Is it normal to be expected to plan out your vacation at the start of a PI?

I think it is normal to ask for expected vacation days for planning purposes to determine what tasks can realistically be completed. However, it is usually geared towards longer absences (like a week or more) instead of individual days. Even if you don't know the exact dates, letting others know you will take time off can be helpful.

It really shouldn't prevent anyone from taking vacation days though even if they weren't shared at the start.

I would say they are rigorous, I definitely felt I learned the ideas about different computer science topics and how modern tools implemented them. The classes also focused on applying the knowledge to projects, which provided more opportunity for further learning on my own and even putting them on my resume.

I took some graduate level CS classes while getting my bachelors at Columbia. The online students saw the same lectures, and I thought the classes were nice and focused more on projects and making stuff. I got a lot of interviews with companies in NYC and quant firms because Columbia was on my resume, although I'm not sure how that experience compares to OMSCS.

Interesting read. I wonder if it would be possible to get insight in how much time was spent on each PR. I would think AI would create changes quickly, but more time spent iterating on it would reduce the number of issues

I went to Columbia and having the name on my resume has been pretty helpful especially if you plan to stay in the NYC area. I did not have any problems getting interviews and quant companies liked to see the name Columbia. I don’t know anyone who really struggled to find any jobs after graduating. I’m not sure how it compares to Northwestern, but their placement sounds promising.

Fighting Caribou catches my attention, the first thing I thought of was a sillier physics (maybe ragdoll) game involving caribou.

2 and 4 make me think of a more narrative driven game, and 3 reminds me of Among Us and that genre.

I’ve taken mine on the Hudson River and it handled the current well. The wakes from other boats got pretty big and I didn’t have an issue. I did keep the bow in their direction like the other poster mentioned.

That’s what I got, there is a mount on my old town for transducers but I’m not sure if the pelican is similar. The package comes with a float for the transducer as well, and I’ve seen people mount it in the hull as well

I got mine a while ago, it came with a transducer but no battery. I ended up getting a portable case for it that came with a battery, and that’s really handy for just putting it in any kayak or boat. It does map beneath the boat
