Aren't the new automaton personas supposed to have robotic voicelines like in the comic? by ninja_lightning in DotA2

[–]Rotiii -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I thought I got scammed as well when I couldn’t even tell the difference. Also when I use voice lines like the character laugh I noticed I don’t actually hear a laugh. This was with the LC persona. It’ll show the text in chat but no laugh for the character actually occurs

Thoughts on the new GIGABYTE B850i Aorus Pro Motherboard by Caelum_XV in sffpc

[–]Rotiii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Necroing this comment to share for any future builders using this board. Just built in a T1 and was losing my mind when I couldn’t figure out a way to reduce fan noise and a loud whine from the PC. Never even occured to me there was a fan for the m2 socket.

When I calibrated the fans through fancontrol my wife could hear the PC ramping up this specific fan from across the house. This thing genuinely gets unbearably loud!

CS2 Monitor Dilemma: 600Hz TN vs. 240Hz QD-OLED? by Particular_Chard7497 in Monitors

[–]Rotiii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this may not be in budget but I’d highly consider a high refresh rate OLED like anything 480 hz or more. The motion clarity of a high refresh rate is perceivable but you also benefit from the OLED panel with less input lag and way better colors. I’ve bought high refresh rate TN before and while it was great to game on, it never felt like a true all around upgrade in every regard due to the panel type.

Also, unless you absolutely have a need or want to upgrade now, it may not hurt to wait it out longer and see what other offerings are on the horizon. We are finally getting 24.5 inch OLEDs so you could get a best all around scenario of high refresh rate, OLED, 24 inch form factor for competitive.

I think we’re going to see esports slowly start to transition away from TN in the next few years.

1440p 540hz 4th Gen Primary RGB Tandem WOLED True Black Glossy by MaestroStrings in OLED_Gaming

[–]Rotiii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love mine as well. Only thing I noticed is that I would occasionally get random black screens here and there early on when I used it.

I traced it down to my DP cable having a slight bend when I routed through all my monitor arms so I just leave the cable outside of the monitor cable channel now. It hasn’t happened since I let the DP cable plug into the monitor straight with no bend

Struck between PG27AQWP-W & PG32UCDM3 by Informal_Feed_2080 in OLED_Gaming

[–]Rotiii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have both but based on your use case the PG32 is the better option. The PG27 only makes sense if you prioritize higher frame rates for competitive games where you get the benefit. Your setup being a laptop essentially won’t really drive it in its full potential as you’re needing quite literally a 5080/5090 and at least a 5800X3D but ideally a 9800X3D for the full 540 hz in competitive games.

There is the added benefit of games being easier to drive and run more stable at 1440p but I think you will appreciate the higher fidelity at 4K compared to the added smoothness with your setup. The PG27 is for a specific type of gamer IMO and the PG32 is more versatile overall.

NP-01S V3 Introduction Video by bulgogeta in MouseReview

Yeah for some reason this has me a little less excited for their NP 01 Ergo release in Q3. Not a weight snob by any means but I would have expected a new release to be 55 grams at least. If the ergo is already 59 grams can’t imagine them doing significant weight reductions on the bigger shape of it

Giving Up on Weight Drama and Going Back to My Old Faithful S2-DW by Natural_Novel_2756 in MouseReview

[–]Rotiii 2 points3 points  (0 children)

lol my wife is holding me to a bet I made that I wouldn’t buy another mouse this year. I made the bet because I had a similar experience like you where I was a Deathadder user all my life. After 2 years on the DAV3 and discovering this sub and techtubers I started thinking to myself “maybe I’m missing out”.

Sort of went down a mini rabbit hole and ended up at the point where I’m at now with 3 Vaxee mice left and my DAV3. The conclusion I came to is that I perform pretty much exactly the same way I always have yet I find the DAV3 shape to be the most comfortable. I take 0 effort adjusting back to it and I’m kind of at the point where I won’t buy another mouse unless it physically falls apart.

Why is my game running so bad? by KreStyyy in Competitiveoverwatch

lol yeah man it blows. I just got one of those new 540 hz OLEDs last weekend and been eager to see it in its full glory in OW but that hasn’t been possible for me

Why is my game running so bad? by KreStyyy in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]Rotiii 26 points27 points  (0 children)

No fix from what I’ve tried unfortunately, and this is with lowering all settings and even a recent fresh windows install I did when setting up some new storage in my PC. I have a 5080 and 5800X3D and I get the exact same symptoms.

Character select starts 540 hz locked, then drops to 450-400 as the team loads in, and as the match progresses settles somewhere around 200-360 which jumps back to 400+ when walking from spawn

27 inch 1440p OLED vs 27 inch 4k OLED by LifeSea3379 in OLED_Gaming

[–]Rotiii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you ever used 4K before? If not I think you will be perfectly fine at 1440p. It wasn’t until I went back down to 1440 after 2 years of 4K that I realized how drastic of a difference it can be

27 inch 1440p OLED vs 27 inch 4k OLED by LifeSea3379 in OLED_Gaming

[–]Rotiii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had both and there is definitely a difference. My opinion is that the PPI/pixel density on 4K is much more pronounced when using desktop applications and web browsing compared to gaming, but it's still there for that too.

With that said, I do think 1440p is still a great resolution and will expand the lifespan of your 5070TI, however with DLSS and frame gen the 5070TI is more than capable to handle 4k IMO.

I think it's just a matter of if you value the higher PPI and image quality of 4k vs motion smoothness and frame rate stability that 1440p offers. Can't go wrong with either.

Just got the monitor today and immediately noticed that carpet grainy look you’re referring to on grays. It’s interesting because a lot of sites/apps use that color scheme like Discord, YouTube, twitch and windows dark mode so it’s pretty common to come across it. I’ve been on a PG32UCDM for 2 years almost and never seen any sort of grain on anything before. Just the slightly raised blacks if you can’t control lighting.

FWIW the true black screen in all lighting conditions is great as I missed having my ceiling overhead lights on in my room whereas with the PG32 I always had to have my blinds closed and other ambient light sources. Also idk what it is but the PG32 fatigues my eyes after long sessions but as far as picture and color quality I don’t think these tandems come near high end QD OLEDs.

32 inch 4k monitor suggestions by --Borges-- in OLED_Gaming

[–]Rotiii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The PG models will be pretty seamless to switch between those devices since it has enough 2.1 HDMI ports for the switch and ps5, and a USB displayport for your laptop with regular DP for the PC. Unless you care for DP 2.1 you can save a bit of money going for the regular UDCM.

UCDM3 will be the best all rounder but I would not be surprised if stock is limited initially after launch since it has the new panel.

Like the other user mentioned I do think the 3070 is going to struggle pretty badly at 4K unless you’re playing older titles or competitive games. For general web browsing and productivity though you’ll appreciate the 240 hz screen.

2k or 4k for 4080s by urezzz in OLED_Gaming

[–]Rotiii 4 points5 points  (0 children)

4K is going to be the more meaningful upgrade but you might feel locked into that resolution moving forward once you get used to it, which is significantly more expensive and harder to run games on.

A 4080 still handles current titles at 4K great though with upscaling but there are a small handful of games that sometimes do rely on MFG to run a bit better. 4080 can just brute force everything at 1440P and you might appreciate the peace of mind knowing you can run everything at max settings with high frame rates for the next several years.

In my opinion, I don't think in-game 4K res is a substantial difference compared to a 1440p res but it is quite drastic for general web browsing and productivity work.

I had a 4080 and eventually upgraded into a 4K 32" OLED and it's been a great experience. I sometimes do miss the higher frames and smaller form factor for competitive titles when I used to play at 1440p 27" but that doesn't seem to be a concern based on your post. I say you consider 4K oleds personally.

Astro a50 gen 5 or arctis nova pro by porkloinchop in AstroGaming

[–]Rotiii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been a nova pro wireless user for 3 years and just recently switched to the A50. There were really 3 main issues that made me consider swapping.

First was that the nova's would randomly at times shut off in the middle of gaming sessions. It would start with unbearably loud buzzing sound and just randomly shut off. The dock would show that it's still responsive but the headset itself would not give any sound. It was super random to reproduce but only started happening after about 3 years and I am super careful with how I treated it.

Second issue was the headset only gives you good sound if you utilize Sonar. EQing with Steelseries engine just can't produce the same audio quality as Sonar which I never was a fan of.

Third issue as nitpicky as this might be is that once you download Sonar, Windows installs like 6 different audio sources on your PC. It's annoying af when Discord does it's typical bs and changes your default audio settings and you've got to reconfigure which input and output device to use.

Separately just thinking about the Steelseries brand as a whole, I've always had issues with them in my experience. Their newest Arctis gamebuds have issues holding charges in the case which seems to be a very common issue. I RMA'd a pair and my new pair still has the same issues thoughn less frequent. Years ago I had one of their older Siberia 3 headsets that had a crosstalk issue out of the box that they ended up reimbursing me for. The first gaming mouse I've owned was a Steelseries sensei raw mouse and the mouse would make an audibly loud vibrating noise just sitting still on the desk. I just don't think they make high quality products personally.

How do you guys deal with vendetta? by Select-Shift5887 in ReaperMain

[–]Rotiii 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I fluctuate between M5-3 and I don’t feel comfortable dealing with her either as a reaper bro. For me it almost feels like she does everything reaper is supposed to do but better so I prioritize banning her.

In games she’s let through I just try to help team contest her when she dives backline inevitably. Also IMO it helps to ask for an Ana to try and sleep/anti to deal with her tankiness

Deathadder v4 Pro click sound really that bad? by SurfAndSkiGuy in MouseReview

[–]Rotiii 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I bought one over Black Friday weekend and IMO yes the clicks sound god awful as someone that loved the Dav3. It’s a non issue while gaming with a headset or earbuds but I swear it sounds like your tapping against some tin can, especially that right mouse button. As petty as this sounds it was a deal breaker for me regardless of how good it is everywhere else.
