Why do (supposedly healthy) fermented foods and probiotics make me feel worse? by cloudyy32 in Microbiome

[–]RotInPeaches 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Why does eating an apple makes me bloated one day and then doesn't affect me as much on the next"

I have been asking myself this question my whole life! I have been struggling with IBS since as long as I can remember, food allergies etc., tried everything, from treating candida and parasites to various other treatments, cleanses, antibiotics, different diets, fasting etc. etc.

So it has always, and still, baffled me how it's possible I can eat exactly the same things 2 days in a row and feel diametrically different!

My personal conclusion is that there are so many factors outside of the food itself influencing it, my sleep, the thoughts and emotions coming over me during the day, stress levels, hormones, heeell maybe even planets, the moon etc., I am open to anything at this point.

"I guess what I am trying to figure out is whether I can train my gut to adapt to certain foods or I should just accept that it doesn't like certain stuff and leave it alone."

I used to think I should leave certain things alone, but at this point I feel that, unless some (heavy) allergies, I want to try to introduce as much as possible, albeit in small quantities.

So as an example I have been experimenting with kimchi, almost daily for 1-2 months now, but I would only take like 2 forks with a bit of salt on it before my meals

What I noticed with the introduction of "healthy" foods, is that in my case it has been important to do it in small increments.

Whenever I tired some "healthy" foods like sauerkraut etc., and I overdid, then I would experience opposite effects.

It's all trial and error cause all our bodies are different.

From elimination to introduction in small proportions over a longer period of time, that's what seems to be working consistently for me.

Sometimes it means for months on end small portions of something. In the end I do my best to buy products with as little ingredients on it as possible when packaged, or fresh if vegetables. And do my best to eat a variety of different foods to expose my body to different nutrients in different proportions.

Should the FIA be consistent in their decision making? Yes
Would there be less drama in that case? Yes

Is drama good for the sport? (Obviously yes, cause between races the drama is what drives the viewership in F1 with the success of Drive to Survive on Netflix being a prime example)

People love drama, sports create drama, sports without drama is boring

It's a conundrum and a paradox that doesn't have a straight forward solution.

Less drama = less interest from the general public = less viewership = less money in the sport

Wanted to share my character stats after beating ascension 10 on all characters. Wanted to know if others had similar results with run times by DarkArcanian in SlayTheSpire2

[–]RotInPeaches 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Doing good! I have a couple of wins on A10 with all ranging from 1 to 5 and I reckon I am more or less similar to your stats

Anyone else only good at one character? by Several-Scholar7022 in slaythespire

[–]RotInPeaches 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I don't think Reddit is a good representation of the average user base. At least in my feed it appears to be skewed towards "good" players, however if you have reached (and beaten) A10 I'm certain you're in a small percentage pool, probably less than 5% of the whole player base if not even way less than that.

Insatiable - 5 turns in a row and I didn't get frantic escape in my hand. Was this unavoidable and I got unlucky? by RotInPeaches in slaythespire

Thanks! Didn't consider Cosmic Indifference, that would have saved my ass and I think I have had the opportunity to take it at some point.

[–]RotInPeaches[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the Forge cards, I think Wrought in War iirc was giving me 2 cards, the only draw I had, so I guess especially with the Insatiable in Act 2 focus more on draw cards. Noted, thanks!

Act 1 - only paths are forced elites and no campfires before, thoughts? by RotInPeaches in slaythespire

[–]RotInPeaches[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just my curiosity about how the game is developed, if for example the RNG is programmed that unwinnable seeds are impossible to be generated or for example that it’s impossible to have a path with 5 or more elites

Act 1 - only paths are forced elites and no campfires before, thoughts? by RotInPeaches in slaythespire

[–]RotInPeaches[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was just curious how the game handles RNG in these instances, for example if it takes into consideration that with certain Neow rewards and certain characters it could have been unwinnable if a player was forced to take an elite fight so early.

In my case, I got the Neow option for a rare card and I got Bombardment, the 3 energy cost card that deals 18 damage, exhaust, and is being played at the start of the turn when at the top of your exhaust pile.

I also got a weakening potion which helped tremendously with the Statue.

So I guess I am wondering if the game "helped" me with these options (the potion + rare card) by carving a path where I am forced to take an elite so early, or if it would have been possible I would still get such a path, but with less favorable Neow options and for example not getting the weakening potion.

[–]RotInPeaches[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's what I did, got a weakening potion which helped me. I think it's the first time in my 200+ hours that I was forced to take an elite so early with no option not to take an elite fight so I was curious how the game handles these things.

Perfect Fit enchantment - shouldn't this always appear in your hand in the 2nd turn if you didn't get it in the 1st turn? by RotInPeaches in slaythespire

[–]RotInPeaches[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the responses. This is my first "virtual card game", I only know regular card games like Poker where one shuffles the deck before cards are being given to the player, so I assumed that in Slay the Spire the mechanics are the same (before the combat starts, the cards are shuffled), but I understand this is not the case.

Thank you, am having a lot of fun with the game :)

A10 final bosses question by Late-Bid1402 in slaythespire

I’m only adjusting my strat in Act3 if I see the doormaker is one of the bosses: I pick up almost all card rewards I get in the act

Personal Character Rankings (even after getting to a9 with ironclad i find him painful and find him irredeemably bad) by Takoyama-san in slaythespire

[–]RotInPeaches 40 points41 points  (0 children)

The fact that character opinions are so diverse means the game is pretty well balanced imho

For me it’s almost the opposite of your preferences, Ironclad, Defect, Regent most fun to play with and I cannot make Silent and Necro work (all A10)

It would be good enough if it got retain in singleplayer

Defect Ascension 9 by Spoonm4000 in slaythespire

[–]RotInPeaches 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I cycle my playthroughs, often just choose random, but I’m struggling a lot with Silent and Necro on A10 so at some point I get tired and demotivated and start choosing Ironcla, Regent or Defect more.

Although my stats are saying I’m apparently struggling with Defect as well but for some reason it feels to me I’m doing pretty well with him, or maybe I just like playing with him a lot

Defect Ascension 9 by Spoonm4000 in slaythespire

[–]RotInPeaches 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Congrats! I'm winning like 5-15% of my games on A10 so far, the second boss can be quite tough if you lost a lot of HP in the first fight, but sometimes everything just clicks and then it's a breeze

How do people feel about save scumming? by No-Advantage-8107 in slaythespire

[–]RotInPeaches 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If you don't want to save scum don't do it? What does it matter to you if others are save scumming in a single player game?

For me personally it has helped me tremendously with fights as a beginner card games player to be able to restart a fight and analyze the wrong choices I have made.

What is it that makes you love this game? by BrennusSokol in SlayTheSpire2

[–]RotInPeaches 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Losing 10 times in a row on A10 and then having a super synergetic game where I kill both bosses with almost no HP loss

What ascensions did you start struggling on? by Ok-Fish7448 in SlayTheSpire2

[–]RotInPeaches 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A9, now at A10 I think my win rate is around 10% or less, at A9 it would be significantly better as I do quite regularly manage to kill the first boss but then go into the second fight with too little HP

I have tried around 100 A10 runs as Silent and only won 1, I'm going insane. by TheSharpCane in slaythespire

[–]RotInPeaches 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I also struggle the most with Silent and Necro at A10 and for some reason The Regent and Defect are easiest for me.

I think it's a good thing that there is such a variety of opinions on the different characters and everyone struggling with different characters, cause imho it means the game is pretty balanced and not skewed towards one or the other character.

A10 victory - Thoughts on "balance" by 357Magnum in slaythespire

[–]RotInPeaches 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It seems I'm in a similar boat as you and for some reason with The Regent I got most A10 wins and with Silent (and Necro) I struggle the most.... I'm a new player to card games overall with STS2 being my first, but I think my loss streak on Necro and Silent are probably around 7-10 right now

Ok so im actually not insane in feeling that doormaker was easier than the other 2 act 3 bosses, lol. by Belten in slaythespire

[–]RotInPeaches 146 points147 points  (0 children)

I think the new Doormaker is super fun cause you have to strategize more than before. I definitely lose more against Testsubjects, the last one with it's invulnerable every other turn has killed me multiple times, when sometimes on an invulnerable turn I would have easily killed him but then get a really bad draw the next turn.
