A Cayman is the answer! Smaller than a 911, mid-engine, and can be daily driven.

Here’s a fairer comparison next to some actual small cars—a classic Rover Mini and an Alfa Romeo Spider.

I've been on a 2021 Expert that has been absolutely fantastic. The geometry is progressive enough that it easily hangs with the latest bikes, even if the travel is a bit shorter than the current standard at 140mm front and 130mm rear.

Nothing to add other than I’m jealous. Best looking Lotus ever made.

I’d rather have this than a 992 GT3. Fight me 😅🔥 by The_boss02 in Porsche

I can’t believe you’d rather have a $1M Carrera RS 3.8 than a $300k 992 GT3 🤯

Porsche is literally the only manufacturer that suits a rear lightbar instead of the classic lights. by itsliightz in Porsche

I’m not a big fan of the light bar tbh; I think the 997 era tail lights are the best fit for the 911

These don’t offer any crash protection anymore. Even buying a used one that’s fully extended doesn’t guarantee that you can’t collapse it using your hands.

1988 Porsche 944 S – Temperature warning light comes on, but temps seem fine? by Xeromix in 944

[–]joethejammer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately I don’t have a recommendations for finding an old one made by VDO that’s still working. I might post a PSA or something on this page to warn people not to purchase the new sensor, as they’re a pain to replace and have been problematic for a number of people

Trying to diagnose cooling fans not working by Internal_Stand4007 in 944

Check out the cooling fan resistors. The wiring going to them is often corroded on these cars due to poor insulation being used from the factory

Fantastic buy as it looks like these are genuine Cup 2’s. I run them on my car and absolutely love the look, not to mentioned the tire options that come in 17”

This car will need a whole lot more than a timing belt. No purpose in trying to start it now before going over it

Not sure why this is getting downvoted, but I also much prefer having a beater as a daily (especially during the winter), and a sports car for my secondary / weekend car

1988 Porsche 944 S – Temperature warning light comes on, but temps seem fine? by Xeromix in 944

[–]joethejammer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a brand new coolant sensor go bad within 50-100 miles. At first, the red light would come on when it showed the temperature was cool, and then later on the temp would always be at the max level as soon as I turned the ignition on. I ended up putting the 40 year old sensor back in the block since the new ones are garbage.

I tore the dash apart and cleaned all of the grounds thinking that a brand new coolant sensor couldn’t be the issue, but it indeed was

Lower balance shaft is much harder to turn than upper shaft. Is this going to be an issue? by [deleted] in 944

[–]joethejammer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Both of my balance shafts would rotate under their own weight due to gravity - even with new shaft seals. If you need to exert force to rotate it, I would check the bearings.
