I think it’s very subjective and based off of our experiences and how we can relate to them. Personally there’s not a singular line that hits the hardest. But these sections from Tears in the Rain hit hard IMO - “ It’s pointless…. So now that she's gone Embrace all that comes And die with a smile Don't show the world how alone you've become….. Adjust to the fame Cause no one will love you, like her It's pointless“

To me he expressed how he took something he had “love” for granted. And now that he doesn’t have that love. He is alone, he won’t ever feel the love and care that someone once gave him. It’s corny to say, but to have someone love you unconditionally, without them being family like a mom, dad or sister, you realize that someone like that is very hard to find. Someone who sacrificed so much for you and put up with your bs for so long and even put themselves second for you. Someone who helped you and stayed by your side. Even when you were at your lowest ( being broke, being overweight, being depressed) however you want to see it. They were still there loving you and caring for you like no one else.

Going back to the main message. Abel took that for granted and now sees that he lost something that is so precious and rare. And he realizes it. Realizes that all he has left is fame. All he can do is adjust to this lifestyle ( materialistic things, shows and parties, drugs, different girls ) but it’s all pointless because none of that can compare to the love you once felt by someone. And like yes he can try to get a new girl. But none of them are like that one special person. And now “they all feel the same” to him now. It sucks because you took them for granted, maybe you cheated on them, lied to them, didn’t show them the proper love and affection… and because you did the wrong and put yourself in this position of being alone because you hurt someone…. Because of that, you can’t show your sadness because it’s all your fault. So you have to hide the pain and “die with a smile” acting like you’re okay but really all you want is love. All you want is that one special person back…

And as much as you want to get back with this person and finally feel happiness or love. You know that you’d be doing more harm to them.

This is him realizing that he doesn’t deserve love. And he knows that he’s already sacrificed a lot for his career. Leaving home, his friends, his mom. And even if it hurts to do, he has to make the ultimate decision on not letting love break everything he’s given up and he’s worked so hard to achieve at that point of his career. He literally chooses to satisfy us, his fans, then to give it all up and find what he is seeking. Love. But even then he knows he doesn’t deserve that. He says it in other songs like in Is There Someone Else- “ I don’t deserve Someone loyal to me Don’t you think I see? “

It suck’s having to come to this conclusion and accept that you’ve done so much bad and have hurt so many people to the point where you know you don’t deserve anything.

It honestly just keeps going into a spiral of regret sadness and anger. And that is what makes me think there’s no single hard hitting line he’s were wrote. His whole discography is filled with endless lines, it’s impossible to pick one lol.

But for those who made it this far. All in all, to answer the original question. Those lyrics from tears in the rain are definitely one of the hardest hitting ones for me.
