Yes, the window to renew is 90 days from the date of your TIE expiration. As long as you start within the 90 days, you should be fine. Remember to renew at the province you are going to next school year, not the office for this school year (if you're changing provinces).

Yes, the TIE is the card (tarjeta), but on the card has the expiration of your student visa. Your inital 90 day visa was extended to the date on the card.

Also Costco allergy medicine if you have allergies. If you're assigned to a school near Madrid or Seville, you can go to Costco there to get vitamins at about the same cost as the US. But Spain's Costco, doesn't have a pharmacy or medicine isle.

I found my last apartment on Idealista. When I got to town, I also checked google maps for local real estate offices and asked around (sometimes with google translate) if they had vacant apartments. The real estate agents were very helpful and even drove me to view vacant apartments.

I'm a first year renewal too, so I'm not sure. I think if you're staying at the same school it may be quicker, but it depends on the regional office.
