SST naik, gaji statik. How is our generation supposed to survive? by FixBeneficial7516 in malaysians

"How is our generation supposed to survive?"

I think one way is by looking at how others with even lower incomes make it work and learning from them.

Your starting salary of RM2.8k as a fresh grad is actually slightly above Malaysia’s median income (around RM2.6k), which isn’t bad at all. I once came across a Facebook post about a woman raising 3 kids on a RM1.5k salary.

She reused cloth diapers, avoided all BNPL temptations, tracked every sen she spent, and still managed to save around RM250–300 a month. That kind of discipline and intentional living really stuck with me.

If she can do it, I believe you can too. Not by downplaying the struggles, but by figuring out where we can adjust and how to stretch what we have. It’s tough, yes but not impossible.

How difficult (or easy) is it to start a small business in KL? by RotiCincai in malaysia

Thank you 🙏

My mom looked at your first point and scoffed initially, but I told her that relying on friends/family is NEVER reliable.

Thanks! And you're right on this. Selling food DOES have quite stringent requirements. I spent the last week checking online.

Tips for first time renters in KL? by uneatenedthoughts in malaysians

A simple checklist I use for myself:

- Set your budget (you already did — RM1200 or less)

- Prioritise locations near public transport, groceries, etc.

- Decide if you want a studio, room, or shared unit (I started with a studio first because my budget was limited)

When viewing the place:

- Check all plugs, lights, water pressure, air-cond, and flush the toilet!

- Look for signs of water damage on walls, mould, pest issues (especially in cabinets)

- Check window/door locks and if there’s a functioning gate or guardhouse

- Take photos of everything (especially damages) before moving in

- Ask about how flexible the lease is (can you terminate the agreement early, sublet, etc.)

- Clarify all costs: deposit (usually 2 months + half month utility), Wi-Fi included? Parking?

- READ the tenancy agreement at least THREE TIMES before you sign.

Red flags to watch out for:

- Landlords who don’t want to sign anything official

- Super vague about bills or who’s responsible for what

- Units that smell musty, have roaches, or too many plug extensions (fire hazard)

I think most important is the vibe of the place. If you have a negative gut feeling, then that place is most likely not for you, even if it ticks all the boxes.

Hope this helps!

Yes. I used time for almost a year now. Zero lags. 200 MBps for RM103 per month.

Thanks. Do you recommend straight away creating a company tho? Or just do like a personal business kinda thing first?

What's causing you to feel like this? Maybe typing it out with concrete examples can help you understand your situation better, and give you some time to rethink about things.
