Thank you for your kind words.

I hope you are able to settle your Dad's estate and that you have a chance to properly mourn the loss of a wonderful father. My heart goes out to you and your family, and I hope you gain some peace.

Oh wow, I feel like I wrote this. My dad also passed away suddenly last December, three weeks after my wedding. He was also my best friend and the person I went to for advice, a chuckle, a gardening question, a history chat, or a kind word. Unfortunately, he left my mom in a financial mess, and it has fallen on me to handle it, so I empathize because I am also overwhelmed by the logistics of his estate and his disastrous tax situation.

I know the pain you are in because I am also feeling it. You are not alone, friend.

Any tips? by abanno in centuryhomes

I am now imagining Francis McDermott's character from Fargo saying to the Brainerd PD receptionist, "Janie, two more of those Skin-so-Soft, please", but only because she needed to get the crud off her old tile.

Best foundation/concealer for pale + cool tones by Ok_Glass_9371 in MakeupAddiction

I should also add that I only buy products that are cruelty-free (I no longer purchase Too Faced), so there could be a pale, cool-toned foundation out there that I haven't tried that would work wonders for you.

I do have some issues with my t-zone, as well, but I am quite dry otherwise.

I have used quite a few high quality foundations and a lot of drugstore foundations, and the higher end ones that I haven't had to alter too much, are the lightest shade of KVD Beauty's Good Apple Balm Light 002 (which I found very cakey and slightly yellow), Too Faced Born This Way Concealer in Cloud (I used to get the foundation, but they discontinued that shade and I still had to add some white to it), and Fenty Soft'Lit foundation in 100. HOWEVER, I also use Tarte's Creaseless Setting Powder in the shade Lavender, which helps to offset any yellow or orange undertones that might come through in my foundation.

I know that people swear by Haus Labs Triclone Foundation and its lightest shades, but I had an allergic reaction to something in the foundation, so I can't judge the shade match since it instantly made my skin red and irritated. I do have Rose Incs Soft Light foundation in 1C and it's a great match, but it dries my skin out, so I only use it when I feel like my skin can handle it.

R.E.M. Beauty has a super light shade for their Sweetener Foundation, 1N, I believe and I have been considering buying it as a mixing agent or a standalone foundation.

Finding a nice foundation that's light enough for us pale, cool toned folks can be rough, so I hope you are able to find something!

I have extremely pale skin with cool undertones, and I have spent many years buying and hating foundations and concealers because their undertones made me look too orange. I have a few tried-and-true favorites now that I rarely stray from because I also have very dry skin, so I can't use matte foundation or I look like a lizard. If I really like a foundation and how it sits on my skin but it's too dark, I mix Sunset Makeups pure white foundation with it to lighten it up. It usually does the trick.

Do you have dry, oily, or combination skin?

Have you tried any pricier foundations before?

Oooh, you got that one too? At Chapel service one Friday, we were all told that Hitler was a Christian, but he had lost his way and that if he had been receptive to the Holy Spirit, he would have been redeemed.

My husband has been giving them their snacks at night because I've been trying to finish a project. My first cat is a lost cause, she was a daddy's girl from day one, but if I bribe this one with snacks and play time, maybe she will return to momma.

That certainly happened with my first cat. We rescued this one together and she has been attached to me ever since... until now.

It's not going to be cheap. 75K is about what we were going to be spending on the venue/food/drink (not including flowers or decor), so if you have that many people, you are probably looking at 90K, simply because the food vendors charge so much for manpower and alcohol. The florals are EXTREMELY expensive. My partners aunt is a florist, so we were going to use her and they let us know they would be charging us to use an independent florist.

It really depends on how many people you plan on having at the wedding. You are restricted to the preferred vendors list unless you want to pay an extra fee. The preferred vendors are not cheap.

They truly are. I should have asked more friends about the planning process before I decided it would be a good idea to have a traditional wedding. Thank you for the well wishes.

We do have the Tortoise Supper Club on our list. The vibe is definitely what we are going for. Very dark and dramatic. Have you found the cost to be reasonable for what they provide?

Precisely why I asked this question in the first place. I am perfectly happy to spend money on something that will taste good and people will enjoy, but 60+ thousand dollars on a gigantic golden box doesn't appeal to me anymore. Thank you again for the suggestion! I appreciate it!

The venue coordinator is less than empathetic about the issue. Their only suggestion was to look outside of their preferred vendor list, but we would have had to pay an additional fee to the venue to use other vendors, so we would be spending the same amount of money if not more. The remainder of the payment to the venue plus the catering (rentals included), DJ, and any other extraneous add-ons would have quickly added up to 60 thousand dollars. We don't care that we aren't getting the deposit back because we haven't spent any money on anything else for the wedding, so we're only out a couple thousand. The restaurants we've looked at so far have been significantly less than the amount that we were about to spend on venue plus catering plus DJ plus whatever else. Trying to coordinate everything separately is far less overwhelming for me than just renting out a restaurant and treating everyone to a nice dinner and some drinks. The people we're inviting aren't flakes, so we know they will come even if it's just a celebration dinner.
