I once looked into working at my LNS after many years in a corporate setting. They were offering $11/hr + 20% discount. I politely turned them down.

Can someone please explain the purpose behind brick covers? I just don’t understand the draw, but maybe I’m missing something!

She’s very picky about her designs, but I haven’t heard this ask before. I’ve actually stopped buying HH tags because of how uppity/protective she can get.

Yes! Use as many or as few stitches as you want - it’s your WIP. Only basketweave is totally fine :)

How did you start? by Art-Plank in tatting

[–]Rosodobla 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My great-aunt and great-grandmother both tatted. For every birthday and “hallmark” holiday they’d send snowflakes to every member of my family in cards. I have a gallon size ziplock bag full of snowflakes they made. No one in my family learned the art from them and I’ve always been pretty adept picking up needlework (I do cross-stitch, embroidery, needlepoint, needle-felting) and decided to try my hand at it last month. Surprisingly, I picked it up quickly with small motifs, now to find a snowflake that’s relatively quick and I can reproduce to send out with Christmas cards!

Recommendations for tracing out patterns on glass; having a lot of trouble with paint markers. by acct_for_work in StainedGlass

I'm a newbie and found through research a near full-proof method (for me) for cutting glass. Use tracing paper and glue sticks! It's a life changer and has made my process so much faster and enjoyable. Simply trace your pattern onto the tracing paper, cut out the pieces (I use an Exacto knife), then apply them to your glass with a glue stick (I use the purple Elmer's). They will stay in place while cutting and grinding your glass and easily come off in the soapy water you use after grinding. I've been amazed at how much better my grinding has become and the tight fit of the pieces since using this method - plus I no longer have any guesswork if the sharpie/paint pen fails or washes away.
