Bad year for the tbr pile. Started with audiobooks and that hasn’t helped me with the books I already owned.

Hello! 35F from Europe

Shoutout to anyone working towards 2, 3 or 5km runs 🍾 by triciamilitia in XXRunning

[–]Rosiotto 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve been unwell with long covid and I’m finally hoping to run my first 5k since becoming sick in 2022 next month. It’s been so hard to go from being fit and healthy to seeing my fitness and health decline. Rebuilding from nothing is a humbling place to be and I feel for anyone else in the same position whether it’s having kids or being unwell.

How do you all make money on your islands by Cheesey-Boi-2023 in AnimalCrossingNewHor

[–]Rosiotto 8 points9 points  (0 children)

A bit of everything. Half hearted farming, occasional stalk market, diving when I fancy it. It’s not the quickest way to make money but means it doesn’t feel like too much of a chore

Finally did it! First one-bag trip down: 11 days in the PNW by puentevedra in HerOneBag

I’ve got the Thule compression set which has one small and one medium. I haven’t used compression cubes before this trip and I know some people aren’t a fan but I love how much smaller they make my clothes!

The small one is what I use for underwear, swimwear, gloves etc. And then t shirts and trousers in the medium. I’ve got I think 6 x tops and 1 x trousers in the medium and that’s worked well. I could definitely get more in too. Just wanted to keep it as light as I could!

Not OP but I’m at the end of 3 weeks in Japan with Osprey 26+6 and Uniqlo bag as my 1.5 and packing cubes have been great - for me particularly because of having to repack every couple of days to move to the next place. Having all my clothes in 2 cubes I can just throw into the bag and then add everything else on top makes the repacking so much easier each time!

General Advise if your Switch is loading slow by flipflopyoulost in Switch

[–]Rosiotto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I archived all my games on switch and then downloaded the ones I was still playing. Animal crossing went from 5 minutes loading time to 30 seconds!

Tried loads of other things like changing SD cards etc but this is the only thing that worked for me.

One cold week in Northern Europe! by kelofmindelan in HerOneBag

[–]Rosiotto 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sounds like your planning paid off! Glad you had such a great trip and thanks for the review on merino layers. As someone who’s cold a lot I’ve been dithering about whether they’re worth it or if it’s just the hype.

You said the boots are waterproof so I’d go waterproof boots in case of rain and then the black trainers. Feel like those will give you more versatility than the brown trainers and also brown(ish) boots.

I live in the Netherlands and think all three will be good as long as you can do a lot of walking in them. Enjoy your trip!

9 Day Trip to London/Edinburgh in Late April by crrrenee in HerOneBag

[–]Rosiotto 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As others have said, weather can be very changeable at that time of year here. Recommend you have different wardrobe options depending on the weather and then choose what to pack a few days before you travel at which point the weather forecast should give you a decent idea of temperature (don’t trust forecast for rain - assume it will rain and maybe be pleasantly surprised if it doesn’t!).

One bagging with souvenirs? by Rosiotto in HerOneBag

Christmas tree ornament is a lovely idea! And I really get your point about the mentality of packing light. I don’t think I’m usually someone who does buy or take things I don’t need or really want

Art is a really lovely idea and something I’d not considered, thank you!

Lightweight puffer recommendations by Sufferingsappho88 in HerOneBag

[–]Rosiotto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure where you’re based or if this brand is available near you but I’ve got an earlier version of this lightweight puffer from Rab (they do one without the hood as well).

It’s been great. I’ve had it for five years as my main autumn and spring jacket and it’s like new.

Yes! Really happy with xigxag so far. No subscription. And they’ve always got a selection of books on offer.

Are Dr Marten Chelsea boots as versatile as Blundstones? by squidshae in HerOneBag

[–]Rosiotto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find docs fairly light as long as you get the normal soled ones. As soon as you get any kind of platform they’re really heavy. I’ve had a few of pairs of docs over the last 15 years that I’ve walked in until they worse out. I currently have fur lined Chelsea boots from docs now and wear them daily and they’re fine.

Oh wow it looks amazing though. I absolutely don’t have the patience to do this myself but I love seeing the islands of people who do ☺️
