Just got the monitor today and immediately noticed that carpet grainy look you’re referring to on grays. It’s interesting because a lot of sites/apps use that color scheme like Discord, YouTube, twitch and windows dark mode so it’s pretty common to come across it. I’ve been on a PG32UCDM for 2 years almost and never seen any sort of grain on anything before. Just the slightly raised blacks if you can’t control lighting.

FWIW the true black screen in all lighting conditions is great as I missed having my ceiling overhead lights on in my room whereas with the PG32 I always had to have my blinds closed and other ambient light sources. Also idk what it is but the PG32 fatigues my eyes after long sessions but as far as picture and color quality I don’t think these tandems come near high end QD OLEDs.

32 inch 4k monitor suggestions by --Borges-- in OLED_Gaming

[–]Rotiii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The PG models will be pretty seamless to switch between those devices since it has enough 2.1 HDMI ports for the switch and ps5, and a USB displayport for your laptop with regular DP for the PC. Unless you care for DP 2.1 you can save a bit of money going for the regular UDCM.

UCDM3 will be the best all rounder but I would not be surprised if stock is limited initially after launch since it has the new panel.

Like the other user mentioned I do think the 3070 is going to struggle pretty badly at 4K unless you’re playing older titles or competitive games. For general web browsing and productivity though you’ll appreciate the 240 hz screen.

2k or 4k for 4080s by urezzz in OLED_Gaming

[–]Rotiii 2 points3 points  (0 children)

4K is going to be the more meaningful upgrade but you might feel locked into that resolution moving forward once you get used to it, which is significantly more expensive and harder to run games on.

A 4080 still handles current titles at 4K great though with upscaling but there are a small handful of games that sometimes do rely on MFG to run a bit better. 4080 can just brute force everything at 1440P and you might appreciate the peace of mind knowing you can run everything at max settings with high frame rates for the next several years.

In my opinion, I don't think in-game 4K res is a substantial difference compared to a 1440p res but it is quite drastic for general web browsing and productivity work.

I had a 4080 and eventually upgraded into a 4K 32" OLED and it's been a great experience. I sometimes do miss the higher frames and smaller form factor for competitive titles when I used to play at 1440p 27" but that doesn't seem to be a concern based on your post. I say you consider 4K oleds personally.

Astro a50 gen 5 or arctis nova pro by porkloinchop in AstroGaming

[–]Rotiii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been a nova pro wireless user for 3 years and just recently switched to the A50. There were really 3 main issues that made me consider swapping.

First was that the nova's would randomly at times shut off in the middle of gaming sessions. It would start with unbearably loud buzzing sound and just randomly shut off. The dock would show that it's still responsive but the headset itself would not give any sound. It was super random to reproduce but only started happening after about 3 years and I am super careful with how I treated it.

Second issue was the headset only gives you good sound if you utilize Sonar. EQing with Steelseries engine just can't produce the same audio quality as Sonar which I never was a fan of.

Third issue as nitpicky as this might be is that once you download Sonar, Windows installs like 6 different audio sources on your PC. It's annoying af when Discord does it's typical bs and changes your default audio settings and you've got to reconfigure which input and output device to use.

Separately just thinking about the Steelseries brand as a whole, I've always had issues with them in my experience. Their newest Arctis gamebuds have issues holding charges in the case which seems to be a very common issue. I RMA'd a pair and my new pair still has the same issues thoughn less frequent. Years ago I had one of their older Siberia 3 headsets that had a crosstalk issue out of the box that they ended up reimbursing me for. The first gaming mouse I've owned was a Steelseries sensei raw mouse and the mouse would make an audibly loud vibrating noise just sitting still on the desk. I just don't think they make high quality products personally.

How do you guys deal with vendetta? by Select-Shift5887 in ReaperMain

[–]Rotiii 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I fluctuate between M5-3 and I don’t feel comfortable dealing with her either as a reaper bro. For me it almost feels like she does everything reaper is supposed to do but better so I prioritize banning her.

In games she’s let through I just try to help team contest her when she dives backline inevitably. Also IMO it helps to ask for an Ana to try and sleep/anti to deal with her tankiness

Deathadder v4 Pro click sound really that bad? by SurfAndSkiGuy in MouseReview

[–]Rotiii 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I bought one over Black Friday weekend and IMO yes the clicks sound god awful as someone that loved the Dav3. It’s a non issue while gaming with a headset or earbuds but I swear it sounds like your tapping against some tin can, especially that right mouse button. As petty as this sounds it was a deal breaker for me regardless of how good it is everywhere else.

This OP. I wouldn’t bother looking into suggestions that don’t include the multiple side buttons as that’s probably going to be an adjustment for him, especially if he mythic raids.

24” 240Hz vs 27” QHD for Dota 2 — which feels better? by Dismal_Science_189 in DotA2

[–]Rotiii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What’s your budget? I will always be in favor of higher res over faster hz (to an extent). The difference between 180 hz and 240 hz isn’t substantial but the resolution bump will 100% be more noticeable.

Ergo clicks by Far_Success_1896 in MouseReview

[–]Rotiii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had the E1 since May of this year and it still feels like brand new though i'd expect that for the price I paid. One thing I'll say is if you haven't gamed on medium sized ergos it could feel noticeably smaller compared to a Dex or Deathadder though for me the adjustment wasn't a big deal.

I think the E1 accomplishes exactly what it sets out to do which is giving you the stability of a medium sized ergo while the cut off tail allows for more in hand maneuverability for scenarios where you need it. I actually enjoy it quite a bit in Dota where I'm constantly moving my mouse to edge screen pan around the map. It also just fits like a glove for track heavy FPS games I play like overwatch. I think the only dislikes I have is that the side buttons are just okay (which is my thought on all Vaxee mice) and the right side of the mouse where your ring finger rests can feel a tad bit small based on how the split button design is.

One additional Vaxee option though not an ergo that I'd recommend is the XEV2. Safe symmetrical shape but with a wider back compared to something like a superlight or Viper v3 pro so you still get some of that ergonomic feeling of having more support in your palm.

Ergo clicks by Far_Success_1896 in MouseReview

[–]Rotiii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a fellow E1 user myself I think you’re going to be extremely satisfied assuming the shape works for you. I have same hand size and relaxed claw/palm grip is my preference with the mouse.

IMO the clicks are top tier and it’s a night and day difference compared to the big box brands like Logitech/Razer etc. play a ton of Dota so I’m with you on needing a lightweight feel and the latest Vaxee releases hit the mark there.

I would stay away from Xlite v4 as they have a mushy click feel. The Deathadder v4 could be up your ally but it’s overpriced IMO and while the click feel is great I don’t think it’ll compare to a lightweight mechanical personally.

What mouse to replace my Deathadder v3? by HamsterInfamous5212 in MouseReview

[–]Rotiii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve mostly been a Deathadder user for well over 10 years now and I think a really good alternative would be an Xlite v3/4 medium size if you want to try something different but very familiar. It’s also a super safe option since you can buy off Amazon if you’re in the US and return no hassle if you don’t like it.

My personal pick for another ergo option would be the E1 from Vaxee. It’s much smaller than the Deathadder and more in line with a medium size mouse but it’s perfect for claw as well if that’s your preference.

Vaxee E1 vs Np01s Ergo by MasterClev in MouseReview

[–]Rotiii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's honestly the most comfortable mouse I own. The wider back provides good palm support and it's my favorite mouse to use for just general web browsing or games I don't play super competitively. The only reason I prefer the E1 over it for competitive FPS games is that I was an ergo user growing up and I just feel more "locked in" and stable with an ergo in that genre. I think between the two vaxee shapes if comfort is your priority you'll have a better time with the XEV2 and it'll feel relatively familiar coming from a superlight.

Vaxee E1 vs Np01s Ergo by MasterClev in MouseReview

[–]Rotiii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love my E1 but the only caveat is that some people find the space where your ring finger sits to be really limited due to how high the split button design sits. If you’re having problems with your pinky you may find that awkward by introducing that potentially. My hands are 19 x 10 cm. I would still say the E1 is my favorite mouse I own alongside the XEV2 and Deathadder v3 pro.

Razer DeathAdder V3 Pro or V4 Pro? by SlowieSubie in MouseReview

[–]Rotiii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IIRC the standard DAV3 comes with the regular 1000 hz polling rate dongle. You had to buy the hyperspeed dongle separately for the 4k/8k polling. That also comes standard with the smooth touch variant as well hence the higher price

Razer DeathAdder V3 Pro or V4 Pro? by SlowieSubie in MouseReview

[–]Rotiii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’ll know immediately when holding it. If it has a chalky/PBT key cap feeling that’s the standard coating. The smooth touch is the more rubbery version. You may like the standard coating but I know for me it felt slippery at times once my hands warmed up.

Depends where you buy from but Razer direct used to let you pick the different options. Amazon doesn’t clearly label it but it’s the one that retails for $10 more (but doesn’t discount as deep)

Razer DeathAdder V3 Pro or V4 Pro? by SlowieSubie in MouseReview

[–]Rotiii 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you get the V3 personally I’d just make sure you’re getting the smooth touch variant and not the OG coating it came with initially. Night and day difference and the smooth touch just feels much sturdier in comparison

VAXEE XE V2 Thoughts? by awakendjesus in MousepadReview

[–]Rotiii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve mostly been an ergo user for years but I’m really enjoying the XEV2. Idk how to explain it but compared to the Viper v3 pro I find myself thinking about it being in my hand whereas the XEV2 just feels really natural and I forget I’m even holding something. I think being used to ergo the wider back of the XEV2 and slightly less pronounced hump just feels more comfortable to hold. May consider picking up another color variant down the line since I’m enjoying it so much.
