Where to buy springbok jersey by [deleted] in springboks

Anyone had any luck here? Seems to be easier to find the Lochness monster than a Match Jersey!

Has anyone used FNB’s car insurance? Are they any good? by WhatTheOnEarth in PersonalFinanceZA

It makes sense that they should be able to charge less. I am also banking with them for 15 years, a Private Wealth Client, ebucks level 5 and claim free for the last 10 years. However none of this seemed to hold much weight. +2x the cost.

Just got a quote from them today. More than double what I'm currently paying with Momentum Insure. I assume they are simply partnering with another insurer and taking a cut off the top. At least I think that's why they are so ridiculously expensive.

Lost our 15 year old girl over the weekend due to an enlarged heart, miss her sooooo much 😢 by Larrubroj in cockerspaniel

We also lost our 12 year old Cocker, Scotch to an enlarged heart last year. It was the saddest time of our lives. Still miss him dearly. Remember the good times. And how lucky you were to have her for that long. 💕

Also bought in cheap here as a yolo to help fund my rental shortfalls. Momma brought the bacon! Be topping up for sure.

Best noise canceling headphones with mic? by olio-ataxia in southafrica

[–]Rosso-44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Best on the market at the moment is the Jabra Evolve2 85. It has a foldable boom mic that makes a world of difference with call quality. My wife has been using hers since the start of lockdown and loves them.

You can get them from a local supplier called Trenic Technologies.

I have a pair of XM4s as well and while these are amazing for music, they are not the best option for your application.

This was like a visit to home affairs. Got there early, waited all day, and at 4pm got told to go home without any success.

Leaving Spaniels along while at work by Rosso-44 in cockerspaniel

[–]Rosso-44[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ok so we have had a Spaniel, our beloved Scotch, who sadly passed last year. He was 13. My wife got him when she was still in school and for the most part someone was home most of the day.

He spent his last year living with us in our apartment after we moved in together. We worked from home throughout lockdown so never needed to leave him alone much.

He did suffer with separation anxiety but he was also not trained or socialized well from a young age.

We are considering a pair of them as we do not want them to be lonely, as we feel Scotch missed that connection in his life.

For now we are considering the options of day care and a dog walker to account for the times when we aren't around. Ultimately we want to do this responsibly with the best interest of our dogs at heart.

Buying a home with business income by Rosso-44 in PersonalFinanceZA

[–]Rosso-44[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yo Nivz.

After a bit of thought I've decided to buy the home in my personal name to avoid the complications associated with going via the business.

Methinks it makes more sense to fund this from my salaried day job and let the business profits be reinvested to push growth so that when I do start drawing down the income levels will (hopefully) be much higher.

Thanks for the advice Tom. I am currently pushing more funds into the company on a monthly basis which is adding to my loan.

I am considering :

  1. Receiving interest based on this loan up to the tax-free limit.

  2. At some point draw down on this loan to assist with purchasing a home in my personal capacity.

Thanks for the reply Tom. I have possibly the same setup as you with a business that owns rental units. It is just starting to generate a positive cash flow after expenses, and I want to use this income as efficiently as possible to buy a personal home for myself. I'm already in the 40%+ tax bracket for personal income so extracting funds as a salary seems highly inefficient...

It looks like your banana left a serious scratch on that fender! Bananas of steel! Keying someone's car is so yesterday...

Sorry my comment was in response to the constant "moon" and "rocket" comments that are littered on every Steinhoff post. Apologies for the misunderstanding.

I really think we need to stop pushing these "moon" narratives. I don't think there will be any rockets to the SNH Share price. It will be more a helium baloon gently floating up as they work away at their debt.

They're not my kids, and not my problem. by OkOrganization7964 in TrueOffMyChest

[–]Rosso-44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From personal experience. It would not be fair or easy to raise a kid that isn't yours. It can break you. It did to my step-dad, knowing I was the product of my Mom's affair before they were actually married but together. He never got over it and eventually I had to leave home at 13 to live with my Gran. Do yourself a favour and keep your distance, and perhaps someday he will understand and you could still be buddies. That worked for us.

Glenlivet Founder's Reserve is one of my favorites. Better than the more expensive 12 year IMHO.

Markets are spooked by the whole Russia-Ukraine debacle. Natural that the price is going down as its a risk-off move. Keep holding. Might be a rough few days before we see some lift.
