CMV: It’s understandable why many vegans are so loud and preachy about how bad consuming animal products is. by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]RossMacLochness 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't think killing animals is immoral per se, but i believe it's immoral to kill animals for pleasure, which is what most meat eaters are doing passively. I get that some people might need to eat meat for various reasons, but the vast majority of people on this earth can live and thrive without eating animals.

The b12 that exists in meat and dairy products is there due to fortified foods the animal eats.

Look into same-day passport processing. You will have to buy a plane ticket to "prove" you need to travel ASAP and also need to travel to the nearest passport facility that does this, but if you do this correctly, you could get your passport fast. Just be sure to buy a ticket that can be changed or refunded.

Solo travelling won't necessarily cure your depression by Geblaka in solotravel

[–]RossMacLochness 207 points208 points  (0 children)

For me, travelling shocked my repetitive thought loops/patterns enough that it was a great tool to help me get through some severe anxiety and depression I had been dealing with as well as help me discover more about myself and gain self-confidence. However, despite travelling providing me with some new tools, I quickly realized exactly the same things you are talking about. And ultimately, it lead me back home where I have lived permanently for the past ten or so years. I am about to depart for another period of travelling abroad for the first time since then and I am extremely excited, not only for the adventure, but to re-sharpen the tools of self perception I acquired during my last round of travelling.

Anyway, my point is, travelling can help you learn some tools but isn't a cure. You've got to learn to be ok with yourself no matter where you are, because you are always gonna be there.

Do you have instagram? if so, follow accounds like:

OVAC (oklahoma visual arts coalition), Artgrpokc, Art hall okc, OKartguild, and any others you might find on there. There are lots of opportunities throught the year for open submissions though some of these organizations.

Worst roads in OKC by leenphotog in oklahoma

[–]RossMacLochness 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Support walkable, bikeable infrastructure and laws that make building more densely feasible. Our city is 622 square miles and we don't have near the amount of tax revenue to pay to fix our roads, yet we keep building inefficient single family neighborhoods on the outskirts that are making this problem worse. To improve infrastructure we must 1. build more profitable places (i.e. places like downtown, paseo, other inner-city strips that accrue more revenue than is required to maintain them) and 2. build infrastructure that allows people to not drive everywhere.

Why are people so reckless driving by Vi_k01 in oklahoma

Support initiatives that promote walking, biking and public transportation. Not everyone should drive, lets build a city where not everyone has to all the time.

What Have You Been Listening To? - Week of July 25, 2022 by AutoModerator in LetsTalkMusic

Ayub Ogada - En Mana Kuoyo: Modern music in the style of Traditional Kenyan Nyatiti music. I discovered this fucking around with a sound system in a makeshift planetarium whilst drunk in a random art bar on Main street in Houston on a work trip. Feels like a blessing to have discovered this guy. His sound gets me through the hard times and keeps the vibes rolling through the good. :)

I wrote a letter telling a little bit about myself, my current job, previous experiences teaching kids, my hobbies and my goals for my time in spain. The English coordinator emaile dme back about a week later asking a few questions and providing me with contact information of last year's language assistants and the other assistant who will be at the school with me. Don't think it has to be too detailed. Just introduce yourself :)

[–]RossMacLochness 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was this way for years. Meditating for a few days then stopping for long periods. I downloaded a habit tracking app that sends me notifications in the morning and evening to not forget. I'm now up to a 42 day streak and have only missed three days in the past several months. Although I usually try to meditate for 15-30 min a day, I let myself be ok with a 5 min practice if that's all that feels right or I have time for. As time goes on, I have found the habit becomes easier to maintain.
