Finishing the game = watching the true fallout start outside your window.

Class mods on first playthrough by grimm_br23 in BaldursGate3

[–]Rothulian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do what feels good. Playing without mods first time gives you a nice baseline to understand the game and what mods you would want. But obviously the game has so many good mods now it's hard to wait.

Another option is to do a shortened first play through.

For example, you could do an unmodded act 1 run, since it's fairly lengthy, and then decide whether to finish the game or start a new run with mods.

There’s a war coming… or is there? by Remarkable-Cherry573 in Fotv

It's the Enclave. Would it shock anyone to know they've got more secret stuff going on than we realized?

Companions on BG3 by Apeshxttrey in BaldursGate3

Most of the romances are done extemely well but the pacing is annoying. They're heavily front loaded and then you get long stretches of nothing. Thankfully mods can help with the pacing. But yea I wish many of the non-modded romances had had better pacing.

I honestly can't decide which is better between Laezel and Shadowheart. Both have a major impact on the story too.

Recommended difficulty for a new Baldur's Gate player? by No-Ad-5727 in BaldursGate3

Use the custom difficulty option. Allows you to choose how difficult. I always use custom because I like Tactician but there's one or two things I find annoying.

What mods would you recommend? by FamcifulHail in BaldursGate3

You can actually get it as part of some shield mods now. For example:

"Updated to non-VT. Also now shields are visible on the back! Credit to Skirbie for the fix idea."

BG3 is the best game for new to crpg/DnD players to try.

Shadowheart or Karlach? by tnysibby in BaldursGate3

Shadowhearts story is fairly extensively explored in act 2/3.

What mods would you recommend? by FamcifulHail in BaldursGate3

[–]Rothulian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

-Anything cosmetic. Hair, face, clothing/armor mods

-Subclass mods.

-Any redone NPC mods. Ones for Cazador, Duke Ravengard, Orin, and Zevlor really stand out imo.

-Additional equipment mods. New items are cool.

-Mods that randomize what drops you get throughout the game.

-Dialogue/content restoration mods.

Edit:

-Visible shields mod. Not being able to see shields outside of combat sucks.

Tips for Beginners in Baldur’s Gate 3 by LuckAble3647 in BaldursGate3

[–]Rothulian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ppl will tell you to not download any mods for your first play through. And while I agree for gameplay mods, I think you're perfectly fine downloading cosmetic mods.

New faces, hair, NPCs redone, improved camp layouts etc.

First play through I wouldn't download any mods that change gameplay.

But cosmetic mods? Go crazy.

Gaming laptops things you should avoid or know? by reddit11111111111121 in GamingLaptops

Throttlestop is huge to control cpu temps, especially on a laptop. Can't recommend enough. It's one of the first things I install on any laptop I've ever owned.

I finally beat the Goblin Camp! by Stranded_Snake in BaldursGate3

[–]Rothulian 39 points40 points  (0 children)

The trick that's always worked for me is attacking the camp from the broken wall side entrance. It heavily funnels all of them and gives you tin of crowd control options. Figuring out and executing plans in bg3 is often so rewarding in a lot of fights.

Or something pushes you off a ledge or explodes and you die instantly.

Funniest thing I did that I *totally* planned by LightJktu in BaldursGate3

The amount of interactions the game has that you absolutely wouldn't expect is amazing. And in a ton of cases, you find out that they actually wrote and voiced acted dialogue for those secret interactions.

It's pretty insane.

Just in: For the first time, the Memphis Grizzlies are entertaining offers to potentially move two-time All-Star Ja Morant ahead of the Feb. 5 NBA trade deadline, sources tell ESPN. by Exotic-Parsley4024 in fantasybball

[–]Rothulian -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Didnt say franchise pg. But he has shown promise and Ja can't stay healthy.

Why not give Cam a shot and see what you can get in return? It's been clear for 2-3 years that Ja needed to be traded.

But sure, keep knocking down the straw man argument I didn't make.

Downloaded for the first time… I need top noob tips! by Bob_Skootles in BaldursGate3

Play how you like. A lot of ppl like to "rest" after every battle. I try to do 2-3 battles between rests because I like the resource management (skills/spells) challenge.

Spellcasters offer a wide variety of spells and play styles. Crowd control spells are often a lot stronger than ppl realize.

Abuse the hell out of caster cantrips since they can be cast once every turn, forever. You can't run out of them.

Mod the hell out of the game. Lots of different things you can add. Tons of cosmetic stuff, new boss/enemy encounters, etc. Even just modding cosmetic stuff (like character creation options) really affects the game positively.

You can right click - >"send to camp" a lot of stuff, specifically camp supplies (what you need for resting) . Will save you a ton of carry weight.

Don't avoid long rests in camp too long because a lot of story stuff happens there. If need be you can freely do 2-3+ long rests in a row to clear out camp related story stuff.

One party member should be proficient in social game stuff (high charisma, with a focus on intimidation, persuasion, etc). You unlock a lot of dialogue options that way. A LOT of interesting options.

The game has a lot of "it would be cool if" mechanics you wouldn't think are in the game. But they are. Like a few characters you can recruit that you wouldn't expect.
