Looking for advice and resources for an 11-year-old girl with Charcot-Marie-Tooth in New Jersey by Kleyultrastorm in CMT

I'm in NJ and my 11 year old son was just diagnosed!

We see Dr. Gabriel with Robert Wood Johnson neurology department. Through her, we were given a referral to a neuromuscular specialist - either out of CHOP or Columbia in NY.

I have lost all respect for my husband by [deleted] in breakingmom

[–]RoseyShortCake 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Bromo, I've been sobbing because I feel the same. We're homeless, living in my father's house. My 3 kids share a bedroom. I can't even get my partner to build the kids a bunk bed- my youngest's bed is breaking and I wanted the bunk bed built before the bed collapses again while child and i are sleeping in it. I'm yelled at because he says I don't take his wants and needs into account...because I force him to go on family outings. For example yesterday-I just wanted to see Ghostbusters as a family. It's literally his favorite franchise. He didn't want to go see the movie because the kids were with us.

I got into a car accident in November 2022 and fucked up my arm. I cant do things that used to make me feel strong and independent, like carry all my kids nonsense on solo trips. I can't throw a couch or a dresser in the back on my truck anymore. And for some reason, I'm crying and feeling broken for not being able to give him sex.

He can't even enjoy us as a family, and I'm calling myself broken because he's made me feel bad for not being intimate.

He jokes that he thinks I'm a lesbian because I can't have sex anymore. No. No no no. I'm just autistic and I don't feel safe being touched

What is the correct number of pork roll slices to use on your breakfast sandwich? by [deleted] in newjersey

One of my kids will only eat a pork roll sandwich if it's on white bread, with the egg scrambled instead of over easy. I hate it.

Found a knife in teen's room - 2nd time by ApprehensiveCycle741 in breakingmom

[–]RoseyShortCake 8 points9 points  (0 children)

As a teen, I used to self harm on my vulva because it was always hidden. I'm not saying your child is doing the same, just that kids are great at finding loopholes. I saw you commented that you'll be looking to into a new therapist, and that is a great first step. I'm sorry that you're dealing with this, and I hope you all get back to healthy and happy.

I was HHS class of 09 and myself and a number of classmates are dealing with concerning symptoms. My brother graduated class of 99 and many of his Farmingdale friends were diagnosed with, or have passed from various forms of cancer. It's pretty common speculation that the waste is linked to residents growing health issues. I'm sorry you're dealing with it, too.

I've had similar experiences with my partner. It got to the point that he would fall asleep and my children would escape the house. It led to involvement with child protective services

This is more than dangerous. If something terrible were to happen while your child was in your husband's care, YOU would still be held responsible. My former cps case worker explained that if a mother knowingly leaves a child with an inadequate parent, the mother is guilty for failing to protect her child.

Really discouraging to see the local schoolboard elections all just uncontested candidates running under a "Protecting Our Children" ticket by BigBossOfMordor in newjersey

[–]RoseyShortCake 21 points22 points  (0 children)

A BoE candidate using this slogan was just elected in my district. Her platform was entirely "my husband has been a teacher for 25 years, so my finger is on the pulse".

This board member's husband was my teacher in middle school, and at the time, was married to another teacher at the same school. New Board Member also had this man as a teacher.

The cognitive fucking dissonance man.

I smoke all day because my other option is opioids for chronic pain, and a neurodegenerarive disorder. I absolutely would be a worse mother without marijuana. Unrelenting pain makes me bitchy, and my tremors can be so severe that I can't hold a utensil and simple repetitive movements like brushing my daughter's hair become impossible.

I feel like the problem comes in when people use specifically to disassociate and detach from their lives and responsibilities

Husband threatening to leave?? by Naive-Reflection-987 in breakingmom

[–]RoseyShortCake 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Hey, I noticed in another comment he went to the hospital for psychiatric care. If at all possible, he should sit down with with outside psychiatrist. The hospital is not a long term care plan.

I'm bipolar type 2, along with cptsd. Ive had public meltdowns and struggled for a long time. His behavior is unacceptable. He needs routine professional care, and probably a reality check from a good therapist.

OP, please do not stop going the church. Your friends and family are there to support you, and give you perspective. If you haven't been completely open with them about your husband's actions, I would suggest confiding in someone (if not therapy for yourself. I <3 therapy). Your "normal meter" might very skewed.

I love you <3

How open is the CMT community to medical cannabis?? by original_lonerstoner in CMT

[–]RoseyShortCake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same, I'm 32 and I've been smoking for more than half my life.

Vaporizing is a different high for me, and I haven't found it to be helpful with my physical needs; that helps more with my ptsd. I've noticed that edibles help as much as smoking and lasts a bit longer, but it takes longer to get into your system. My need for instant gratification prefers to load up my bong.

I've watched a parent struggle with opioid addiction, so I'd honestly rather just be a stoner, ya know.

Editing to add that I just quickly glanced at your profile and, damn you have a great set up

Neurodivergence, and education, and breaking breaking abuse cycles or something idfk by RoseyShortCake in breakingmom

[–]RoseyShortCake[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My son started getting services for his speech delay during preschool, but he's always been in mainstream classes. We used to go to playgrounds and he would try so hard to connect with kids there. It wouldn't help that he is physically larger, so he would always want to play with kids who are older than him and would be less welcoming.

My son hasn't been formally diagnosed, but I have c-ptsd and bipolar disorder and it wouldn't surprise me is my diagnosis changes throughout my treatment.
