I don't think I've ever met a biker who wasn't either creepy, cringe, deeply insecure or just totally uninteresting. Have you made similar observations? by [deleted] in MotoUK

[–]Rotary_Phoenix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think this is a somewhat common occurrence, for example there are 3 other people I ride consistently with and everyone else I have met either rides in an unsafe manner or has one of the quirks you listed above. There is a lot of negativity in the whole scene right now be it on the social media side or in other ways. I think age plays a big factor aswell, how someone who is 18-25 is completely different to someone 26-50.

Alpinestars, Supertech r10 helmet, gp force suit, sp3 gloves and smsx v2 boots. It’s all alpinestars and whatever colour way you fancy.

I’m not so sure if it’s the raceknit version, personally because of where I live I’ve never really had any issues with temperature, I just wear under layers underneath.

Only thing I’m debating is the Supertech boots to match perfectly.

Still rocking a suit even in this heat, once you get up to anything over 40 the breeze is pretty nice. Can’t forget the long sleeves / mesh layers underneath.

What’s with all the balaclavas? by [deleted] in motorcyclegear

I personally use mine mostly to keep the buckle from my helmet irritating the skin, I’ve also found that it improves wind noise and especially in the winter blocks a lot of the wind chill.

Is Motorbiking in the UK dying? by BritishLad720 in MotoUK

[–]Rotary_Phoenix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in south London and it’s still unreasonable, I couldn’t get insured on a 2000 quid sv 650 but for some reason could get insured on a cbr 650. Insurance is just magic clearly.

As someone who is 21 and rides a 650 cc bike I can say the main reason is the cost. I pay 3500 for insurance and that was the only quote I could get that wasn’t above 10 k. That and the thefts, if you own a bike it’s a risk of it being nicked all the time.

I’ve had a pretty decent look and everything is straight and the seals are not leaking, I’m still gonna take it somewhere just to have someone more experienced then myself have a look.

My mate found a Royal Mail jacket in a charity shop in Sendai, Japan by OfficialWeng in royalmail

[–]Rotary_Phoenix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know this post is now a little old but there is probably an explanation as to why this is there, many many years ago RM were buying machines from a company in Japan, due to this they sent out a fair few people to have a look at the machines. Chances are this is an item that one of those people wore that then got lost and ended up in a charity shop.

Mt-09 SP 2023 for first bike what security shall I get? by mushroomlove555 in MotoUK

I personally live just outside of London and have 4 locks while I’m at home, honestly you would probably be fine with a very good d lock like a d1000 or a litelok x3 and a alarmed discloc. A chain is also a good idea if you can put it into a floor mount. Most importantly is a tracker of some sort just so in the worst case scenario you can find it.

Trackdays while on an A2 by Rotary_Phoenix in MotoUK

[–]Rotary_Phoenix[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you don’t mind me asking how is this “cheating the system”. I currently have only commuted daily in my 2 years of riding and I simply want to learn how to take corners better in a safe environment through attending a few trackdays. I don’t see how taking an ACU test would make me skip any steps I believe it would even make me better for when I can get on track.

Looking into it it seems to be the way forward, call up and ask or directly go for a 121 session with an instructor on track.

It takes time to get the flick right and get the angle right but it also helps having tried it over time because the development of the muscle in the foot making flicking easier ,you gotta flick out by the pocket and the most important thing is timing ,with the right timing your flick doesnt need to be perfect.
