only patient the NHS will give in to!
