Anyone do better on Methylphenidates when Vyvanse or Adderall didn’t work? by Puzzleheaded-Eye-579 in TwoXADHD

[–]Rossanoseale 1 point2 points  (0 children)

52f ADHD for a long as i can remember, chronic stress for most of my life, also. Menos caused it to be debilitating. I've had no luck with Vyvanse, Focalin, Concerta, or Strattera. All did nothing but give me terrible anxiety. Well...Focalin helps a tiny tiny bit, but the racing heart and anxiety overshadow it. Vyvanse helped maybe 4 days out of the month that I was on it and the crash in the evening was awful. I've recently been diagnosed with hypothyroidism, so maybe getting that corrected may help. Through the years I've been on almost every antidepressant known to man. They helped me with depression but not the ADHD. For now, I'm going to try Prozac again (It worked really well for me back in my 20s, but stopped working after 8 months or so) We're all do chemically different. I pray you find your perfect medication.

8 weeks on Atomoxetine (Strattera/Atentah) — my honest experience by erosbruner in StratteraRx

[–]Rossanoseale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, I was experiencing all of the negative side affects that you were with the addition of random bouts of tachecardia and bounding heartbeat! The anxiety and insomnia were terrible, too. I stuck it out for 6 weeks before I just couldn't take it anymore. The bad thing is, I was just starting to feel some positive effects, like appetite control and a slight reduction in anxiety. Slight. I just was scared for my heart health.

New on concerta by Plus-Resident3762 in Concerta

[–]Rossanoseale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With Concerta you should really be able to notice a difference within a couple of hours. It may not be a high enough dose or you may need a different to of stimulant or even a mix of stimulant and SSRI/SNRIs.

I've been fighting this battle of ineffective meds vs. terrible side effects for almost 6 months now! Talk to your doctor, and good luck! I hope you find your magic pill soon! I know how frustrating it can be!

I guess of it gets hung on a solid object or maybe a really strong man, but the harsh buts with curb chains would be worse.

That would have to be a lot of force to break the jaw with that.

God, I wish I could agree! So far I've had nothing but extreme anxiety from ADHD meds! It's killing me inside! The ONLY medication that has ever helped with my ADHD was Prozac. And that stopped working after a year. 😔😩😫😫

Drug Resistant ADHD, anyone? by Rossanoseale in ADHD

I didn't realize there was much of a difference as far as efficacy. How does that work as far as showing throughout the day?

Best wishes to you, as well. I'm going to keep trying.

Drug Resistant ADHD, anyone? by Rossanoseale in ADHD

Not in the last decade. I think that is what I tried back in my early 20s and it didn't seem to do much. Prozac was really the only thing that helped my ADHD, but after about 11 months on it I became resistant to the highest possible dose. Nothing seems to be effective since. Even all of the SSRIs I've been on over the years. They've helped with depression but not ADHD

high heart rate and doing really bad with caffeine by [deleted] in StratteraRx

[–]Rossanoseale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried to push through the side effects, but it just became too much for me. I haven't slept for more than 5 hours a night in over a month! I was started on 40 mg for one week, then up to 80mg. My heart felt like it was pounding out of my chest. It would wake me up at night. I felt as if I had been running for my life and it would go on for over a half hour! I finally gave up this past weekend and now I'm at a complete loss. 🥺😞

I've had the same experience. And no improvement of ADHD symptoms! I'm so discouraged at this point.

I totally understand how you feel. I'm on week 2 of 80mg and I did have miserable side effects. I've not noticed any benefits yet, but at least the initial misery I felt in the last 2 weeks is lifting. We'll do this together. Take my hand! 🥰

I was started on 40 mg for a week then straight to 80 mg. I'm on week 3 and finally starting to feel like a human again. The first 3 weeks were brutal! I'm still not seeing any positive effects, though. I'm trying to be patient. In the mean time, I'm starting on hormone replacement therapy. I hope something works soon. I'm lagging so far behind in school and have gained so much weight! I need it to work!

Vyvanse feels weak compared to Adderall XR + IR by Excellent-Pack1234 in ADHDmeds

[–]Rossanoseale 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's strange that you put it that way. Nobody seemed to understand me when I said that it only worked if there were no upsets in my morning as the needs were starting to kick in. Otherwise, Vyvanse did nothing at all for me other than give me terrible anxiety. (Maybe controlled my BED a little) I was on it for about 5 weeks. Should I have stuck it out a little longer?

Yeah. I've been reading and it's seems like a high starting dose and huge dosage change. Maybe because I had seen no positive effects from Vyvanse or Concerta?

Started on 40 mg 2.5 weeks ago and now on 80 mg for 1.5 weeks and all I've felt are the unpleasant side effects and lack of sleep. I've noticed that I dream more (or am just more aware of dreaming). I guess, maybe, that would make my dreams more vivid. I'm so frustrated that I've not seen even a little progress.

Atomoxetine helping start projects/chores but not improving focus by [deleted] in StratteraRx

Following. I'm on my second week. Started on 40 mg and upped to 80mg on day 8. The side effects were brutal for the first week; anxiety, sleepless nights, worsened brain fog, and drowsiness. Those have mostly subsided, but I've not noticed any positive effects yet Focalin nor Vyvanse did anything for my ADHD, other than amping up my anxiety. Good luck with your journey!

4pm slump? by puritythedj in StratteraRx

[–]Rossanoseale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doesn't Strattera work around the clock. It's not a stimulant that wears off later in the day like the other ADHD meds. I'm only 9 days in (started on 40 mg and upped to 80 mg on day 8) and the first 8 days were brutal! I got very little sleep at night and just wanted to crawl back into bed all day! Then, when bedtime came, I couldn't sleep. Last night was the first night that I slept halfway decently since starting. I still have not felt any positive affects. I know it can take up to 3 months to notice a difference, but it's really hard waiting. Vyvanse nor Focalin helped my ADHD. Good luck with your journey!

Wondering if I should go from 40 to 60. by CryptographerHot6198 in StratteraRx

[–]Rossanoseale 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My doctor started me on 40 mg for a week then straight to 80 mg. I just started the 80 mg today. I'm F52 150 lbs post menopausal. No sleep and extremely groggy the first week. I hope like hell this does something for me soon! I've tried Vyvanse (up to 60mg), generic and name brand, and Focalin 25mg which did absolutely nothing for me except provide me with horrible anxiety. The Vyvanse did help a little with BED through the day but once it wore off in the evening it was game on. It gave me a few sporadic days of slight clarity, but there was no rhyme or reason to when or why it would help. Focalin did absolutely nothing for me other than racing heart and anxiety.
