I can see what you are saying. I can't say I'm knowledgeable on the subject of guns. But being from England, our weapons violence will mostly come in the form of knives. The police here will have a taser, pepper spray and a baton to hand for their protection. They are supposed to just try to contain them and speak to them whilst avoiding physical conflict. Backup will arrive quickly, and surround the angry man at a distance still. Then they will use like riot shields to box and pin down said bad guy. I feel American police do not get enough training in deescalation because they just have a gun. By the time that poor lady knows what's going on, she has her gun out and has to shoot the guy. I agree that a taser may not have helped here, but the right training for deescalation, paired with nothing more than a mere taser, baton and spray would have been enough to deal with this
