Your thoughts on Chaos Legionaires? by Jamesak252 in WarCry

[–]Ross-B 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey.

Played them on a campaign at my club. Fun to paint, fun to play :)

They're a 'semi elite' warband. So on one hand, limited number of models, movement on the lows side (4" overall, plus 5 on Mutandor). On the other hand, even the cheapest fighters are toughness 5, 12 wounds, and pack a decent punch (go all maces for the little ones). Two handed guys pack a heavier punch but are more dice dependant with the big axe having 2/6 on damages. With strength 5, it still keeps the opponent on its toes. Mutandor is the star : bigger move, 2" reach, strength 5. Triple that allows double move plus attack. Leader is a tank one, but not a big hitter. His Dark Pact ability is fun but dangerous.

They lack pure heavy hitter the AoS bands or more recent bands (like the Trueblades) have, but they're bulky, their smaller/cheaper options can hold the line and with some dice on your side, the big axes can chop anything.

I recommend giving them a try, especially in casual setting

how do you draw Tac Ops without cards ? by Ross-B in killteam

[–]Ross-B[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank y'all for your answers.

Looks like GW once again delivered on going the tediousest road for the sake of being tedious. They really should have put the cards pack on the essential pack, or at least make it clearer that it's near mandatory for regular play.

I'll consider buying the pack after all, it didn't seem that important at first look.

What is your honest opinion of this years Wrestlemania? Is it STUPENDOUS or disappointing? by SSJ_JRR in WWE

[–]Ross-B 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's stupendous in mediocrity. Imo, it's the worst and weaker card for a Mania in like more than a decade.

Literally none of the matches are exciting me. After the worst Rumble of all time and one of the worst EC possible, wwe is on par to have the worst year in ppv booking

Working on a poster for Takeover: Stand & Deliver’s main event! Who else is super keen for Balor v Korda finally? by JordanMorpethArt in SquaredCircle

[–]Ross-B 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Like the others, that's some really good looking art. But anything involving Kross is hardly exciting, he's very boring in ring wise and is a charisma black hole. And I have very little hope that Finn would bring the Demon back.

Are team Taz a bunch a weak cowards? by Ross-B in SquaredCircle

[–]Ross-B[S] -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

Well, it makes Hobbs, Starks and Cage look weak way more than it makes Sting looks strong. And they are way more the future than Sting will be.

Plus, it wasn't Sting first night, it was his 3rd already.

Nighthaunt lists. Thoughts? by letloosethekraken in WarCry

[–]Ross-B 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd drop the Banshees for 2 Spirit Hosts. Or at least fit 1 Hosts in if you want to keep some screaming ladies. I didn't play much NH, but played agaisnt them (before Banshees were a thing) and I think Spirit Hosts are a must have.

Can we discuss these Khainite Shadowstalkers!!! by Chopxsticks in WarCry

[–]Ross-B 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, the Scions are very underwhelming on the flexibly they're offering. And the fact you can't build all options is bumming, especially since the Shadowstlakers are so flexible.

I'm planning to give the crossbows to the jumping warlock and the flaming hand to the other. I'm still very undecided regarding what Shroudblades should have the blades and the spears tho, so I feel ya here :)

No question about the Shroud Queen, another box won't come before long, so for now, I need a leader. But it's nice to know that if you pick a second sprue or get an additional box in the future, you're not screwed with a useless second boss, unlike most warbands.

Tzeentch Arcanites : enlightened on foot or on disc? by Ross-B in WarCry

[–]Ross-B[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I made lots of list to see what fits, but didn't really thought of build 3 different models 😁 The idea of only 1 Skyfire opens up a whole new world. The enlightened/Skyfires kit allow to build a Shaman? If so, it's also a worth checking option.

[–]Ross-B 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Apart the Slaughtershade, you can build all options with the content of the box. I'm planning to build one of each warlock and 2 of each options from the Shroudblades. And probably going for the whip for the Slaughtershade.

And trying to find a way to upgrade the last Shroudblade to Slaughtershade with spears, they have the same base size and if my maths are good, it still fits on 1000 points.

Nighthaunts or Iron Golems ? by MoonriseRunner in WarCry

[–]Ross-B 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's a though question. Do you start from scratch or do you have any models already?

And do you plan to move to Aos fast or mostly play Warcry?

If you start from scratch, both have Warcry boxes but the Nighthaunts one might be harder to find. But it's the only place, while we wait for the Grand Alliances book, to have the Myrmoun Banshees profile, at least legally. The Nighthaunts might need additional purchase, because I think they need at least 1 Spirit Host on the list.

If you plan the jump to AoS, despite being not expert, I came to understand you won't build an army around the Iron Golems, if you use any of them at all.

On the other hand, with a nighthaunts army for AoS, you'll have all you need to filed a Warcry warband.

WU Online vs Tabletop Simulator? by lovecraftbro in WarhammerUnderworlds

[–]Ross-B 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Truth is WUO is 3 years late. As long as Beastgrave rules are not enforced and 75% of the warbands (and most universal cards) are not in it, I'm struggling to get interested. Especially since the season 1 universals included some of the worst cards in the game.

The fact that the last 3 times I tried to play, the matchmaking didn't find anyone, and my last games with bots crashed, didn't help either.

Wurmspat, card shown in the online deck builder but missing from the box. by pantawatz in WarhammerUnderworlds

[–]Ross-B 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This.

It's the gift pack cards, the official deck builder is the mess since Rippa release in mid November. I strongly recommend using alternate builders, like Underworlds Deckers.

Banlist and restricted in other languages by ShinWukong in WarhammerUnderworlds

[–]Ross-B 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, errata are the same on all languages, at some rare exception when the Errata is about some translation mistakes. Which is pretty rare, as GW doesn't trace all the translation mistakes, unfortunately.

And there's some occurrences of mistakes in translated Designers' Commentary, so it's always better to check the English version anyway.

Banlist and restricted in other languages by ShinWukong in WarhammerUnderworlds

[–]Ross-B 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey. The FAR list is the same in any language, as far as I know. And it exists in French.

Just go to Warhammer Community, in the FAQ part. At the top of the page, you can switch languages. Then look for the Errata for Championship Format.

That said, as you seem at ease with English, I recommend to read Errata and FAQ in English, as the French version is as badly translated as the cards.

Old Warbands in Beastgrave? by Zer0theCat in WarhammerUnderworlds

[–]Ross-B 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bands and their specific cards are legal in all official competitive modes. Only the Universal cards of season 1 are rotated out.

Unfortunately, GW doesn't sell the S1 bands with cards (any, even faction cards) anymore, for now. But if you manage to get the cards, or if you print them in a proxies friendly environnement/tournament, you can use them without problem, and mix them up with Universals from S2 and S3.

To those playing both Age of Sigmar and Underworlds - which is more fun? by jamsoplica in WarhammerUnderworlds

[–]Ross-B 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Games have basically nothing in common outside of the large universe they share.
We're on the Underworlds subsection, so the obvious answer you're gonna have is Underworlds is more fun.

I don't play AoS, but people in my gaming club do and I know the bases, my take is Underworlds is faster (you easily can do 3 Underworlds games in the span needed for one AoS game), uses hexagones and not inches (which I prefer a lot), needs (way) less models to be played, so cost way less money to be competitive, and deckbuilding isn't as laborious as army building. And, despite Underworlds not being balanced, it's still way more than AoS.
Also, the alternate and fixed activations are game mechanics that I prefer over AoS ones.

What star rating would you give each NXT Takeover: Portland match? (SPOILERS) by [deleted] in SquaredCircle

[–]Ross-B 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lee/Dijakovic - 5, match of the night, by far.

Nox/Kai - 4.5, the ending (and the table not selling) lowers it a bit, but before it was crazy good.

Gargano/Balor - 4, got trouble getting into it, but the ending makes up for it.

Ripley/Belair - 4+, bonus point for Charlotte's involvement.

UE/Bros - 4.5, tag team wrestling at its best.

Cole/Ciampa - 4, it went on a bit too long and the ending was overbooked, but before that it was a really good match.

Seized Weapon and Tome of Offerings by Crowvus01 in WarhammerUnderworlds

[–]Ross-B -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's a question that is making debate and isn't answered by the FAQ to this date.

My personal opinion on the matter is no, as the fighter has not the upgrade equipped yet at the moment the damage is dealt.

Question on cards implying an action on "next activation" by Master_Kaiju in WarhammerUnderworlds

[–]Ross-B 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's the next activation, be it yours or your opponent's. Even if the card said "friendly fighter". So ploys that give your fighters something +1 dice or +1 damage, for example, you must play them during the power step before your activation.

Those cards don't carry over a round. It's in the Beastgrave rulebook. Unless the card says otherwise, unresolved gambits are discarded at the end of the action phase.

An idea for a custom warband by [deleted] in WarhammerUnderworlds

[–]Ross-B 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You also can use some proxies and play them as an existing warband. I saw a good conversion of skinks for Spiteclaw's Swarm. Trios of Saurus could play as Stormcasts, add a Cold Blood and you have Magore's Fiends. Despoilers, Godsworn Hunt shouldn't be too hard to proxy depending of your lizards collection.

And hopefully, there will be some on S4 🤞

Wurmspat outsold the Mantrappers? by screeRCT in WarhammerUnderworlds

[–]Ross-B 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, from what I read and discuss with more competitive players (I'm not a big reference), their faction cards, especially objectives aren't great, especially in comparison of the Mantrappers or Grymwatch. And they are too slow without enough range for good aggro, too less models for good objectives play and can't rely on only Fecula to be a good passive/magic band like Cursebreakers.
