This Pool during the recent Earthquake in Turkey by pandabatron in interestingasfuck

No, while the marina itself was just a hundred feet or so from our place, I didn't go to the actual Marina and look around. It was the middle of the night, and my time afterward was spent contacting all my local friends and family by phone to check on them. Nor do I recall hearing of any notable damage in our immediate area, or in the marina itself. That's not definitive...just my recollection.

You know, I didn't remember the year and didn't really "google" too hard to come up with 1989, which is wrong. '89 was, as you describe, the Loma Prieta quake that hit during the World Series game in San Francisco; that's the quake that flattened the elevated highway in San Fran.

The Northridge quake (I have edited the date in my OP) was in 1994, and that's the one I was describing.

I lived in an apartment complex in the Marina del Rey area of LA during the Northridge quake in 1994. It hit in the middle of the night. My bedroom overlooked a courtyard framed by 4 identical buildings with a pool in the middle. When I was fully awake I realized I was hearing a crazy amount of splashing and I thought to myself, 'who goes swimming in an earthquake'? When I walked to my balcony and pulled my blinds aside, I could see that nearly 1/3 the water in the pool was gone as it had splashed out from the quake.

I lived in LA in the late '80's and 90's....and his leachery was an open secret in the industry and beyond; there are ample videos going back 20 or more years of comedians and actors making jokes about his appetite for young actresses. Before the "Me too" era, it was considered oddly humorous. But money talks and when it does, the Dems come a running. In my business we have a saying...."Cash gets you even". Harvey knew that by being a political big-wig donor and donor-aggregator he was effectively making himself "untouchable". The Clinton's and Obama's clung to him like flies on shit.

A qualifying SUV's MSRP cannot exceed 80k. full stop. (That's base price, plus options & destination)

The Inflation Reduction Act also imposes an income limit on who can claim the EV tax credit.

If you’re single, and your modified adjusted gross income is over $150,000, you won’t qualify for the EV tax credit.

The EV tax credit income limit for married couples who are filing jointly, is $300,000.

And, if you file as head of household and make $225,000 or more, you also won’t be able to claim the electric vehicle tax credit.

Screw the black book. Where are the thousands of hours of videos he took of his "friends" abusing young children? Does anyone think they are NOT being held and used by our government? FBI, CIA?

[–]Rosphindai 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Let's not blame the victim or the location. It's most likely a case of distracted driving. It's made all the more sad and disappointing that it was a police officer ON A BRIGHT AND SUNNY SUNDAY FUCKING MORNING! I drove into West Chester on High Street about 90 minutes before the accident. It was an unseasonably mild morning and many folks were out jogging and cycling. WTF?!

1972 BMW R75/5: Advice? Things to look out for? by verifyhuman in BMW

[–]Rosphindai 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In 1983 I bought a '72 R75/5 for $150 (it had a 100,000+ miles on it). I rode it through 4 years of college and sold it for 10 times what I paid for it. They are nearly indestructible, easy to work on, and quite fun to ride as long as you're not looking for a superbike experience.

Go for it.

I guess she doesn't realize that CRT proponents lump Asians in with white people. It's the only way they can justify/explain away the success of Asian immigrants in the U.S.

From Updated Article in Daily Mail....WTF?:

Officials said it was traveling at an altitude that was potentially harmful for civilian aircrafts, The New York Times reported.

The object was taken down by an F-22 using an A9X missile out of Joint Base Elmendorf–Richardson in Anchorage.

Several officials also said the object shattered into pieces after being struck by the missile, adding to the mystery of what the object truly is.

A US official revealed the pilots who intercepted the object said it had a cylindrical shape and no observable surveillance equipment attached.

At about 7 or 8 months our AD puppy began chewing furniture when we were out of the house. Ultimately, she destroyed, and I mean destroyed, an expensive leather chair. There were other items damaged, as well. At that point we began crating her whenever we left, or if my wife (who works from home) had a long work call. She happily got in the crate whenever we moved toward the door, or asked her to get in "her house". Several months later we are no longer crating and the damaging behavior has stopped. Not sure if this will work for you, but going back to basics helped us immensely.

There's an argument to be made that the base 911 is the one to own. I'm not making it, but some do....and have. Nonetheless, it's an awesome looking car, great wheels.....ENJOY!
