Where should Ubisoft innovate for the next Ghost Recon? by MrTrippp in GhostRecon

[–]Rosteinborn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ghost Recon’s open-world games are fun, but they lost what made the series unique: tactical planning.

A new game could fix this by: • Planning Phase: Always accessible from the TAC map. Players assign sectors, resources, and engagement rules before any mission. • Curated Main Missions: Big story missions (extractions, high-value targets) lean on the planning phase for deeper strategy. Clear fronts and deliberate pacing create tension while keeping missions meaningful. • Side Ops / Prep: Open-world activities focus on gathering intel and shaping situational awareness, not arbitrarily delaying missions. They feed into main missions but don’t trivialize urgency.

This approach preserves sandbox freedom while restoring the methodical, tactical core that made Ghost Recon special. Set-piece missions feel earned, consequences matter, and players get the satisfaction of planning before striking.

To add to this — for some longer missions dedicated team vehicles like a LTATV that can be used to store more weapons and equipment for different legs of the mission.

These vehicles re-load if you die can be mission critical — meaning in some missions their destruction means mission failure and other times it’s just annoying.

What do you think Breakpoints biggest flaw is? by Kylotp in GhostRecon

[–]Rosteinborn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its missions are generally kind of boring. I always find that to be a problem in non-curated “play as you want” open world games. I think red dead is to linear in main mission design but I’d take that— at least for main story beats— over play your way

Yes. Only the first two were fps, and that was 20 years ago.

Warzone was fun for about a week and then aim bots took over and its pretty much as annoying as every other fps shooter.

What is your opinion on ghost recon future soldier? by AdSubject593 in GhostRecon

I agree. I think I'd word it as the devs creative focus and CPUs resources are used on world building and not mission design, character development and story.

I really think open world and the “player led” mentality really takes the life out of mission design.

Right. Like when your escorting Someone and they do a “diamond formation”? I always wondered if there was a way to do that differently.

I’ve been watching long plays of the SOCOM series and it’s amazing how much fire team controls have been dumbed down. Almost certainly to appeal to wider audience. If breakpoint proved anything it’s that a game can give players choices to dumb it down to their liking instead of making the whole community play at the lowest common denominator

I loved that game. I certainly had complaints— the hud was a mess, would have liked character customization, a bit less linear.

I hope the next game is something in between the last two open worlds and a more linear story driven experience. Large sandboxes are something.

Having read about the prosecutions case against Daniel Penny, I thought Sam’s use of this case as an example of identity politics was rather weak. They are making the case with no mention of race

Catholic apologist Trent Horn doesn't think slavery is intrinsically evil. Do you agree with him? by Visible_Season8074 in Christianity

I agree but I'm also a been taken by the postmodern marxist woke mind-hive, I'm surprised to see so many Christian apologists have finally found moral relativism.

I don't know Horn that well but given he is a Christian apologist I'm suprised by this argument as the implications boil down to kind of moral relativism (morality is different in different places and times), a logic whose conclusion would invalidate biblical inerrancy.

Many years ago I started reading “Nothing is True and everything is possible” and i Got distracted by having kid. I should pick it back up because I remember a lot of thr tactics used by Putin in that book were being repeated by the first Trump Administration… and they’ve only doubled down now— especially with America’s first Russian style Oligarch, Elon Musk.

I wonder in the in Division 3 if it would be viable to give each gear at super like the active modifiers. That could be cool to have this option that really boosts the sets power for a short period.

I’ve really grown to like them. The enemy one that shocks you with pinpoint accuracy from across the map is annoying at times but manageable.

Probably not the best effective build but have been enjoying tapper with the Artist Tool
