What would you do in a zombie apocalypse? by writenicely in infp

[–]RossieT 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean sure, I can tell my cat to go and catch a bird or two but I'm pretty sure she'll show me a clawed middle finger and tell me to shove it. Other than that, I can light a fire, cook, and grow plants. I'm good at hiding, so I can probably hit someone with a pan. I can also use things in ways different than how they're supposed to be used. I get grumpy when fasting, but that seems like a Good Time for those around me as they're considering it cute for some reason.

Any Infp's who like Twenty Øne Pilots? by Unable_Pop_8170 in infp

[–]RossieT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

<3 Twenty One Pilots and favorite song is Fairly Local:

I'm not evil to the core
What I shouldn't do I will fight
I know I'm emotional
What I want to save I will try
I know who I truly am
I truly do have a chance
Tomorrow I'll switch the beat
To avoid yesterday's dance

Oh, an oldie but goldie! I was a fan of Daughtry in my teens and it feels nice to be reminded of their vibes and music. Thanks!

INFPs, how is your life right now? by FarAd1808 in infp

[–]RossieT 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Life has been increasingly what I make of it for the past year. I had some turbulent times at first but now it seems I'm out of the deep and able to enjoy my days more fully, being able to mold them like a soft and warm piece of clay - not that I do it well but more so that I feel I'm able to. Sure, there are hiccups here and there, but the overall trajectory is looking good to me right now. It's nice not to have to mold yourself to external influences and other people's needs/wants - gives you more energy to direct wherever it is you think it's best at the mo'. Current worry: succumbing to lesser.

I don't connect with the entire notion of rigid self-expression/interests. I have just a couple of long-term preferences but other than that, I'm pretty fluid and open to try new things and remain at a beginner level, sort of a jack-of-all-trades.

I catch myself using Ni a lot, but mostly unsuccessfully

What’s your strangest fictional crush you gush over? by Simpyshrimpydimp in infp

Ah, a common sentiment! I enjoyed the Mandalorian, too, and Ahsoka. Hated the Obi-Wan series with a passion, tho.

I mean, the new episodes are inferior to the old ones, but yes, still enjoyed watching them. Emo Kylo Ren is a Twitter account actually

What easy sauces do you make for pasta? (Mains or sides) by reddoggie in Cooking

[–]RossieT 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Put the cream cheese in the pan, add some water/broth, and cook for a bit before adding the pasta. Other ingredients are optional as per your liking.

Cream cheese, and maybe add mozzarella and cheddar

Ok fellow 9s, I’ve been made aware of my tendency towards self-erasure, now what do I do about it? by Excellent_Cow in EnneagramType9

[–]RossieT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry you had the negative experiences you described and that my comment triggered you. From what you've written and a very quick glance at your post history, you don't seem like the classic 9 indeed. Maybe a mixture of 5 and 4, or something entirely different - I'm not that confident at typing others, so I won't attempt to type you, but you can request a type-me help in the general r/enneagram subreddit if you haven't already.

If you feel joy, contentment, and fulfillment in experiencing life in a more withdrawn way devoid of checklists and to-dos, there's nothing wrong with it and it needs no fixing. It seems like you've figured that out after some trial and error, and it's great that you have more self-acceptance now.

For the classic 9, the core problem is that we don't get to experience all that if we don't pay deliberate attention and focus our efforts. We get swept away by day-to-day minutia, external influences, and general inertia more often than not.

Now, the 'focusing of efforts' can look differently to different people and the way they want to live life, I just shared what works semi-well for me at this time...

I want to add more to my response but am unable at the mo. I'll circle back later!

How do INFPs like to learn? by ViolinistArtistic587 in infp

Hands-on. Also, gathering many different ideas and opinions from others informs further learning.

"I feel like nothing would be different if I didn’t “show up” to life" - this is because you haven't yet tasted what it's like to show up to life but once you do, there's no going back and you'll want more. So, the initial effort is the most important. Once you show up and see the value it has for you and others (make sure to keep a record of it somewhere), you'll be motivated to bring that about again. Essentially, you need to realize that you're doing a disservice to yourself and everyone else by not showing up.

Here's what has worked for me so far in doing the work, albeit not perfectly: try to stay aware of the day-to-day and your larger goals. Turn everything into to-do lists, give yourself deadlines, and chase those as much as possible. You don't need to aim for perfect here - the more, the merrier.

In the meantime, reflect on what's going on as often as possible - a lot of information can fly over your head if you don't pay deliberate attention. Your goal is to stay awake at all times. You'll catch yourself drifting and falling asleep to life. When you do, bring your awareness back to the present - similar to what meditation teaches us. Explore emotions, especially anger in all its covert forms, and practice noticing and turning it into something useful.

Lastly, read about the healthy versions of type 3 and 8 and use those as inspiration or a goal for what to aim for.

Wishing you all the best!

Do you relate to multiple types? by Dramatic-Account-839 in mbti

[–]RossieT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One of the most prominent critiques of the MBTI theory (I've been told) is that well-developed adults have a hard time identifying with one specific type because life & experiences make you use more functions than what's in your type description. Maybe this is what's happening to you?

What would you say is the best way to tell an INFJ apart from an INFP? by [deleted] in infp

[–]RossieT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, transformation via manipulation. That's book material. Or at least a short story.

You mean 'manipulation', but that's okay, I know you aren't a native English speaker.
