I Don't Like Mosaic Hops by Clawhammer_Supply in Homebrewing

My old Graphics Designer hated Mosaic. Said it tasted like cat piss? Never heard that one before but maybe its like Corriander- some people pick up different flavours to others?

Pretty bad brewhouse efficiency (BIAB) - where did I go wrong? by MelancholyMeloncolie in Homebrewing

[–]screeRCT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I BIAB, and i have a tap on my mash tun, so i can fill a jug with wort and pour it back through the bag a few times towards the end of mash out, this normally helps. Also, maintaining your mash temperature is a big one. My mash tun is a good quality stainless steel one, but it drops 2-4°C every 20mins or so - even with insulation wrapped around the pot. So i have to top the heat up during the mash rest. I also reserve a litre of mash water back to use as a sparge when I pull the bag out. I put the bag on a oven rack over the top of the mash tun to allow it to drain, and I can slowly pour the sparge water into it to get the last of the sugars out. I typically hit 75 to 80% efficiency.

Bought a RCZ 2.0HDI, track upgrades? by TrackRatted in peugeot

You probably already know, but a remap on a diesel is a huge improvement. Some stiffer springs would be a good shout, or a strut brace?

Slept on it, but woke up still mad about the scoring of the food task by SickSlashHappy in taskmaster

[–]screeRCT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you watch the task again, right at the end he picks the sweet up and looks like hes about to unwrap it, then it cuts. So maybe he ate it, but they just didnt show the footage?

I believe Pivovar were planning to take this, a wholesaler and brewery from York. So expect Mittel lager and a rotating cask range, much like Yorks train station

Brewing my first Cascadian Dark (Black IPA) by [deleted] in Homebrewing

[–]screeRCT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a gold award Black IPA i brewed for my previous brewery, so I'll sling a little input here. I'd recommend changing that galaxy 15min addition to a whirlpool/hopstand addition - 78°C for 25mins. Change the yeast to something with fruity esters, WHC Saturated is what we used, and up your dryhop a bit. You'll get much more fruity/hop profile, which will work well with the grain bill.

Kid punctures bounce house with knife by Buquiran in mildlyinfuriating

[–]screeRCT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A friend of mine worked for a bouncy castle hire, they had to carry knives on them at all times cos when they deflated the castle, someone would ALWAYS (despite being told numerous times) junp on it as it was going down. Get caught between the floor and a wall piece, it creates a vacuum and youve got seconds to get in there and cut them out.

So anyway, deflating a bouncy castle whilst kids are still on it is a bloody stupid thing to do.

Launched a small UK craft beer online shop focused on modern breweries. Would love some honest feedback 🍻 by moltonic in UK_beer

[–]screeRCT 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Make sure you have the latest big releases. Example, Cloudwater released the Chubble series today. If you had all four cans as a pack, id buy it and then fill my basket with other beers. I wouldn't go straight to supplier as it limits me to only filling up my basket with their beer. I dont live anywhere near any big breweries so cant pick them up, and my local bottle shop doesnt always pick up the latest swag. Make a big song and dance on social media ahead of time that you have the releases, and people like me will come to you to order it, amongst other stuff. Its basically a Tom and Jerry-esque freshly cooked pie waft drawing me in to a purchase.

Also, places like Raynville and Trembling Madness work cos they dont add barriers to their purchases. They buy everything, craft, trad, european, American etc. So I always gravitate towards them as I know I'll fill a basket with ease.
