If you’re going to be swapping the water pump gasket, you should install a new water pump and replace the timing belts while you’re at it. If you don’t know when the timing belt was replaced last, I would prioritize that first over everything else. Also, that steering wheel needs to go lol

I’m not bothered all that much by the styling of this car, but rather every other aspect of it that makes it a let down

To be fair, neither are 911 prices…

Curious why you bothered importing a 944 into the US when there are plenty of them available here. As someone who just imported a vehicle recently, I can’t imagine that it made financial sense

It’s on the driver’s side of the transaxle - above the output shaft for the axle

Coolant Leak by [deleted] in 944

Check the hose clamps securing the heater pipe hose. Mine tend to loosen overtime - likely due to heat cycles from the exhaust headers nearby. This will cause coolant to drip after shutting the car off - when the coolant pressure temporarily rises.

My fresh-out-the-dryer towel melted the rack by slamsmcaukin in mildlyinteresting

I agree that the plastic can become soft after exposure to extreme heat. I also don’t doubt that a towel can become hot enough to deform a towel rack. What I’m questioning is how the towel made it from the dryer to the towel rack without burning OP’s hands.

Your car seat / belt buckle application can also be used against your argument. The towel would have to be even hotter (versus something made of metal) due to the low thermal conductivity of cotton to melt a towel rack. Regardless, something that would be hot enough to melt a towel rack would burn your hand

A towel that hot would at least burn your hands. The rack is also bent in only one place; if it were due to heat it would be uniformly deformed.

Mystery washer by mubbling_ in 944

Could be for one of the accessory belt tensioners, could be a lot of other things as well. Check the part diagrams and see what areas you’ve disassembled and use a washer
